Importance of Work Rates for Career Mode

I play a lot of career mode and love using the YA to build a team and am constantly frustrated with getting that perfect prospect who grows physically and then has decent work rates weak foot, and skill moves. Obviously the physical growth is something I can't budge on. The weak foot / skill moves is a tossup depending on the position and how I'll use him. This leaves work rates as something I'm considering just ignoring as it is so hard to hit all the categories.

So - how much does a Low defending work rate hurt a CB? Or a low attacking work rate affect a ST?

    Hey man,
    I know that problem.
I think that the workrates are pretty important.
A CB with High/Low as example would be pretty bad because he would be offensive and he won't be back in defense quick enough because of his Low workrate.
There are some positions where workrates are not that important as example for strikers.

But yeah, it's pretty hard to find some usable youth players.

You notice the affect more when playing the CPU. Watch how Zlatan or Balotelli let you run the ball out of the back whereas Suarez hunts the ball down.

As user players, most tend to run around chasing like maniacs meaning work rates are not as important in an attacking sense. However if you have a full back with low D work rate then expect gaping holes when you lose the ball. Same goes for a centre forward with low A work rate, don't expect him to be a fox in the box.
