The game play is sh*t. Yes career mode is somewhat intriguing. With the new sim system, I guess you can sim career mode. But as far as playing, it’s bullsh*t. The midfielders not tracking back is inexcusable. Apparently, it wasn’t done by mistake. The OS sliders has done a great job of improving the gameplay, but having two highly rated CDM not tracking back is just not doing it for me.

That's not been my experience at all in over 100 hours with the game. If I use tactics properly then the game plays great even without sliders. The CDM tracking thing isn't an issue for me because of that. Claiming gameplay as trash is just a joke. It might not be perfect by your standards but it's pretty darn good.

While I wouldn't say it is 'trash', the quality of the gameplay for a game that has been established for around 30 years is extremely disappointing. The fact that EA think the game is about 1 vs 1 battles as opposed to team defence shows they only care about e-sports rather than providing a loose simulation of the sport. You couldn't even score headers last year, for example. This year midfielders are completely idle - not even walking - while the opposition dribbles within a few metres of them. That can't be deliberate and if it is then PES will be the better game in the next gen.

I've been just playing NHL til they fix all the kits. I don't want to run through a CM without all the kits being in there, it just takes away from the immersion. Especially since we already have to suspend belief for "ROMA FC" and "Piemonte Calcio".

Completely agreed. The way teams play defense is abysmal in this game and doesn’t mimic real life at all. Defensive mids in real life usually don’t have to “track” as much as they should (which they don’t even) in fifa because they’re playing disciplined just in front of the CB’s. Yes, phillyphantic I know you can adjust custom tactics. I adjust mine and the CPUs before and during every game to try and come as close to SIM as possible and I’ve played plenty as well to easily be able to tell this game purposefully has CM’s basically go on standby as to leave passing lanes open and generally have more open play because real world footy tactical play wouldn’t sell for Esport.
