I wanted to see how many people use the timed shooting mechanism. I for after playing the game since release just cannot use it. I find by the time I time it just right the defense get in place for a block. Then on shot shots the timing bar just makes me shoot high. So I decided to turn it off.

I use it mostly on long shots, headers from corners, or 1v1 with the keeper.

I don't particularly see the value. Most often my shots end up being weak. I'll use it for corner kicks.

I agree with both of you. On long shots I pulled off a nice timed shot with Erickson. One I only get that type of opportunity once in about ten matches, especially a reasonable long distance shot.

If you're not using it, you're missing out.

You're missing out on two (maybe three) things. First, you put yourself at a disadvantage. Those timed shots are the easiest way to score, especially the timed finesse shots that are seriously OP right now and likely will get nerfed in the first patch based on feedback. And if you're playing against the CPU on the highest difficulty settings, you might need it.

Second, you're missing out on the best shot animations in the game. Not only are the screamers something special to see, but the scuffed shots are even better. The variety it adds to the game is great.

Third, and I guess this depends on your ability, you're missing out on a lot of fun. This feature was implemented so that it'd be difficult to master, so if you're struggling to get to grips with it, that's how it's suppose to be (with the exception of finesse shots, which are super easy to master). But I'd say give it some time because once you get in the groove with it, timed finishing is a real blast and adds something new to gameplay. There's nothing quite like winning at the whistle from a timed finish.

I'm really enjoying it and think it's a great addition. If you're not using it, you're missing out.

I don't know if they implemented it to be as arcadey as I thought it'd be but I hate the concept so I haven't even tried it lol.

i turned this off.. I played over 100 matches of pro clubs and a few season and season co op matches..

and with it on it was more of a distraction to me I think.. I never scored a goal using it yet in pro clubs.. and with it off. i score goals like crazy just like fifa 18 so i see no point in having it.

there is no area on the pitch that I say to myself.. oh if I had timed finishing I could of scored that time instead of missing.

I also haven't really noticed others ever using this in pro clubs either yet.. or maybe they do and i just don't realize it.

I might try to re visit this option again now that my pro is an 87... for me It was a distraction and kept me from scoring all my goals. once i turned it off I score goals from anywhere just like i always have in fifa

I turned it off as well, it seems to mess up scoring when set to manual, now it's easier to shoot with it turned off.

I have it on but don’t overuse it. Like a previous poster says when you get it right it’s a joy to watch and also when you get it wrong! We often see professionals scuffing shots, slicing them or dragging them wide and the animations are great. Like others I mainly use it on longer shots only. You don’t need to use it all the time but like I said, when you score a screamer you watch it over and over again!

I use this on a complete random basis. I have it on. When I think about it, plus I feel like I have the time and space to time it, I attempt it. My default tendency is to make a regular shot and cross my fingers that it goes in. And sometimes, I will double tap from FIFA 18 habits and perform an unwanted terribly gone wrong timed shot

Wait I'm confused. How do you use it on some shots but not others? It's either on or its off correct? I have the trainer set so that the bar appears over the players head and almost every time I shoot the bar appears. The speed at which it runs our varies though. Not sure I understand why.

The bar appears but if you don't tap again, you just execute a regular shot and not a timed one. I'm guessing it's like making a decision between leaving it to AI and going for the average outcome, or gambling it and trying to improve the outcome by perfecting the timing yourself.
