Re: Contiential cups in career mode?
Sorry, but there are no continental leagues for MLS, the J League and the K League's teams to participate in. It honestly does reduce the desire to play with those teams for the long term, especially without the additional pressures of promotion/ relegation. -
Re: Contiential cups in career mode?
did you find these info somewhere online bro? if you are correct i m so disappointed again years after years, what's the point of using a j-league mls team in career mode if theres no games play against teams from other countires in contiental cupsComment

Re: Contiential cups in career mode?
To answer whats the point? I guess if you were a fan of an MLS, J League, or K League club it may be more enjoyable for you to play as your favorite team even if there is only one competition to compete for every season. Basically it would be the same as playing as the same franchise in Madden, NHL, NBA 2K, MLB The Show, etc.
For FIFA 17 I started at Toronto FC because I'm Canadian and wanted to build a team of talented Canadian YA players to be competitive at future FIFA World Cups when I inevitably managed Canada's national team. Anyway I won the MLS playoffs the first season, and got bored midway through the second season and left to become the manager at Celtic so I could bring them back to glory in Europe. So I guess that's one reason to play as an MLS team in FIFA.Comment

Re: Contiential cups in career mode?
Since it was announced that the Chinese Super League won't be in FIFA 18, I highly doubt that the FIFA developers decided to create a fake continental championship for the AFC region. Also since the Copa Libertadores isn't licensed, I'm not sure why they can't just add the MLS clubs to that competition, or create a continental cup between MLS and Liga MX teams.

Re: Contiential cups in career mode?
Hey man thanks for you reply, i am also Canadian and used whitecaps in fifa 17, then switch mls to Columbia league so that i will get to play against teams from other league and also would love to coach the Canada national team, but they never gave me an invitation instead i coached Scotland i think...i am just hoping somehow an AFC cup or a cup MLS teams can get involved in Fifa 18 career mode will be dream comes true

My strategy was to pretty much replace most of the current national team with high potential youth academy players in the first few seasons. I started by training a high potential GK to an 84 OVR. Then you need to work to fill gaps in attack and defense by training young ST and defenders up, and finally you need to replace aging midfielders when their play begins to drop off. My current lineup in a 3-4-3 system looks like this in 2024 (with Larin, Henry and Hamilton being the only non-YA players in my first team.
Hamilton (74) - Larin (83) - YA ST(89)
YA LM(85) - YA CM(84) - YA CDM(78) - YA LM(85)
YA CB (77) - YA CB (78) - Henry (79)
YA GK (84)
I also have a YA CAM (82), several YA CB's (74-76), YA RM (83), and others coming off the bench.
For FIFA 18 I expect Canada to be a bit better to begin with because of their strong play at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, and the emergence of Davies and Edwards among other younger players.Comment

Re: Contiential cups in career mode?
I honestly can't quite remember what my lineup looked like in the first year or so, but Hutchinson, Larin, Hoilett, Arfield, Johnson, and Henry aren't bad players to begin with. Hutchinson will regress fairly quickly though, and the others besides Larin pretty much are what they are and won't really improve but have a while before they start to regress. Larin has the potential to be a beast (he rose to a 83 OVR, and plays for PSG in my career mode in the year 2024). Ricketts isn't a highly rated player, but he is super fast and strong so you should be able to make up for his lack of technical skills and this makes him an underrated player to use in FIFA 17.
