I can now tackle the crap out of the AI and not worry about a card. They said they improved card logic but in typical EA fashion they nerfed the crap out of it.

The reason for this is simple, EA makes updates based on what the Ultimate Team community wants. If the FUT players are upset because their best players are always getting cards, then they complain loudly. When the never ending stream of revenue complains, EA listens. All the same applies for influencers.

As hard as it is for me to do, I can't blame EA...they're a publicly traded company with a requirement to make money. Publicly traded development studios are bad for business (see CDPR, EA, Activision, etc.) whereas the privately owned studios continue to do well (Supergiant, etc.).
What really sucks though is we cant even say screw it and go to the other game. Fouls are even worse. I havent had a red card or a penalty against the cpu in 3 years.

Maybe it's from that perspective that I can live with Fifas fouls. I wish there were more for sure but at least I can get penalties fairly regularly and the occasional red card.

Here is what I've found helps increase the number of AI fouls on next gen:

        - The AI defensive tendencies cant be set to balanced or laid back. With those settings the AI tends to sit back an not attempt tackles. With the other three settings, you will find that the AI will attempt tackles more often.

        - Using L1 for agile dribbling. This will cause the AI to occasionally miss tackles if you time it right. I still find the AI is too good at touching the ball before a tackle but I've been able to get 4-6 fouls called a game using L1.

        - Dont play in a straight line and let the play build up. If all you are doing is using through passes and not playing in the midfield, you will miss opportunities for the AI to defend and foul you.

        - Finally, test the refs. Certain refs will call more fouls and give more cards. I've been working on a list of Premier League refs and I've found that Michael Oliver is one of the strictest at calling fouls.

I would love it if you shared that list. I like how Fifa does have different referee personalities.

I have a list and one thing I noticed..if you’re an MLS team there are literally zero strict refs. They’re all either “average” or “lenient”

Has anybody else seen this? I’ve backed out and into screens literally over 50 times now and have never had a strict ref.

Can you share your list? Especially the ones in the EPL. Thanks.

Here's the most up-to-date ref list I found. I'm fairly certain it's the one rmiok is using as I posted it in the community sliders thread as well. As a console players cannot access the database to verify the info and I don't keep stats or anything, but anecdotally it seems pretty accurate.

The complete list of fictitious and real FIFA 21 referees and their characteristics: nation, card strictness and foul strictness.

That’s the list I have as well.

Re: Will EA ever fix the lack of CPU fou!s ?

This is just a hint for people who are in volved in programming the game logic for career mode, without any realisitc hope that anyone of them will read it:

YES, it is true that total team pressing has become a very popular interpretation of football / soccer in recent years.

YES, it is true that it is also very successful and that it is extremly tough to play against a team with this tactic in real life.

                    HOWEVER:
It is not true that teams, which play like that also have a 93% pass rate at the end of games.
It is also not true that these teams win every tackle without ever committing a foul.

It is even less true that the smaller and quick paced striker of teams like that wins around ten balls per game with sliding tackles in or around the opponent's box.
And it is certainly not true that he scores directly with these tackles on two or three occasions per game, especially not from two meters outside the box.

Thank you, you are very welcome to incorporate this information in future versions of Fifa, or better yet in a future patch for Fifa21.

PS: For forum members, who do not know, what I mean:
Start a manager career in the Austrian League with any other team than Red Bull Salzburg or LASK, skip forward to your first game against Red Bull Salzburg and see what happens.

CPU does plenty of fouls. It's not a lack of fouls from CPU but a lack of FK for the player, because referees don't blow the whistle on CPU's fouls.

Exactly, and this is especially true for CPU teams whose natural tactic is high pressure and forechecking.

Although it has to be said that this is somewhat realistic, because these teams, who have a reputation for playing "physically", seem to get away with a lot of fouls in real life as well.
