Just trying to get a grasp on everything, but loving every minute of it. It's a cool frustrating feeling because I have found something that I wonder how I never got into before (the dumb 'merican in me thinking soccer was slow lol).
That's exactly how I was when I started Ham Ham FC in 2014.

There's so much content available today for the United States when it comes to soccer.

Do you have a PC that plays games as well? I've been getting into Football Manager as well to learn as I continue to learn more about the sport.

Playing with MLS teams is fine but when it comes to the nuts and bolts it's the worst thing you can learn from. It's the fast food equivalent of soccer, no relegation, every team works together so there's no competition, salary cap, just no lol

I have been thinking about picking up Football Manager. I am going to pick a team in Premiere and run with them for a bit.

The biggest thing in career is getting used transfers, different Cups, and etc. So different than American sports but very interesting.

It took me a while to understand the differences from what I grew up with in the US but I find football so fascinating now. Relegation will be something too to learn about when you get out of MLS and into a premiere league team. Imagine the Orioles being put into AAA next year! And I recall a few years ago someone was freaked out that they finished a premiere league season and there were no playoffs. I'm not sure what they do in the game for the MLS teams.
Football manager is VERY deep and can be daunting. There's alot to do in that game.

Can someone post the top 3 best beginner tutorials?

I'd like to compete online this year too. by compete I mean not get beat 5-0 every game. At least keep it close.

Really enjoying the online modes this year. Usually I am solely an offline player.

Being in the UK I forget how alien stuff like relegation and transfers are to people in the US, it's all we've ever known here. Likewise, I have pretty much no idea what's happening in NFL, but I digress....

Tips for FIFA (and soccer) beginners:

            1. Watch as much of the real thing as you can. If that's MLS then fine, but would strongly suggest watching some English Premier League or La Liga. It will give you new ideas of how to move the ball around in FIFA, how to create chances, and more importantly how to defend (something a lot of FIFA players struggle with)

            2. Practice passing it around the pitch, especially try not to always pass forwards immediately - often the best way to goal is not the quickest or the most direct. It will also get you used to the controls generally.

            3. Defending - don't dive in! Hold L2 (or LT) to have your controlled player always face the opponent with the ball and use button to 'jockey' them. Only press tackle when you're pretty certain of success (again, watch real soccer and you'll see an equivalent of this).

            4. Don't worry too much about transfers to start with, but if you're interested, this website lists all players in the game including their potential rating after a few years - https://sofifa.com

Hope some of this helps

              question about game modes -

If i just want to play a season say with the EPL, it's tourney right? I will only play the season games with the current rosters correct? No UEFA or FA cup if I choose EPL tourney?

in Career mode - I get to play my club with the current rosters plus all the other tourneys right? for example, if I do EPL club I get to play FA Cup and UEFA? But since it has transfers, the rosters will change for the other teams the CPU Controls?

If that's right, is there a way I can do career mode with current rosters all the way through? Where I can turn off transfers by the CPU?

OK, first that's 'questions' not 'question'

                1. Yes to just play EPL season, select that in tourney. One gentleman selects user control for each team and plays the home side of every game. Rosters as you load them for the tourney will be what you use.

                2. In CM, if you select Man City, for example, you will play in the EPL (naturally), the league cup, the FA cup and the Champions League. When you start your CM, there is an option (bottom middle I think it was) where you can turn OFF the summer transfer window. There will be no player movement until January (then the game will do as it will). So you'll get into the winter in Champions league playing with the current rosters. Likewise, the clubs in your league will also start transfers in January. I don't believe in CM there is an option to turn transfers off period. So if you want to play just with the current rosters without any changes the tournament mode would be the way to go, but you wouldn't get the other tourneys.

There may be an option where you can play with latest rosters but that may just be play now or when you start a CM (however if you edit stadia names and you start a CM with 'download latest rosters' you'll lose all those changes). I've never done the option where you just play with latest rosters from week to week, don't even know if that is still in there but maybe someone else could help with that.

So, I have been watching a little bit of "Krasi" on Youtube. He has a lot of great tutorial videos for FIFA 19. Below is the link to his channel.

Hey fellas. I was in your newbie boat about five years ago. Thankfully a guy on OS emailed some detailed info about transfers and how the franchise world of soccer works. It may be slighlty outdated but I would be happy to email it to anyone that would like to read through. It's not overly long just simplifies a lot of things I didn't know anything about.

PM me your email and I'll send it along. Hope it helps.
