Online Seasons - Is there a boost if player A is in higher division?

I’ve been curious about this for a few years, probably starting with 16. But, specifically, I’m a strictly online player and have been for years. I consider myself fairly good, but honestly my record is only around 50/50 W/L with a good amount of draws. So, technically, I’d say I’m above .500. I tend to hover around division 3-5 in seasons. I try to play more of a real soccer match, but I also play aggressive fast pace, so some true soccer fans might think I play an arcade style. But, I often set up nice build up play and mix crosses and only a few special moves here and there.

Anyways, just wanted to give a brief on how I play before I get into the question. So, I struggled ENORMOUSLY at first with 18, and was stuck in division 8 or 9, FOREVER. lol. And, the whole time, it just felt like, ‘why won’t my player tackle him?! He’s right THERE! I pressed B! Tackle him!!!!’ I was constantly 1 step behind it felt like on D. Ultimately, I started to learn the timing and the amount of pressure to give the B button to strengthen the standing tackle. And, I’ve gotten better with my slide tackles which are few and far between. But, the weird thing is, I didn’t really feel like I was getting that much better and I continued to feel like my AI players just didn’t have proper spacing and weren’t in the proper D positions, and the classic, ‘when I change my player, the cpu always decides to make me the WRONG defender who can’t do anything!!’ Lol.

But, I still won enough games to advance. Once I got to division 5, I started to dominate. Every one of my passes was to the correct player (meaning, the cpu didn’t screw up and pass to the wrong guy which it has frequently in 17 and was doing from time to time in 18 causing me to lose games, actually), the game was flowing correctly, and honestly, I don’t feel like I was doing anything differently, but my players were FINALLY in proper D position and was getting more steals, and the timing of my passes was great, and I really setup some fabulous goals that were very realistic. The games were pretty fluid and enjoyable, even the losses.

Now, I’m in division 4, and im sorry, it’s not the competition. It’s the game. It’s like the game just plays bad. Every one of my passes is garbage. And, again, I know how it sounds, and many reading this may think it’s my fault, but I can’t stress enough how much I play this game, lol, and I know when it’s ‘off’. As an example, I have a great situation with a player making a run, and I give him a though pass at the right time and instead, the pass just dribbles off my foot leading him backwards? Lol. And, just similar issues - really bad passes that, legit, are out of my control. I can press the power and aim, in general, but sometimes this game has a mind of its own.

So, what I’m actually curious about is if anyone thinks there is a boost associated with various game matchups. And, I’ll give u a few different scenarios that I’ve ‘felt’ and just wonder what others think.

    1. Let’s say player A is in div 3 and player B is in div 5. I’m not sure how often this happens or what the algorithms are for this, but I’ve never noticed my opponents division, so I’m not even sure I can. But, what I wonder here is, would they make the player A play bad? Make the game give him a few extra bad passes? A few extra bobbles? Make him take a little longer to possess the ball? And/or, does it make player B more accurate? I say this, because I’ve lost games to some shots where I’ve just felt like the D was absolutely there, and only fifa garbage would let a player score like that! Lol.

    2. Player A needs a win for the div title in last game of season vs player B whatever. Does player A get a boost? To lift that champ cup? Does the cpu give a minor boost to the players. Again, I’ve ‘felt’ this before in those big games and my team has rolled over someone I thought played a good match, even.

And, ultimately, I have absolutely been on the winning end of these games as well. It’s not just losses I’m concerned with or curious about. I’ve absolutely played against an opponent that I felt was better than me the way they moved the ball and whatnot, and yet every one of my passes was money and I win 4-0 or something and I see his players struggling. Lol.

And/or, is form really built into this game? Like, if I lose 3 in a row, will my team continue to struggle until I play a more patient composed game? Or, will it give me a boost to finally win a game?

I mean, I feel like I’ve encountered these scenarios and the game just plays ‘weird’ sometimes. Again, I never know the division level of my opponent, but from game to game when u suddenly play someone who feels like a scrub, but NO ONE on your squad can tackle ANYBODY!!! And, u lose 0-4 to some garbage goals. Lol. And, your players take a half hour to capture a pass and turn. It’s just infuriating. Lol.

Anyways, curious if some seasons players notice this.

The other thing I wonder about is lag. I do think my connection is a little slow these days, and often, when I try to do a Roulette, it does some other screwy trick move. So, I wonder if the lag hits when I press a button, and ultimately causes a glitch. But, overall, I’ve had plenty of clean games that still felt ‘off’. So, anyways, just curious.
