Ugh... that game. That freaking game. United was up on Sunderland late by a couple of goals, so I switched over to that game, QPR holding onto a one-goal lead late, United about to take home another league title... and then QPR fell apart. Damn you, Rangers!!!

Re: Real life scripting
The real like situations shown as examples fall under random occurrences
The term scripting in FIFA is not random. Scripting is when you take 10 shots on goal in the first 15 minutes of the game so scripting kicks in and to make the game "fair" they decide to drop the awareness and pass accuracy of your players for the remainder of the match.
There is no debate whether this is happening or not. The code has been pulled out and the situations where scripting kick in have been shown.
So to put scripting vs real life you would say ok Real Betis, in your first match this season make sure you don't out possess the other team by a 30% difference because if you do you have to put heavier boots on at halftime.resident curmudgeonComment

Re: Real life scripting
Some of this is lessened IRL by team chemistry but that's another thing missing in CM. A season like Leicester is impossible to replicate because everyone just plays to their ratings. If there was a team chemistry rating like there was in CH2K8 they would be more formidable in-game rather than a push-over. It's part of the reason why big matches in FIFA CM rarely feel big.Arsenal | New York YankeesComment

Sporting vs Benfica. Benfica won 0-1. B. Ruiz miss cost Sporting the Portuguese championship title.
If happened in your CM, what would you do?

To choose a few videos of rare situations as an example of what happens everytime in Fifa is bogus. What you fail to understand is that people have already looked at the code of the game and the way the game is coded creates an imbalance (that we call, and very well, scripting).Comment

This thread is about... how to waste space on a forum. It´s pathetic.

Re: Real life scripting
Welp, this could get exciting, but let's move on.
Scripting is in the game, it's in most games. How it happens is what's more important, not the fact that it happens. If any of the above happened in our CM's...EXACTLY, then it wouldn't be a big deal. The problem is scripting in the death of matches can happen in FIFA/PES by way of ratings being decreased for the user, and increased for the CPU. That is not how it works IRL. Players do not all of a sudden start getting newer capabilities and making impossible plays that they have never done in their career.
That's how it happens in video games though, and that's why this thread, and it's intended comparison, is not apples to apples - it's closer to comparing potatoes to apples.Comment

Re: Real life scripting
In fact, it´s the opposite of constructive, trying to pretend a bad thing isn´t there will not make it go away...
And im ok with what you think of my posts.
In FIFA (or PES, or whatever, although i do think that is more pronounced in FIFA) we see it with a much more higher frequency, and that´s what stands out, making it impossible to suggest that this resembles the real life frequency and situations.Last edited by nunogomes; 08-05-2016, 08:56 AM.Comment

Re: Real life scripting
I would also add that it´s a frequency problem. How many real life games have to go by for us to see anything resembling the examples of the videos? Maybe one hundred? Two hundred?

But perhaps I'm able to deal with it better than others. I did lose a Euro League Final in one of those matches where you outshoot the CPU 10-1 and their 1 was the lone goal. That one still burns, lol.Comment

Re: Real life scripting
That method is obvious.
Perfect example was using my La Liga all star gold squad on pro in the futties tournament.
Even though my team was always much higher rated than the competition and I have 100 chem, my players would not move off the ball, often running away behind defenders, counter attacks would be lone affairs with maybe 1 or 2 players joining, completing passes was difficult, first touch/ball control was suspect. All the hallmarks of what goes down.
So last night I took the same La Liga all star team against a TOTW in FUT and played it on semi-pro.
No surprise at all. Passing was crisp, I pulled off some nice 1-2 passes, off ball movement and support runs were happening like they should. Never had to once stand there with the ball shielding off a constant toe poke cpu defender attack while waiting for someone to go into a jog animation and join me on attack. Counter attacks were a joy as I would sit back and absorb the cpu attack then break out and have up to 6 players on the counter.
This all boils down to what I have already posted about how EA makes the difficulties. They don't make the cpu that much better, they make your teammates more idiotic as you raise the difficulty.
Just play 1 game on semi pro and play the exact same game on WC. The CPU doesn't get better, your team gets worse.
Does any other sports game do their difficulties this way?
Honestly, this in my opinion is what makes sliders in FIFA almost impossible to get right.
If your team just behaved like they do on beginner/am and semi pro as you went to pro and above this game would be amazing.resident curmudgeonComment
