Training and player progression in career mode

I'm just curious what you guys do when you do training. Can anyone please answer a few questions?

    1. Do you train your young 19-20 year olds in your senior squad first?

    2. Do you train players in your youth squad your first year?

    3. How do you know which youth players to train? I have like 5 youth players who are mid to high 50's overall with a 88+ potential and some are in their 90's for potential.

    4. When do you promote them to the senior squad?

    5. When training, do you concentrate on just one person and try to use all the trainings on him or do you usually do two players?

    Thanks!

Personally, I train the weakest players who are in the "green."
It starts with the youngest players on my 1st team. Slowing it moves to the youth academy kids. I do this because the weakest players see the least amount of time in games.
I wait until the youth player asks to be promoted to the 1st team.
I always spread out the training. 5 different people will get trained.

I try to keep 25 (plus or minus 1 or 2) on my 1st team. I loan out the rest. While on loan, you can't train those players. This makes it slightly easier to choose who to train.

Lowest rated with high potential unless I have someone I'm trying to get to a certain overall or into the first team picture. I also find a young GK (transfer or youth) with high potential and train em twice a week to bump them up quickly since I do RTG and need a solid keeper that doesn't leak goals.

Always train goalkeepers. They do grow better without training this year but yeah just train them lol. I think using training or not depends on how many seasons you plan to do your save for. Growth without training this year is so ridiculous that at times you really don't even need to utilize it lol. Here is an example of it with a high potential/scout a future star youth player. I signed him as soon as possible.

As you saw in the first video and can see in this video CM's grow a lot in their stamina, finishing, long shots, dribbling, passing, etc. without training

Last year training too much could stunt physical growth and people are still trying to figure it out this year. In my opinion I wouldn't even bother training players other than GK's if you plan to do a save that's like 5 seasons plus. At the least you could get that huge growth physically and technically in the first 2 or 3 seasons and train after if you're impatient and you have a player that has a big gap between his overall and potential.

So wait, you're saying to NOT train players at all cause that stunts their growth? Confused. How? Not understanding you here.

And I assume you're playing these players in games, and not just letting them sit on the bench to develop, right?

Physical stats growth is quite ridiculous this year.Without training players physical stats grow pretty fast, quite unrealistic to see 92 pace players being 99 pace in 2 seasons.Usain Bolt maby deserves 99 acc and speed but no footballer lol and that stupid stats decrease starts, when players hit 30.Not only physical stats ,but also other stats like finishing and passing ,which is pretty unrealistic imo.Ronaldo had dropped his acc and speed by 10 points after one season. No way is he going to losoe his speed that way at the current age. This is really broken and should be adressed in the first patch.

He was only talking about the physical stats that can't be trained (like speed, acceleration, strength). If you train a player's skills too much it seemed like their physical stats wouldn't grow last year, or it could get stunted.

It doesn't seem to be the case this year, it seems like almost all of the youth players are going up in physical stats for me (trained or not). Although I would still think that if you train a player's skills very rapidly that he wouldn't have as much potential to grow in physicals, because he is already getting close to his potential by building his skills.

I'm not sure if this is really the case but what it seems to me is that there is no longer this "season cap" on growth (if you want to call it that) per season where a player could naturally only grow so much. Like once he got to around +5 in growth he couldn't grow any more naturally until the next season. While this year they can still get the "natural" growth even if you trained them well beyond +5 OVR growth. And I think that is why you see the pace/strength stats increasing more than in years past.

(This is just observation though and I've only simulated a few seasons)

If physicals actually grow for one, if they touch it, i will be pissed. we have gone so many years now with crappy physicals.

Re: Training and player progression in career mode

I promote youth players immediately because I care most about their work rates and their weak foot.

After that I train them based on their position. I don't train any player after they've reached a 70 overall because the natural progression is enough for me. But I'm not all that interested in having 85 overall 18 year olds.

The only players that I train in all 5 slots are CMs because I want them to be box-to-box players.

Isn't the the training in FIFA 17 limited to once a week?

I don't train anyone 19 or older. Look for young guys, there's a whole list on sofifa.com and futhead.com that have high potentials. I look for 16-17 yr olds primarily.
