Downside to using an MLS team...

So... my team is currently the best in the MLS by far. Each of the last 3 years I've won by 20+ points overall... with a GD of 10+.

Anyway... now that a few of my players are getting in the 79+ area, they're feeling they're "too big" for the club. I've already lost 1 player because of this and have another wanting to leave now as well. :\

I attached a screenshot of my team atm. This totally sucks... just hoping atm that my goalie stays, since he is American and the starting goalie for team USA.

It's one reason I've considered moving the Crew to England recently. Though, German second league could be a good option as well.

And thanks. Been spending a lot of time building through the youth squad.

Ahh. Cool. I'll take a look over the German rosters and see which team I'll replace, or I may stick them in Spain. It's crossed my mind as well.

Is EA still using the old playoff format for MLS (with 5 teams qualifying)? I could swear I did a sim and that was the case. If so, that would be another downside to using an MLS team.

Make this 3 players now that have wanted to leave... this one says he's 'doubting' he wants to leave, but probably will anyway. -_-

Edit:: Well... Ricci just sold for $60,000,000

Wow, that guy is/was good! 81 rating at 18 with HPTBS potential!

I've had this problem over the past couple of years, particularly with my created player that has grown to around 80 and thinks he's "too big for the club". I never want to lose him and I've had some success keeping him by offering lots of money, making him captain a lot, praising him in the media, etc. Currently, I've strung him along through two transfer windows by doing these things and not allowing transfer bids. This runs the risk of having the board sell him out from under you (that's happened to me in the past).

So ultimately you can try to keep them, or just hold out for a big transfer fee, like you did with Ricci. At least then you can replace them with a very good player.

Good luck with your MLS career. I've tried that in the past, but it's just not as enjoyable as playing in Europe with the multiple domestic cups, Euro League, Champions League, etc. I also usually hold out for a european international manager job to compete in the European Championships, etc. I'm currently managing Wales, which is a pretty fun national team that can compete with the bigger national teams.

You should move the entire MLS league to a European league that only has 1 division. That way you'll play the league games like if you're in the MLS, but your real challenge will be competing in the Champions/Europa. If you put the MLS league in England or Germany, you'll never play against the other MLS teams because they will all be stuck in the second division while you're in the first division as most of them won't be able to compete against the German or English teams. Just my opinion.

Couldn't you move some MLS teams to Argentina league & mix it with some of the best Argentinian, Brazilian, Chilean & Colombian teams to make an American Super league, do you think they still would want to leave so quickly???

No other European league has 20 teams so you would have to leave so out anyway
