A great product sells itself, no "back of the box" features required! (See Fifa...)

Re: FIFA 18 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
It's only against pic, but these things need to be looked at:
- pc long shots, I've played 25 games where I've counted stats, and pic long shots are 22 taken, 20 goals, 1 post and 1 complete misfire. WAY OP!
- shielding the ball doesn't work, pic just picks it from between your legs almost every time very easily.
- user defenders, they're basically useless! ARM I wouldn't spend anymore than entry level coins for CB, there's no difference between Ramos and a 75 rated CB.
Midfield passing, unlike CBs, you NEED mids that can pass, difference between an 82 and 84 mid in astronomical!!!!! 82 rating should still be good but they're bordering on useless.
Crossing is OP, I've been staying away from it because it's too easy to score with, and this is just the demo, if it's like this on release everyone's gonna be doing crosses all day long.Comment

Lighting is an issue, play in daylight and you can't tell teams apart, yellow and white.
Field heading is an issue, almost every header misses target by a huge amount.
PC shot and pass blocking is crazing, they seem to have a 1 metre wall around their legsComment

Re: FIFA 18 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
CBs are next to completely useless. If it stays like this can we have a formation with only 1 CB, or maybe even none!
Why do they always move away from goal like that!? They actually move allowing the ball carrier goal side instead of moving them awayComment

I noticed that! Also Atletico, especially Griezman...try taking a shot from anywhere with him, it's pinged in like a missile...Guess that's his reward for being so prominent in EA's promo vids...YouTube Channel: FBCComment

The colors are really bugging me. I wonder if I can adjust my tv for them. As an example Man city at King Fahad stadium seemed really washed out. Chelsea at La Bombanara seemed way to dark. Ugh. (I am sure I butchered those stadium names) They did look decent in Real Madrids stadium though. Xbox One here.

Re: FIFA 18 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
THIS is exactly what I was thinking as I was playing the demo....
I remember playing the FIFA 16 demo way back when (on Professional level of all things) thinking man....the dev team has finally shown some major love to the sim community....And then when the retail version came out, there was something different that I couldn't put my finger on that made it feel just off....So not so sure I will pick this up on release day until its confirmed regarding what "version" we will actually get.
But what I can say now is that I'm leaning towards FIFA potentially being my soccer-go-to-game for the year. I feel like I actually have to be patient and have an actual build up to my offense b/c of the midfield jostling/action (compared to PES where I feel like I can breeze through the midfield into the final third with no problem especially via the wings).
Yeah, pass % could be improved as always on the CPU side (as in, less completed passes), but I think no franchise will get this right, right out of the box or without slider adjustments (which atleast FIFA has). And of course, we don't really know yet how team styles will be based on the 4 minute demo.
But man...that presentation though...awesome stuff!
If the custom team tactics would have worked than that game would have be the best footy game to date.
I get some of the same feelings with this demo but like I said in my article, I hate FIFA demos because of the short time length. It makes the CPU play way too direct and forces you to do the same. I'm a patient, boring manual player that likes to hold possession. Much like Pep I have NO Plan B lol.Comment

I remember getting my review copy of FIFA 2016 early and thinking to myself, "man this game is about sim as you can get out of the box." Then the patches came.

Whoever said that passing on manual felt like pushing a bowling ball up the field is entirely correct. I actually applaud what I think was an attempt to give a greater range within the pass slider though, but I feel like it may be too low relative to the time required to hold the button to get the right power in a given context.
It's not a big deal since I think in full retail it could be remedied with the meter slider.Comment

This was my experience with the power bar slider in the last 2 years at least.Comment

Re: FIFA 18 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
Finally got a chance to download the demo.
Wish Normal wasn't the only speed available to try. Still way to quick for my liking.
Nice to see they added the new kick off rule change. Just 1 player to kick off and the ball can be kicked in any direction.
I'm seeing lots of collisions and no calls. Also nice to see that every foul isn't been given a yellow card. I'm purposely going in hard on tackles just to see what happens. The vast majority of them I'm getting away with a stern warning from the ref.
The CPU passing isn't 100% accurate anymore. I'm seeing heavy touches, misplaced passes and crosses going above everyone's head for throw-ins and goal kicks. Very pleased with this.
More variety from the CPU goalkeeper. He's not just kicking it straight up the middle anymore, he's picking sides a lot of the time too.Comment

Re: FIFA 18 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
A question I have asked here before for previous versions: if the game out of the box is terrific and you find that with patches the game becomes less enjoyable, can you go back to the out of the box version like people have done for Madden in 17? For those who aren't familiar, many thought even with some poor coding for some things in the game, the out of the box version of Madden 17 played better for a sim game than later patched versions. All that was needed was to disconnect from the internet, delete then reload the game, and you'd have your profile and saved games still there but would be playing version 1.0 or 1.01. While we'd need to see if Fifa18 is strong out of the box in the first place, is reverting to an out of the box version possible or something to consider if one doesn't care for the patches they put out?
I'm pretty sure you can BUT I don't know what happens with squads and defaulting to some older update.
I think you'll be fine with the summer transfers but the winter one's probably wouldn't work. I'm sure some folks on here could chime in and help you out.
Also, I posted this in the HDR thread but to me FIFA just plays better on the Xbox 1 than it does on the PS4. The PS4 Pro is so smooth and responsive that it makes all of the movements appear like they're gliding. Even the game speed on normal feels better to me on the XB1. Such a really weird feeling and it could be 100% placebo. It's odd though because I love PES on the PlayStation.
Ugh, 1st world problems.
