CPU vs. CPU options?
Just wondering who the cpu vs. cpu guys are on this forum, and what settings you're using. I will be getting this game for Christmas, but any help before I get the game would be nice.James Naismith visited an Indiana basketball state finals game along with 15,000 screaming fans and later wrote, that while it was invented in Massachusetts, "basketball really had its origin in Indiana, which remains the center of the sport."Tags: None -
Re: CPU vs. CPU options?
Just saw this thread, and was hoping to get some help here as well. I'm not really satisfied with the stats I'm seeing for the current settings I've got, as I also am a CPU vs CPU person. Love simming some tournaments to see what the game says, and with the new Creation Center, I've got nearly a full-on Champions League & Europa League going on.
I've currently got it at 8 min halves, and adjusted the game speed to "fast" from normal, which hasn't really done much difference. I have a feeling the half length is too short, but would like some input as well.
To get some accurate scores and stats, what do people think? I'm running one right now, 85 min in and here's my stat line:
AC Milan vs. Bursaspor
0-0 score
3-4 shots
2-1 shots on target
50-50 possession
21-19 tackles
3-6 fouls
1-0 yellow cards
0-0 red cards
I'm thinking the halves might be too short to start... I may up it to 12 min and see... but anyone else have any input? I'm not ALWAYS getting 0-0, 1-0, 1-1 scores, but it's about 90% of the scores... and I started to realize how low the stats were.
Thoughts? Help from anyone? -
Re: CPU vs. CPU options?
Been doing some experimenting after searching the forum for some other threads about settings... here's the one that I found people were saying worked rather well...
Match Settings
Half length: 15 minutes
Difficulty: Legendary
Speed: Normal
Controller Settings
Auto switching: Air balls
Auto switching move assistance: None
Passing power assistance: Off
Pass assistance: Semi
Through pass assistance: Manual
Shot assistance: Manual
Cross assistance: Manual
Lob pass assistance: Manual
Save assistance: Semi
Analog sprint: On
Tried 6 different CPU vs CPU matches... then gonna try them again with different settings... I'll update this thread in case anyone else is interested in CPU vs CPU settings. I tried to get a variety of close matches and potential blowouts at lots of ranges of Champions League-level competition.
1. Anderlecht vs. Lyon
2. Valencia vs. Rubin Kazan
3. Barcelona vs. Roma
4. Spartak Moscow vs. Cluj (CCT)
5. Inter Milan vs. Real Madrid
6. Shakhtar Donetsk (CCT) vs. Bayern Munchen
Under the rules I posted above, here's what I got for these six matches...
Scores: 0-4, 3-3, 2-5, 1-1, 2-2, 3-2
Shots: 12-23, 13-6, 21-11, 17-6, 14-27, 10-15
On Target: 6-14, 6-3, 9-8, 10-3, 6-13, 4-8
Possession: 47-53, 53-47, 51-49, 49-51, 49-51, 53-47
Fouls: 12-6, 9-6, 7-5, 7-6, 12-3, 7-3
MUCH more scoring than my previous default settings... but... compared to some Champions League results from MD1 this year... they seemed somewhat high. LOTS of scoring, perhaps too much, and the shots are all over the board, but I think a little too high as well. Fouls a little low, but about right, perhaps.
I'm more concerned, however, with the high number of shots, on target shots, and goals. So I'm trying two more things, both in progress:
A. Same settings, but 10 minute halves
Working on this now, seeing a drastic drop in stats, far less, so maybe 15 min is the sweet spot, and something else should be adjusted...
B. Back to 15 minute halves, game speed down to Slow
C. Back to 15 minute halves, difficulty down to World ClassComment

Re: CPU vs. CPU options?
Do they have CPU bs CPU anywhere besides exhibition and lounge mode??? I can't find it elsewhere.James Naismith visited an Indiana basketball state finals game along with 15,000 screaming fans and later wrote, that while it was invented in Massachusetts, "basketball really had its origin in Indiana, which remains the center of the sport."Comment

Re: CPU vs. CPU options?
Sadly no... I don't know why they got rid of that option in tournament modes... it's a lot easier than trying to set up for 2nd leg games by scoring cheap goals then letting the CPU take care of it... I guess they don't want it to affect achievements, but they warn you that turning it to CPU vs CPU gets rid of achievements anyway.
One of those little things EA got rid of that just boggles the mind...Comment

Re: CPU vs. CPU options?
Okay... here are some of my findings... just to recap...
I used the settings from an earlier post that I got from another thread about settings...
I changed three variables to get different results:
Speed: Slow or Normal
Half Length: 10 or 15 minutes
Difficulty: World Class or Legendary
I picked 6 matches to play under each combo and compared the stats to some Champions League matches from this year's tourney... here's what I got...
The first picture gives you the average of the home team's stats and away team's stats versus the average of the real stats, the "actual results".
I needed something better, so the second pic shows the range and average of ALL teams, regardless of home/away. The range is just the max/min.
Here's my findings...
For accurate stats, CPU vs CPU, 10 minutes is too short. The stats are too low, I think. That's why I didn't go through all the combos with 10 min halves (10/slow/WC and 10/slow/Leg are missing of the 8 possible).
So that leaves us with 15 minutes... and a decision... slow or normal speed, legend or world class difficulty.
Now it's getting tougher to decide, but I think the Legendary difficulty shows more realistic stats, but just barely. Slow/Normal... I can't really tell the difference.
I'm going to run another sim... this time mimicking the "actual results" matches team-for-team. Going to see what the results are under the following combos:
ALL 15 minute halves
Legendary, Normal
Legendary, Slow
World Class, Normal
We'll see what kind of data I get here.Comment

Re: CPU vs. CPU options?
Nice work. I may try these if I get back into playing the game lol, I'm still mad at the fact that the only place there is cpu vs cpu is exhibition and lounge mode... go figure... So I'm playing NCAA Football 06 :P but I will get back into the soccer to try these...eventuallyJames Naismith visited an Indiana basketball state finals game along with 15,000 screaming fans and later wrote, that while it was invented in Massachusetts, "basketball really had its origin in Indiana, which remains the center of the sport."Comment

Re: CPU vs. CPU options?
Yeah... it's not ideal... I wish I could set up a tournament with all the teams and set it to run CPU vs CPU... but I'm also a spreadsheet junkie, and I've got a really expansive UEFA competition spreadsheet that I've been working on that tracks EVERYTHING, you just enter the scores (does random draws, calculates UEFA coefficients, I mean everything...)
The issue I come up with is leg 2 of home-home ties. If leg 1 is 3-1, can't just start a second game where the trailing team scores a goal and sits on the 1-0 lead... that won't help when aggregate is 3-2
Best solution I've found is using the lounge mode, and setting it up with the 1,2,however many goal lead for the team that led the first round. At least then the goal deficit is expressed in the game... away goals rule not so much, but it's not perfect.
The only issue here is with created teams... not allowed in lounge (which is dumb, if you ask me, I understand online but come on...). Here, I just control a team and let the opponent tap it in until the deficit is correct.
Again, not ideal but oh well.
Because the games I'm testing now are all 15 min halves, and 16 games for each set of data, it'll take longer, but I'll post what I find. So far, 6 games in, 15 min/normal/legendary, not a single team has kept a clean sheet. That might be problematic, even though the stats are pretty good otherwise.Comment

Re: CPU vs. CPU options?
Alright... so the lounge mode I currently have set up has the Barclays League (Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester U, etc etc). I'm only interested in them because I have a friend from England, and he likes Chelsea. I added in some random teams from Italy as well (Milan, Juventus, etc etc). I've got it set at 15 minutes, and I'll do a coin toss sort of thing to figure out if I should do normal or slow. Then I will run through matches between like, Arsenal and Chelsea or Tottenham and Arsenal or something... hehe...James Naismith visited an Indiana basketball state finals game along with 15,000 screaming fans and later wrote, that while it was invented in Massachusetts, "basketball really had its origin in Indiana, which remains the center of the sport."Comment

Re: CPU vs. CPU options?
A coin flip seems to be the most accurate thing to do...
I finished the 16 matches to get a set of data for both Legendary/Normal and Legendary/Slow.
Only problem... insanely high number of goals. Rarely a clean sheet. In both. In fact, the stats for Slow vs Normal look identical.
Gonna try WC and see if that slows down the ease of scoring without slowing down the stats... because everything, stat-wise, looks great. I just feel like too many goals are being scored.
I'll post the findings in here later when I have the spreadsheet in front of me.Comment

Re: CPU vs. CPU options?
Yeah, I think I did Legendary/Normal 15 minutes. I know I was still in the first half of Birmingham City (I think that was the team) and FC Barcelona and I quit it because I had to do something else. It was 2-1 though in favor of FC Barcelona, but it was still the first half.... Or does that seem realistic? And sorry, I'm new to making sliders, and I haven't played soccer in a long while lolJames Naismith visited an Indiana basketball state finals game along with 15,000 screaming fans and later wrote, that while it was invented in Massachusetts, "basketball really had its origin in Indiana, which remains the center of the sport."Comment

Re: CPU vs. CPU options?
Sorry for lack of response, but I wanted to finish off the data set... here's a recap:
Took MD1 of the Champions League stats (for some groups I took a different MD for varying results), and ran those matches in FIFA 11 under three different settings: 1) Normal speed/Legendary, 2) Slow/Legendary, 3) Normal/World Class. All 15 minute halves, here's the findings:
Here is the same thing I did on the previous page, with the three settings. I've noticed legendary gives closer stats to the actual results, but my problem was scoring. While the score stat, even, was closer to the actual results in terms of averages and ranges under legendary, I found that legendary had far too much scoring.
To help out, I added another data table... scores by game:
This is the score reported under each setting, with the fourth column being the actual Champions League result. Sure, there are some statistical outliers, but I think for the most part, World Class difficulty gives more appropriate scorelines across the board. One thing I noticed was Slow vs Normal was more of a toss-up than I thought. Didn't really make a difference. I liked Legendary, but wish the GK AI could be increased, so people aren't scoring seemingly at will. I rarely saw a clean sheet.
That said, I'd be curious to hear what conclusions people have made, or if there's anything I haven't looked into, but in simming my Champions League & Europa League (just about to start the group stages when I tested these), I'm going with World Class, 15 minute halves, Normal speed.Comment

What camera angle are you guys using because; I noticed the game plays diffrently depending on which angle. You play fast! You play strong! You go out there and dominate the man you're playing against, and you make his *ss quit! That's our trademark! That's our M.O. as a team! That's what people know us as! - Nick SabanComment
