Gameplay Patch

Does anyone know a way to prevent the game downloading the patch once it comes out? I say this because I'm really enjoying this year's FIFA but so often EA bring out a patch and just ruin the gameplay.

I'm not sure if you can prevent it but I'd also appreciate it.
Played on PS4 last weekend and just downloaded the PC version, patch was automatically installed and the game feels like its 30% faster now. Very disappointing.

On ps4 i think you must go to system\automatic downloads & uploads\application update files

tried to play after new update, but it crashes while playing a match everytime now. lol, great update.

if i re-install the game, i still get the newest version or how to downgrade?



Problem Solved : deleted a folder called 'Patch' in FIFA18 folder.

Have the same issue...really angry about the new patch, absolutely no need for it and has ruined what was an original experience. Initially Fifa 18 played so differently to all other FIFAs and now it is identical to FIFA 17. I tried deleting the folder named Patch but that just froze the game. Someone suggested buying the DVD and playing it without using ORigin, ie signing in but exiting origin and playing from the desktop icon. I haven{t tried it yet but have ordered the DVD version as I loath what they have done.

I assume you guys are on PC?
If you find the game too fast post-patch, can you try 2 things?
Play a kick off match and see what the speed is like.
Quickly start a new cm and see the same thing.

Had the same problem but turns out this is not a bad gameplay patch, but it's probably buggy in some way. Starting a kick off match seems to fix the game engine.

i got the patch working now, had to repair to download some language-files i guess.

Well, about the patch..... they indeed speed up the gameplay, now it's back to old FIFA arcade and i'm even playing on 'slow'. i think 30% faster isn't too wrong guessed. How could they even do such a dramatic change? it really feels completely different.

I played kick-off match btw.

For those of us that live in the boonies, is there a way to get PC patches downloaded at school and bring them home to install on PC? I'm looking for the roster updates but my ISP has stopped my internet for hitting my limit

I didn't experience the return to normal state despite playing several games today (exhibition, several games in new CM in different leagues). The game is really faster and it seems to me it has lost its superb inertia. I think dribbling and long passes are way easier now it feels like players can turn on a dime now). Also it seems to me the cpu attack has more elements from the previous tittles (15,16) such as the quick string of 3-4 passes at the entry of the box for a first time shot. CPU build up feels less impressing/ human. I really hope my feelings are wrong and that's only a one day thing.
I kept a back up of folder of the game before patch, that I will able to play by turning Origin off line. I will compare the two versions when I will find some time.

You're right guys, it is such a dramatic change that it can't be the intended gameplay. The ball was much faster, the animations too, there was no weight and inertia like papinho mentioned. I know because I played 3-4 matches like that yesterday, but after trying the kick off match it seems to have reverted back to normal today for me. Hope it will be back to normal for you too.

unfortunately I didn't make a spare copy of the game somewhere else god I wish I had. I am now not going play anymore Fifa 18 until I find a solution to this. I need to go back to the release date gameplay otherwise I am just not interested. Have order a DVD which is coming on Monday. Hopefully I can use it without the updates. Looking into PES as an alternative this year which is a real, real shame.

deleting patch folder can turn the game back to first release version??
