I can't believe it. Spent hours editing the stadiums and squads. Started a new career and it still wiped all my edits...PERMANENTLY!!!!! This familiar old bug still bites hard, even doing the workaround. So @#$*$!× annoyed!!!!!!

Remind me then what should be the sequence to edit and keep the edits moving into a CM? In the past anytime there was a roster update that you downloaded it wiped everything out. Last year at least I found that I could download a new roster without losing the edits, but I didn't really start a new career (just used the new roster in tournaments). Thanks.

Excuse me for the probably stupid question, but how do you edit these stadiums? Is it a menu option I have missed?

In 18 if you went into customize edit teams there was an option to edit stadium. You could then rename your generic stadium or change to another stadium. You could only edit the generic stadia (ie, you can't rename Old Trafford "Sir Alex Ferguson" stadium). I would assume the current game would have similar options (I should be picking it up today)

There is an issue where after you do all this work (if you rename many stadia or reassign teams to new ones vs the defaults) where they could be wiped out...that's what I'm trying to find out how to avoid.

This happens when you select download latest squads when starting a career mode. To prevent you need to load your squad, download updates on the squads screen, then select current customized squads when starting a new career mode.

Thank you! That may be why I didn't run into it last year and as long as I'm not drinking when playing shouldn't make that mistake!

Yea, as most are saying...the key is to never pick download latest squads from the CM start menu. Just do customized.

If you DO choose download latest, your changes still exist, just won’t be in the CM. So all the hours of work wasn’t lost lol

I made sure I downloaded latest squads before starting my cm, then loaded my customised squads again. Finally, I started my cm...and would you believe it, it automatically began downloading latest squads! Can I really be that unlucky?

Further to this, back in the main menu, my edited squads save was gone! No edited grounds or squad. I'm sure there is something wrong here.

It automatically downloads the latest when you start if you do not currently have the latest downloaded, but you can still start with your custom squad.

To be certain, I'd download the latest squads, but then go and load your custom, edited squad file—then start a career and select current for your squads.

Stadium edits will be in place—just tested it.

Just experienced the 'delete all your edit work' that some others have. Followed all the steps and it still deleted all my stadium name changes. 3 hours of work gone.

Ugh.

Edit 1: Found out why. In previous FIFA's it always allowed you to choose 'custom, download latest, default' from the CM start screen. This year, it didn't give me a choice it auto downloaded the update. Which then deleted everything I had just worked on. MFers.

Edit 2: Alright, just grinded it out in 90 min this time. No new squads to download since it just did like 2 hours ago. Started a save and it worked. Also 'saved squads' to see if that will make a difference next time it downloads the squads again.

I don't know how you guys grind it out. I quit after doing England, Germany, Italy, and Spanish leagues.

As a nerd with multiple years of experience messing with squads in FIFA—always, always, always save your own squads and name them. Do not just let FIFA auto-save them to your profile for you.

Save them yourself, and then save it again under a different name. This way, you never lose anything as you always have two copies.

Should you have to do that? No, but it's the best policy.

not sure what I did.

changed all the names for MLS.

Went into a play now game and they did not show up.

Tried again but on play now, turned off 'live' mode or something.

Then they showed up.

Then they showed up.

Live Kick Off or whatever applies their updated rosters (featuring temporary overall changes based on form) instead of using yours. The stadiums are tied to your roster.

I updated MLS stadiums before starting a career mode, but when the updated rosters starting downloaded, I hit cancel (O on PS4) before hey could complete the download. There was an option to use "Current Squads" before starting and it worked.

I made sure to save after editing, and then load again before entering CM, just to be safe.
