Can you please help me counter high pressure abusers?

    Hi all

I play FIFA since 1997,FUT since 2013 first on PC, now on PS4.
Since yes I am quite old (34) I am not very good at skill moves etc as I am not
really used to using right stick
However on both 13 and 14 I was div 1 winner.
I started FIFA 15 and I got bored in the first 2 months while in Div 2

The reason was that the game was a superspeed game with NO defense at all, and everyone playing ultra attcking and high pressure. All my games ended 6-4,6-5, 4-3 etc.

I bought the game again as I friend of mine told me that defense and passing is fixed and the game is no longer a ping-pong, but now I have reached div 5 and I realise that even though passes, specially lofted are toned down and defenders are better, high pressure is still an issue. EVERYONE i play against is using it, making it a very tiring and repetitive experience

Is there a way to counter this high pressure? How does anyone even apply it? Is there a combination of d-pad?

I try to use counter when I face it but still I believe it should be more punished.

This is my squad, any help would be appreciated

When guys use it against me I usually play defensive/possession which is one of the buttons on the d-pad (up or down I think) and then whichever direction possession is, the other ones are counter attack, high pressure and something else.

As far as game tactics go, don't try to force your attack. By that I mean pass around and hold possession. Don't be afraid to pass to your center halves but at the same time always look for your forwards making runs because when they use high pressure their center halves will push forward too much at times and long through balls work really well and your forwards are perfect for that. Use quick passes especially the LB/L1 pass that makes them go on a run after making the pass it's extremely effective as a counter to high pressure.

One more suggestion I have would be to use Gonalons instead of Pastore at CDM, maybe just as a sub to use when you play the high pressure guys. It's important to have strength and use LT/L2 to shield the ball. Matuidi and Pastore both lost the ball a lot for me when I used them but guys like Nainggolan and Marchisio worked really well.

Thanx man, I appreciate a lot.
I started using the driven pass and feels better. I will try the possesion as now I am trying to use the counter tactic.
I use Matuidi on aggresive and stay back options for destroying football and Pastore on default to work as a box to box

I am a bit worried that a Gonalons/Matuidi will be a slow midfield but I will check it in some games.

Naingoland and Marchisio are both quick enough, but strangely enou I also liked Medel in the Destroyer role

Dirty Mike on YouTube just put out a tutorial on how to beat high pressing oppenents, I would definitely recommend checking it out, as well as all of his videos. Between him and Ovvy they have made me a better player by leaps and bounds.

I'm older like you and my stick skills aren't exactly great, but these clowns are easy to beat.

1-2 passing always work against this kind of cheese. they are always pulling their players out of position for the sake of pressure that they aren't covering passing lanes. After a few passes their formation is destroyed. Just predict how they are going to move and have a second passing option just in case.

you will still get those games where momentum is in their favor, you just gotta see it happening and keep possession as long as possible until it is gone.

            Thanks guys.
I have started to use driven pass.

It helps A LOT, as normal passes are too slow and get intercepted, while long passes are going places.

Also down and left on d-pad to posession game helps.

I really can't understand how on earth this cheese has remained in the game since last year? I mean they run like mad-men for full game, there is not even a foul called. I getgames where an opponent plays high pressure and aggresiveness all game long and I get awarded 0-1 fouls where, he just dribbles into my defender and I am called for

Re: Can you please help me counter high pressure abusers?

I also find that using a formation like the false 9 works wonders against high pressure.

I usually pass around the defense in my half of the field for 4-5 passes, and once my opponents midfield is pressuring into my half, I 1-2 pass it through my CM's. Once it gets through them and up to the CF, I typically have a 4 on 4 or 4 on 3 if one of my opponents defenders gets out of position.

Like someone stated earlier, sometimes I feel like I'm not controlling the pace or momentum of the game which is frustrating, but usually by the start of the 2nd half I manage to poke one or two in, and at that point its all downhill for the opponent.

Re: Can you please help me counter high pressure abusers?

Coming back to original thread, best way I have found to to counter high pressure abusers is
Speed 80 so that your players move quicky from defense to offense.
Passing 60 to create more distance between your players
and in Chance creation Passing 80 to make more forward runs

Also I put 30 on how deep my defense will start, 50 on aggresion and COVER
