Me and a friend are trying to get something going. We’re sick and tired of the Ultimate Team/myClub infested products which are FIFA and PES these days.

We grew up playing the old PES games which were all about gameplay and career modes.

Now it’s all about cash and we are desperate for a third developer and publisher to come along and challenge the ‘Big 2’.

So please, come and get involved. We’re trying to get the ball rolling and need like minded gamers to join us on our crusade!

The reason why we don't have a third developer in the market anymore is because there is absolutely no way to compete against Konami and EA in terms of licensing nowadays. So it's pretty pointless to put millions of dollars into something if you won't be able to include real brands, teams, players, tournaments.

Plus it's not that easy to make a football game. All developers who tried to compete against Konami and EA in the past failed miserably. Sony, SEGA, Ubisoft, they all tried and ended up in pure garbage games.

We could go for a small developer, but I don't think they would be able to make something any better than FIFA and PES.

In short, football gaming is probably the most complicated video gaming niche to get into.

No, basketball is much harder, which is why 2k failed big time this year vs. Fifa, just solely talking about off-line

have you tried fifa with custom sliders and settings? While it's still far from perfect, they make the game more realistic.

I think the poster meant it's difficult because there are so many individual licenses that you need to acquire before you can even start:

FIFPRO - licenses all of the actual players
Individual Country Leagues
Individual Country Cups
UEFA (Champions/Europa League, EUROs)
FIFA - World Cup
etc...


Hoops is no doubt hard to break in because of the grip 2K has but the NBA seems to be more lenient when it comes to exclusivity.

Do we really need licenses? A fully easy customizable simulation base game with great graphics and animations. The community would create all players, kits, leagues etc.. of the world in less than year i bet.

I have but I can't stand FIFA this year. I always buy both PES and FIFA, and alternate between both as I grow tired of one, but this year I've tried getting into this year's FIFA, but can't play more than one game.
