Career mode contract expiring in 6 months time

Can I sing a player on January whose contract is expiring in 6 months to join me in July?

I heard there is a bug

I think the bug some people were seeing was the player wouldn't join that summer but rather the next winter. Furthermore the issue seemed to pop up if you had disabled the first transfer window when you started your career.

I had no issues signing a player in Jan and they joined the club that following summer and I did NOT disable the first window.

I was able to sign Alexis Sanchez this way and Martial as well. (sanchez first season and Martial second year)

i think the problem was, disabling the first transfer window made players not come til the following january but only in the first season. After that everything seems to work like normal. But yes, if you sign a guy on a pre contract in the first january window, chances are you wont get him until the 2nd january window
