I want to. I try to, but I don't.
I used to play Fifa 13 career mode and this year decided to go back to Fifa. I bought Fifa 16 and had tons of fun with the manager mode. However, not long after the professional difficulty got a little too easy. Winning every award, every match, every championship with team full of rookies quickly got too unrealistic and not really fun. It was fun to score goals, but not to the point of unrealism.
So, I chose to put on higher difficulty - which is when the frustration stepped in. I'm still winning games in a sense that I was able to lift West Ham up to 5th place after season 1. The frustration doesn't come from not winning trophies or not winning every match. It comes from the fact that the difficulty is so limited.
Every single team plays the same, doesn't matter if it's Barcelona or Southampton. Realizing that was point 1 that got me frustrated. I then quickly noticed you're unable to score more than 3 goals towards any opponent at all. After 3 goals, mostly after 2 goals you will start hitting posts or missing the target or the goalie will make a super stop. I also noticed how the pace of the players doesn't matter, the AI will catch you no matter what.
Hitting all these frustration points killed the fun for me. I was looking for more difficulty with more realism. I remember going to play Fifa thinking I'll give it another shot, but quickly just quit the game mid match after too many unrealistic situations. It just wasn't fun anymore.
Conclusion:
I thought that EA wasn't able to find a balance with their difficulty levels. This quickly made me frustrated with the game as I couldn't find a difficulty suitable for my skill level. Every team should play differently based on their overall ratings, not based on the difficulty I've set for the game. If I have a good team - I want to smash the lower tier team. If I have a decent team vs decent team, the game should be pretty even. If I have a decent team vs top team, I still have a chance if I'm skilled enough. That's what it needs to be like
It's really sad, because I really want to play the game, I love the manager mode, but I'm unable to enjoy the gameplay anymore :/
