FIFA 17 - MLS and Elite Players?

So... I'm going to finally start my long term career soon and probably as Columbus again. Last year, I kept having players once they got to 80+, wanting to leave constantly... despite my club being in the top 3 year in, year out.

Thing that bothered me most, is most of the players were from my youth system. Only the couple I had recruited from the USA didn't pull this. Home Sick was a very common theme pulled...

Anyone know if such is still consistent with the MLS? Or maybe I was just having awful luck in FIFA 16 and my Columbus career.

They need to replace "homesick" with "needs a change" or "wants to play for a bigger club" or "wants to move in a different direction at this point of his career" or "wants higher wages" something.

Have you tried offering them more money?

In FIFA 16 I simmed a Toronto FC career mode where I didn't play the games (except the MLS Final) and just made management decisions. I probably did this for about 4 years or so. The only player I remember asking to leave who was over 80 OVR was Giovinco who was around an 85 OVR at the time. However, he didn't feel "homesick," he just straight up asked to leave. I used the money from his transfer to sign players in the 80's to free transfers (way over market value so they would play in the MLS). None of these players ever asked to leave because I always ended up selling them in the next transfer window for crazy money. by the time I stopped playing the save I turned Giovinco and Michael Bradley into James Rodriguez, Neymar, and Harry Kane.

For FIFA 17 I started my main career mode with Toronto FC again, and in the year and a half of managing them I didn't have anybody get homesick. I should note that most of the players on TFC are from North America (70%ish Canada, 25%ish USA, and Giovinco) which should help on the homesick front.

I should ask, were most of your youth academy players that became homesick originally from the USA or elsewhere?
