    Custom Tactics

I used the Sofifa site and found that the ranges for all team tactic sliders are only separated by an average of 47 points. I think that's why most claim that all teams play the same.

I input each team's tactic into a spreadsheet and increased the range so that the lowest tactic value and the highest tactic value had a range of 90 instead of 47. After doing for each individual tactic, I've found that the CPU will play differently and with more variety. I've watched around 15 CPU vs CPU games and not only do they play differently, but fouls are up and pass percentage is down.

I used the Community sliders (on Pro level) and only changed run frequency to 0. I know it's late in the season, but if anyone is interested I'll link the spreadsheet. FYI, you can change/update an entire league in about 10 minutes.

I'd be interested in seeing it. Especially if it only takes about 10 minutes for one league.

The problem with custom tactics is that you can't make CPU teams use them in your CM.

I think you can only make them use them in exhibition matches.

I could be wrong, but recently in my CM I connected another controller and selected the other team (for a 2 player game). In the formation screen I changed their tactics. Then at kick off I paused it and went to 'select sides' to make the team CPU controlled. They seemed to play differently although this could be placebo.

I only tried it once and will try again today maybe with more extreme settings.

If someone can also give it a try to see if they notice a difference.

Thanks for your custom tactics by the way

Even though it's late I've kept messing around with them this year as I never wanted to completely give up on them. Certain sliders and certain formations/instructions definitely help.

As for them not working in a CM, make sure you're using customized squads, and that you're editing the base default tactic for teams. If you add a new tactic and set it to favorite, it'll still use the default tactic for teams once you're in career mode.

A second controller can also help, though.

Hi Krebstar, are you saying the tactics will work if i edit the teams and then start my CM again with customizable squads? If thats the case i will give it a go for a few weeks before FIFA 17. Thanks

I could be wrong as the last time I tested it was around release, but if you'll need to start with customized squads, and you have to edit the default tactic for each team. If you create a new one and set it as a favorite, they'll just use their default one in the CM even if it's custom squads.

                    Re: Custom Tactics

Hey Krebstar, the tactics btw work really well in the Fifa 17 beta: I wouldn't just say that, as I have always been very disappointed by the AI's lack of variety, but I was surprised to see that if you just give them the default Long Ball tactic they will try tons of long balls. Give them the default Counter Attack tactic and they will drop deep and try to punish you with really fast breakaways.

Instructions tend to work, but the Stay Back and Defend instruction for DM's still doesn't stop them from pushing too far up the pitch; trying to get the Busquests role down is really difficult, the only way I could get him to play the way he does was to make him a CB with the Get Forward instruction.

There's a new instruction called False 9 for strikers. Basically it recreates Messi's old role quite well; your striker with this instruction will drop deep into the midfield to get the ball and he will also drift wide when needed, but he will always be behind the 2 strikers/wingers in front of him, perfect for 1 touch play.

Great things to hear. They worked well in the demo last year, but not in the full game. Hopefully this year they work well!

Hi Krebstar, the teams still play pretty much the same in CM.

I just tried your custom tactics for FIFA14 on the PS3 and they work a treat. Thank you. I also wanted to ask do the custom tactics work in the PS4 version of FIFA14?
