Re: How's your FIFA career mode going?
So one thing that's really bothering me. Diego Simeone is in the game. He is managing Atleti if you go there in the Journey. But when you play against Atleti in career or Kick Off, it's a generic manager. What the heck?!Comment

i'm looking for a smaller team that might have 1 or 2 really bright prospects to use before I sell them on for big money to the top clubs. I love developing players and moving them on for huge transfer fees all while trying to stay competitive. Its the most realistic to me.Sacramento Kings San Diego Padres Dallas Cowboys Liverpool FC

How small? The Portuguese clubs are always a good bet for prospects and aren't European Giants. There are also some Argentinian clubs that have some big potential guys, but then you obviously don't get any competitions outside of Argentina since they don't have the continental cups in South America.Comment

Where do you find all of the teams injured players listed? It’s not where it was in ‘17.#LFC

Re: How's your FIFA career mode going?
This is the first FIFA I've played since the initial PS4 release (that is '14), and I have to say I'm a little disappointed at how little has changed in the last four years. I suppose this is par for the course for EA sports' games, though.
There are a couple quality of life fixes I've noticed so far, but scouting is all exactly the same as it was, as is the youth academy. I hope youth development has been improved, at least. I do like the ability to now train five players a week to help with further development.
Most of the other improvements I've noticed are more presentation related (shots of the coach, stat overlays, and so on). A bit tired to hear the same announcing team for all of eternity; nothing against these guys, either, they're great, but how many FIFA games have they been on now? I guess it's just easier than having to record all those lines for a new team.
You have a bit more concrete goals in your career now, at least as a manager. Depends on which club you pick as to what areas are deemed crucial to improve/maintain. Evidently there is something else new dealing with contract negotiation, but I haven't come across that yet.
All the menus are the same, most even from the '14 era. Not much to say, overall. The mode remains somewhat shallow.Comment

Simmed the first week to see if the backup goalkeeper issue was fixed. NOPE. 7 teams played their backups in the very first match. Cech, Courtois, Mignolet, Ederson, de Gea, Lloris, and Gomes were on the bench. Seriously?! This is beyond ridiculous. Another year of having to edit everything to enjoy Career Mode! 😡#LFC

Re: How's your FIFA career mode going?
I started a career last night with Hull City. I was a avid player of the game in CM in FIFA 14-16 and liked the game. I didn't play much of 17 as I didn't feel in control of the players and I hate to say it this feels the same.
Passing doesn't feel crisp, the players take years to turn and the game just doesn't feel right. Am I missing something here as it has such a huge following. I love the realism side of FIFA with the kits etc but I played a lot of PES last year and loved it. It also has some flaws but on the pitch the game feels real and fluid and most of all you feel in control of the players.
I've messed around with sliders etc but I just can't get to like it. Anyone feel the same? Back to Madden and PES I think.Comment

Well for games YOU play, get a 2nd controller and edit CPU lineup. That's about all you can do, sadly.

Re: How's your FIFA career mode going?
I guess this is turning into a bit of an impressions thread, but my thoughts so far after playing a lot of matches this weekend (playing default Legendary):
Good:
- Transfer hub is helpful, training players is still fun (new drills are appreciated + mostly good), scouting is improved.
- Seeing some better transfer situations SO FAR (ie: not obviously stupid ones like United buying Kane and Aubymeang and playing neither, which happened often in Fifa 17).
- Transfer negotiation cutscenes are pretty funny, even if mostly skippable. i like the added layer of detail here.
- Goal scoring feels great. Link up play has been a lot of fun and i've scored a great variety of goals at all times of a game.
- Graphically strong. presentation is better than last year.
Not as good:
- CM options again a bit limited. Its sad EA wont blow out this mode more but UT clearly takes up the majority of their efforts.
- Header power/accuracy still feels really wonky and inconsistent.
- Defending has been far more challenging for me / feels way more manual than ever. I've been allowing the CPU to score at least 2 goals per game. Not sure whats really going on here - maybe I need to look into the sliders a bit because it feels like my CBs are always miles away from their strikers when they get the ball.Comment

Re: How's your FIFA career mode going?
Well, CMs aren't being used in CPU lineups. Mostly just CDMs. Like, ALL of them on the pitch at the same time. Last year, we could go into team sheets and adjust starting positions and it would fix it sometimes. This year, doing that doesn't work at all. So disappointing. Only way to get a guy like Pogba to make the starting lineup is to edit him to be a CDM.
