Terrible on Metacritic, is this years FIFA really that bad?
Guys, I was one the fence of buying this game. However I always like to check out the user reviews on Metacritic before I buy a game and FIFA 16 is rated terribly low there. What do you guys say, is the game really that bad? I was quite surprised cos I superficially read a very few comments on here before and they werent all that negative..Spending time with Jesus!

I think it's more of a lack of changes that makes the score lower. It's still Fifa, for all the good and bad that comes with it. with a few different skill moves that you may or may not use, and the Driven pass which is pretty useful, but has it's risks as well. -

People will always have something to complain about. Sure there is room for improvement but this is the best fifa yet (my personal opinion). I've spent more time playing this version than the previous one. The only wish I have is for EA to invest more time into carrier mode and tweak the AI.

One of the best sports games I have ever played, and the best FIFA by far. It's far more soccer than anything else. There is room for strategy, tactics, etc... The presentation is top notch and you play a much more strategic and fun game. Playing with the womens' national teams is also a blast. I have Madden, NBA 2k and Forza in addition to FIFA 16. This game I play the most. It's really good. When the game is on the line, winners want the ball.Comment

Gameplay is much better than in the previous years, they pushed it a bit more in the sim direction which means there's a little bit less action on the pitch and you have to think more, which I personally find a lot better than the arcade-kick'n'rush crap of the last years.
Unfortunately I dont think there's a company that wastes more potential on its games than EA. I wouldnt give FIFA 16 a high rating (despite the good gameplay) because EA just focuses on FUT and making money with this gamemode. All other gamemodes have been mostly ignored for the last years and compared to other sports games they are just not up to date anymore.
Reintroducing features in singleplayer which have been in the game 4-5 years ago is not "improving career mode" in my eyes, it's lying to the customers face and clearly telling them that you're not worth the effort unless you pay 100-200$ in Ultimate Team.Comment

If more companies had the imagination, they would make EA a footnote in the gaming industry.

Re: Terrible on Metacritic, is this years FIFA really that bad?
I think one of the things that hurt FIFA 16's general review scores is the lack of "back of the box" features and innovations. (I suppose you could make an argument for the inclusion of women's teams, but that's about it.) Most reviewers spend a certain amount of time with a video game, publish their review and move on to the next game. If there isn't anything truly revolutionary in this year's version, no "WOW!" factor, then reviewers aren't going to find anything to hang their hat on, resulting in the game getting a low-to-average score.
But sports games are a different animal. I don't know about you guys, but I don't play FIFA for eight to ten hours then forget about it 'til next year. These games last me all year round, which is why gameplay is more important than anything. I don't need "ALL-NEW!™" features, I don't need a complete overhaul in gameplay, I just want improvements on last year's version. And that what we've got this year.
FIFA 16 is an unremarkable game. It's also the best playing version of the series to date. In short, it's a bad game to review and a great game for long-time fans.www.heyimbill.com | sports poster art and other cool stuffComment

Re: Terrible on Metacritic, is this years FIFA really that bad?
Only the user score on metacritic is bad. That is partially a product of PES fans hijacking it, and people who think FIFA 15 was the best game ever also have been hating on it.
It's not as "pick up and play" accessible as PES, but it's really good if you're looking for a slower, 10+ minutes per half time type game.Comment
