Every game is 0-0 if you're on top

    Hi.

I have an issue when I'm leading the league, it seems I simply cannot score anymore. I've now had 4x 0-0 games in the last 5 games and one 0-1 loss. I don't find it realistic nor fun at all.

It's a real borefest to be honest, there's just nothing fun about playing 0-0 games. I don't mind losing either, but not scoring at all is getting frustrating.

And when I wasn't on top of the league I managed to score a lot more, but now it's just fighting versus superb defense, where everyone times their tackles just to perfection and every team forms a sort of a bus at the back and so on. Boring.

I'm playing on world class, but I'm just wondering if others are facing the same problems? And if you got any tips for me how to score goals.

I'm usually holding 65-70% possession, have about 10-15 shots with 85% shot accuracy, while AI has 2-3 shots and 30-35% possession.

I've come across the same problem recently. Played four games 0-0 and then, in the fifth game, I finaly managed to score and won the match 6-1. I don't know if the AI respectively the GK gets better whenever the system detects that you are ''too good'' or what sort of bug this is but you are not the only one experiencing this.

I have the same problem. I'm Napoli and was killing it. Scoring about 3-5 goals a game and even beat Barcelona in the preseason final. Get 5 or 6 games into league play and now it's either 1-1 or 0-0 every game

The new patch has made it harder to score. The goalies keep better position and the defensive line seems to be more active and deflect more balls. I've been having a tougher time breaking through since the update.

That being said its not the end of the world, we just need to find new ways to score. I actually like that the game changes from time to time as far as competitive balance. My career was getting stale and I wanted to leave for a new team but the new update has renewed the challenge for me.

yeah, it might be the patch, because thinking the game would force you to not score anymore if you're top table is one of the worst "scripting" conspiracy theories i've seen about fifa.

the game definitely has no catch-up code based on league tables. but if your strikers play bad one or two games, they might pick bad form and play a bit worse in the next few games. nothing overwhelming though, just a very mild and temporary ratings drop.

In a sense it's better and more realistic, but it's really not fun when every team is the same. There really should be more variation to playing for example versus Arsenal or versus Sunderland. Ok, maybe the premier league is a bad comparison, but say Barcelona or Sporting Gijon. There's no game breaking difference.

It seems like the computer only has 3 settings: Attack, Counter Attack and Defend.

At the end of the day though the elite teams play elite more often than not when it matters.

In my first two season of career mode (West Ham) I have finished 2nd in the FA Cup, 2nd in the Euro Cup, and lost in the Semis of the Champions Cup to Spurs, Man U and Real Madrid respectively. They were all statistically better than me and they played to win. I wish I would have won something but I'm glad that when I eventually do it'll be earned.

I also believe that it's the patch now, but I still have no idea what to do.

I'm getting tired of scoring only once in 15 shots. Also it seems I can't hit long shots to the net anymore, anyone else?

It's just not very fun to play like this so if anyone has any tips on scoring I'd be glad to hear

Agree with you on the long shots since patch! Hit my first shot outside the box last night after about 20 games after patch! I just went down to pro and tried it and its the same for me there. I've won games 1-0/ 2-0/ 0-0/ 0-0/ 1-0. Just lowered goalie to 30 and am trying that now. Just weird! was having great games before lost 4-0 and won 5-0 etc... more varied play I mean.

3 game sample here: Using os community sliders with only 3 tweaks- speed back up to 50 and goalies 30 RF 20. Made a huge difference, cpu actually played in the middle and didn't just charge up the pitch. I'm using a stacked City team with transfers so on paper I shouldn't lose many games. I beat charlton in cup 3-1 late aguero goal. Beat Middlesbourough 2-0 and then Crystal palace 3-2. Very happy with the play style in all those games. Made 2 long shots with Debruyne during the span as well. Hope it stays this way!

I fixed it for me by switching the default camera to Fifa 16 default. After that I won 3 games 3-0, 2-0 and 3-0. I don't really know if it worked, but it feels a lot better.

Still have rants about the AI tackles, they do some very ugly stuff and get away with it. I've been pulled so hard so many times that my player has literally stopped like to a brick wall and lost the ball. And that's just normal

Take my words back, I haven't figured it out after all. I thought after some good games I had it going on, but I'm back stuck at fighting against parked busses.

I try to take my time, focus on pass by pass, create the play from the beginning, but I have absolutely zero weapons to pass the parked bus. And almost every single team plays with the bus.

Defending in this game, by even championship side teams is extremely tight. Goaltending is superb, world class. I just played a 2-1 win over Swindon (yea, what is that team?) and dominated them, gave them 20% ball possession, but their goalkeeper was such a world class keeper. I just couldn't get my shots through. It was easier to pass their parked bus because the players are so low rated that they won't catch players like Walcott, but still extremely difficult to score.

You need to play faster when teams are packing the box with defenders. It sounds simple and stupid, but if you take possession and slowly work the ball up the pitch you are giving the entire defense time to get back into the box. If you have Theo Walcott against Swindon Town, as soon as you win possession you should be flying towards the goal and attacking the defenders as they retreat. No League One fullback is keeping up with a pacey winger in any game. Knock the ball on and turn on the jets.

And if you are popping shots from 20+ yards, then you're again playing into the hands of the tactic. You're not taking high percentage shots. It's not the game "scripting" anything against you; it's user error not maximizing chances against certain opponents.

If you do get caught with the defenders having retreated into the box before you can attack it, pass the ball back to your defenders and make them come out. Go all the way back to your keeper if necessary. Wait, let them come out, because they will, and then attack at pace.

                            Yeah, thanks for your reply.

For some reason when I play on Liverpool playing fast ball forward is much much easier. I score a lot of goals, currently leading the league with most goals scored.

But with Arsenal, a team with better overall ratings I struggle. I guess their play-style is much different or something, but it just doesn't suit me at all. The players at 85ish overall feel like 75 overall or something compared to liverpool. Only Walcott, Cazorla and Sanchez feel good to play with. Özil is very bad to play with despite of being 89 overall.

Both teams have "default" strategy as basic setting, so idk what's the difference between these two teams. But for some reason Liverpool plays basically as well as they play under Klopp. Arsenal plays more like Slaven Bilic was coaching them.

Default is default to that specific team. It's not a universal setting. If you go into edit teams and press X(or whatever that is on PS4... square?) on the default tactic you can see how the teams are set up to play. Some people believe this doesn't have any effect on how teams play, but I'm inclined to think it does.

Liverpool plays a fast, high-press style. Very in your face. The wingers are likely set to get in behind and the players are allowed to roam around.

Arsenal plays a slow, possession-based style. Playing little one-twos and basically trying to walk the ball into the net. That's likely how the game has them set.

There are also default instructions for the sides on their default tactics which will also influence how the teams behave.

And remember that overall isn't the end all, be all for a player to suit how you play. Per Mertesacker has a decent overall, but I don't think most people trust him on the pitch with how FIFA runs. Even though his playing IQ more than makes up for his speed in real life.
