The wait is over. The patch everyone has been waiting for, is now available on PS4 and Xbox One.

Why was this update almost 5gb? Most other companies would have a similar fix with a significantly smaller sized file.

The update files on consoles are almost always huge in relation to what they change in the games. I think it's a matter of how the game files are structured/packed, meaning you are essentially redownloading a much larger portion of the game to include what has been patched. I see this with many games on PS4. Most patches are several GBs large even for small fixes. It's not an EA thing either.

Is it me or the bug with missing players names is back??!!
(I noticed it when there's a player change during the match: I only see the players number.)

I'm pretty sure it was fixed in the patch before this one.

Think this is a different bug as they are present everywhere else it seems.

I assume it would be too much to expect a switch to 5 substitutions for covid.

Seeing as the bench sizes are uniform across leagues in the game (Germany is now at 9, Italy 11 etc) in real life) I doubt that type of change will happen.
