Did FC25 Tactics and Roles actually reduce customization?

The more I play the more I get the feeling that I had more options to work with in the past. I could specifically direct where each player would player make runs and defensive directions, I could define pressing tactics, I could define numbers in the box and buildup speed (buildup still exists), even custom formations and positioning. Where did all that go?

The system seems to have been replaced with a less functional and less feature-rich system that simply doesn't live up to what was already there, much like the rest of the game, though I digress.

Putting the strict positioning and poor movement aside, is anyone actually finding the new tactic system easier to work with and get the style of play you're looking for? What am I missing?

My belief is that it has gone this way for FUT crowd and that's it. Probably too many people taking advantage of tactics and controls/ customization. This makes it much more difficult to do now. EAs take on it is fciq and a word salad. That's my opinion.

Yeah, you're quite right. It has gotten less flexible and also much more finnicky. While you could quickly change positions or tactics in previous iterations, now it has become a nightmare of manually checking and adapting every single player's instruction every time you want to make a slight alteration.
