    AI Shooting Ridiculously Overpowered

    Hi all,

I've played about 10 games on FIFA 19. I reckon the CPU (on world class) has scored more goals from outside the box / volleys than I've seen since I started playing FIFA 10 years ago!

Anyone else notice this? Have any tips on how to stop it?

    Thanks

I’ve only played on Legendary and Ultimate, but I will say on Ultimate the shooting is outrageous. Some of the goals that have been scored on me are downright stupid. The other day I had the CPU score a first time volley from the corner of the 6 yard box...

I may be wrong but this could just be tactical, I play on legendary and haven't conceded a goal from outside the box yet. Perfect 40 yard cross-field balls volleyed in from an impossible angle by a 73OVR striker, plenty. But nothing from outside the box. Maybe look at the marking slider or your defensive pressure and defensive setup when the opposition have the ball etc.
      Yeah.

I've noticed on Legendary (I've only played legendary) that the AI has incredible shooting power. I mean these balls are coming at my goalie at like 80mph it's insane. Had to tone down their shot speed. Mine was nowhere near as ridiculous.

I take this back, there's definitely an issue with shooting outside the box being overpowered for the CPU. The majority of the goals I concede now are shots from outside the box. The last 4 games I've played, 2 I dominated, 1 was close, the other I lost 4-1. Every game I saw the same goal scored, a first time shot from 20 to 25 yards that swerves powerfully and perfectly placed into the top corner with the animation/"ball physics" I've not seen in previous FIFA's.

I've got my sliders to the point where the rest of the game plays brilliantly/as realistic as I'd like but the moment any player gets the ball from a good shooting angle from inside 25-30 yards and a second to shoot, there's only one result. I even raised the CPU shot error slider to 80 at one point and same thing. My guess would be that it would have to be timed shooting, EA always say that the CPU plays like the human in terms of it has no advantages, has the same input options, control over the players etc so the CPU would have timed shooting as well and because it's the CPU, it's perfect almost every time. Going to turn it off and see how it goes.

I think first touch is the issue with it, at 50 the cpu can trap too precisely and transition into a shot. Shot error is probably a bit too low at default as well.

I read a post in the sliders thread about adjusting the CPU shot error to 60 and increasing user GK and tried it out with the rest of the sliders there. I played around with it and have the CPU shot error at 58 (user 52), my GK at 52 and CPU GK at 48. I’m on world class too. It’s certainly put a stop to me losing heavily like I was. Results and games are more competitive now.

                  Re: AI Shooting Ridiculously Overpowered

CPU shots are OP and sliders won't help. Changing difficulty level affects the cpu more than anything else.

I was playing on legendary with shot error at 60 and GKs at 60, several matches seemed fine and then there was one where I conceded 4 (!) perfectly placed shots in the top corner and there was nothing anyone could do. A couple of them ridiculous first touch ones, and that was with lower league teams.

Sure enough, reading the help text in the sliders screen ...helps:
"Shot Error: ... Amount of Error Applied to normal shots. This doesn't affect other types of shots (i.e. finesse)".

Most of the shots that are laser guided to the top corner are finesse shots and the AI WILL use them.
Very annoying from EA. There are many different types of shots/passes in the game, other than the "normal" ones, and sliders don't apply to any of them. Just why?!

in the first game I played after turning off timed shooting, I got outplayed for basically the entire game by a not very good Levante (playing as Celta) but still drew 1-1 (I scored counter attacking early, they equalised after a lot of pressure late) and they had something like 16 shots with 10 on target and I feel like 2 or 3 specifically of those chances would normally go in. Might just be a coincidence.
                    Yeah.

dunno, a lot of the goals I have a problem with involving a player running onto a pass and shooting first time, no trapping involved
                      Yeah.

i agree that its a problem.
I had the cpu at 45 and still it whacked shots in at a silly pace. I suspect its the scripting and nothing will stop it(including the goalie)
Lets not forget that the ball these days is like a balloon as its designed to make curve shots easier for tv viewiers
I would like to see todays cossetted players whack a heavy case ball like Bobby Charlton. Georgie best would have todays ball moving every which way he had so much skill, balance, control and two feet.
