Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Dundalk FC have appointed their new manager Frank Keano after a long a drawn out process following their admission into the English 4th tier. Keano has done a fantastic job in his job as Under 18’s manager of English club Burton Albion. In his first season in charge the board simply asked for a Mid Table finish as well as a run to the last 32 in the FA Cup. For other objectives they asked him to bring in some young talent from around the country. He has put in a plan that exceeds the boards expectation of winning league 2 in 4 years. He plans to win in half that time.
The board have asked Keano to keep the talent he brings in from the home country and Keano has stuck to their word for the most part although he had to make one exception as far as new signings go.
Keano has also brought a future world beater to the club in the form of his Son Tony Cook. The youngster got his mother’s maiden name which explains the difference in last names between the two family members. The striker is only 17 and already looks to be a future Superstar for a top flight club in a few years time. For now he plays for Dundalk but don’t be surprised in the young Irishman lights up the Premier League in a few years time.
Club transfers:
Conor Wilkinson arrives from Bolton Wanderers for a fee of 535,000 pounds. The Irish striker comes into the club to be the strike partner for Tony Cook.
Brandon Miele comes in from former Rivals Shamrock Rovers to play on the right wing for us in our 4-4-2 flat formation. We got him for 650,000 pounds.
Liam Kinsella comes in from Walsall to be our successor to our current right back in a few years time once he develops a little more. The 20 year old comes in for 250,000 pounds.
We brought in a few players on loan as well in the summer window to get a look into players we could buy in the future once the financial situation of the club becomes a lot more stable.
First on the loan list was Adam McDonnell who comes in from Ipswich Town on a two year loan as a way to give the youngster some first team football experience as well as giving our club a young central midfielder who could potentially start for Ipswich upon his return from loan.
Next on the loan list was Zachary Elbouzedi. The 18 year old midfielder comes in to give us some midfield depth without using up too much of our transfer budget.
The last of the incoming Loanees is Daniel Cleary. The Centre Half comes in from Birmingham City to strengthen our aging back line.
Now for the transfer that Keano had to make an exception to the only Irish Player rule. We were in dire need of a Goalkeeper as our starting Goalkeeper was nearing retirement being 36 years old. Keano brought this to the boards attention as well as the fact that there were no Irish Goalkeepers anywhere near the level that the club needed to be successful in the league in the amount of time that he plans to make the club successful. He proposed to the board that he be allowed to bring in a goalkeeper from the neighboring countries to settle the Goalkeeper spot for the time being until a goalkeeper of good quality comes through our pipeline.
The board accepted the facts that Keano brought up and allowed Keano to bring in a Goalkeeper from a nearby country. The player Keano brought in is Joe Wildsmith. The Goalkeeper comes in from Sheffield Wednesday as our starter in the net until we are able to find an irish talent to fill the void.
Wildsmith comes in on a 640,000 pound transfer fee.

The first competitive game for Dundalk under Keano couldn’t have gone any better to start off. The attack was rapid from the start and Chris Shields got us a goal 15 minutes into the match to open the scoring. Dane Massey gets a rare goal as a defender and makes it 2-0
Wycombe weren’t about to back down without a fight and even the match with two goals from their star striker Akinfenwa
Tony Cook finally gets on the score sheet in the 82nd minute to win us the game 3-2

August 2021
Leicester City 2 - 6 Grimsby Town
LEI - Gray 7', Kramaric 45'
GRI - Kamada 24', 45', Dewaest 35' (OG), Sacko 64' (PEN), 88', Sidibe 80'
MOTM: Sacko
What an unbelievable start. Our defense could certainly have been better, but the attack was firing like never before. The only downside was Morrison leaving with an injury in just his first game with the club. Gray scored first after he lost his marker and had a simple finish in front of goal. Amang was able to find Kamada with a through ball though and he finished across the keeper into the corner. Then Amang got through for a shot of his own, but it took a deflection off the defender on the way in and it was marked as an own goal. Mahrez played a ball through to Kramaric just before the break and our defender got caught on the wrong side of him and couldn't get around in time to stop his show as he tucked it away. But less than a minute later Wolf found Kamada on the right and he fired another one home to regain the lead for us. In the second half the referee awarded us a penalty and Sacko was on hand to place it in the bottom right corner and double our lead. Later in the game Sidibe rose up to head a corner towards goal and it came off the crossbar and bounced around before he was able to head it once again and this time it found the back of the net. Finally we finished off the scoring with Cole playing Sacko through on the right and he finished low across the goal into the corner.
Europa League Qualifying Round Leg 1
Grimsby Town 3 - 0 Piast Gliwice
GRI - Hourihane 14', Wolf 34', Amang 81'
MOTM: Hourihane
This was never even close. We completely dominated them in shots, shots on goal, and possession. They actually only managed to get off a single shot the entire 90 minutes. We opened the scoring with Hourihane playing a great 1-2 with Kamada and he got the ball back just inside the box and let it fly into the top left corner. Wolf then doubled the score after Hourihane played him the ball and he ran through a gap in the defense to slot it home. Then in the second half we had a great bit of build up play that resulted in Hourihane getting a shot off that was saved, but Amang was right there to tap in the rebound and extend our lead even further.
Grimsby Town 1 - 0 Arsenal FC
GRI - Morris 31'
MOTM: Morris
We went into this game with a rotated squad, but it was a group of players that I still feel confident in to get the job done. And that is exactly what they did. The defense was in top form as Arsenal continually tried to break through but to no avail. The only goal of the match came from Banton cutting the ball in from the left to get around his defender and then he played the ball to Morris running in on the near post and he faced up to the keeper to get the ball back on his right foot and slotted it across to the far post. We had a couple of good chances afterwards, but Arsenal saw more of the ball from that point out, but we kept them off of the score sheet to grab the win.
EFL Cup
Oxford United 0 - 2 Grimsby Town
GRI - Banton 83', Phillips 90'
MOTM: Quiroga
The first half was rather boring, but we finally got what we needed late in the game in order to advance to the next round. With less than 10 minutes left Quiroga was able to play Banton through down the left and he finished across the goal to finally open the scoring. In the final minute we were able to clear a corner away and raced down on the counter immediately with Osadebe and Phillips playing a nice 1-2 get get Phillips some space down the right and he fired his shot into the top left corner to put the game away.
Europa League Qualifying Round Leg 2
Piast Gliwice 0 (0) (7) 4 Grimsby Town
GRI - Budzik 48' (OG), Kessie 65', Wolf 72', 82'
MOTM: Wolf
And the second leg was pretty much just like the first as we secured another easy win. We started slow in the first half, but turned it one after the break. Our first goal came from Sacko getting down the right and he went to fire his shot towards goal but it took a deflection off of Budzik and went inside the near post. The next one came from Amang setting up Kessie from a few yards outside the box and he let it fly with a well placed shot inside the left post. Then Cole was able to get the ball to Wolf in the box and he took a touch out wide around the defender to get through on goal and finish low past the keeper. He added a second on the night by betting on the end of a cross from Sidibe to the back post and he just directed it into the goal.
Manchester City 2 - 0 Grimsby Town
MCI - Mangala 13', Iheanacho 63'
MOTM: Mangala
City completely controlled us throughout the entire match. We barely offered any fight, and didn't even force their keeper to make a save until the very last minute. They opened the scoring after recovering the ball from a failed set piece, and with everyone still up a cross went in and Mangala was there to head it into the back of the net. In the second half it was another header that doubled the lead, this time it was Iheanacho that got above our defense and nodded it into the top right corner.

ST, Josh Magennis, Northern Ireland, 27 years old, 65 OVR - £450,000 from Charlton Athletic
August 2017
Bristol Rovers 0 - 1 Blackpool FC
BLP - Gnanduillet 54'
MOTM: Foster
This was a tight one the whole way, and we had just that little extra bit that made the difference. After a goalless first half, we finally got on the board in the second half after Foster attacked down the right before cutting the ball back and finding Gnanduillet running in for the first time strike to the far post. That goal ended up being enough to take the 3 points.
EFL Cup
Blackpool FC 3 - 1 Plymouth Argyle
BLP - Taylor 28', Payne 80', Gnanduillet 90'
PLY - Taylor 45' (OG)
MOTM: Yeates
It took until late to find the difference, but I am very happy with this performance throughout the entire match. We opened the scoring off of a stunning free kick from Andy Taylor as he curled it around the wall and inside the left post. That lead was canceled out just before the break with Plymouth attacking us and firing a shot that took a deflection off of Taylor's leg as he went to block it and it was just enough to get it out of the reach of the keeper. Towards the end of the game we went on the counter and Yeates was able to find Payne running in on the back post and he slotted it across the goal for the lead. Then just before the final whistle Pugh was able to find Gnanduillet and he powered his shot past the keeper to put the match away for us.
Blackpool FC 0 - 2 Burton Albion
BUR - McCrory 10', Irvine 42'
MOTM: Naylor
Burton definitely outclassed us in this game, and we barely offered much of a fight as they poured it on. Their first goal was a result of poor decision making by Mellor in the defense and he tried to dribble out of the box with the ball rather than clearing it and it was tackled away from him and passed quickly to McCrory in front of goal for the tap in. Then just a few minutes before half Irvine got the ball on the edge of the box and got a little bit of luck as the defender tackled it away, but it somehow stayed at his feet and he was able to recover and launch it from distance into the top left corner.
Luton Town 1 - 1 Blackpool FC
LUT - Doyle 56'
BLP - Vassell 85'
MOTM: Yeates
If we had any ability to actually put a shot on target, we might have won this one. We controlled the game in every other aspect, but without putting shots on frame, it's hard to score. Luton took the lead in the second half after our defense over-ran his assignment allowing the ball to get played into the middle for Doyle to finish past the keeper with ease. Then finally in the closing minutes we were able to finally put one of our shots on target and it was Vassell finishing across the goal into the bottom left corner for the equalizer.
EFL Cup
Blackpool FC 0 - 2 Port Vale
PVL - de Freitas 8', Tavares 32'
MOTM: de Freitas
Unbelievable looking at the stats that we are the ones on the losing end. We beat them in every stat imaginable, and yet our score remained 0 while they put in 2. The first came early with de Freitas getting the ball a few yards out side of the box and he was able to strike it back across to the top left corner. Then Tavares added a well placed distance shot of his own and doubled the lead. If not for 2 wonder strikes, we might have had a chance at this one.
Blackpool FC 1 - 0 Oxford United
BLP - Evina 61'
MOTM: McAlister
This was actually about as even as it gets, but we had a great chance and took advantage of it and that made the difference. The first half was very uneventful, but in the second half McAlister was able to find Evina on the left side of the box. Evina's first touch was superb and he was able to turn around his defender to go through on goal and slot it across into the bottom right corner. We were able to hold out after that and see out the win, and even should have added a second on a great chance for Foster, but his shot went just wide of the post.
Checkatrade Trophy
Blackpool FC 2 - 1 AFC Wimbledon
BLP - Vassell 7', Daniel 55'
WIM - Reeves 11'
MOTM: Magennis
We got a little too comfortable after grabbing an early lead and they come right back at us to equalizer, but we regained our composure afterwards and grabbed a winner in the second half. Vassell opened the scoring after Magennis worked hard to win the ball in our attacking third and then sent it ahead to Vassell on the left and he finished it across the goal on the far post. Just minutes later we left some holes in our defense and Reeves was able to exploit those spaces and he equalized once he got the ball with room to line up his shot. In the second half McAlister worked his way around the outside of the defense and sent a low ball into the box where Daniel was waiting to tap it in from in front of goal for what ended up being the deciding goal.

Euro League - Group Match 4
FC Barcelona - AIK (2-0)
Cruz Torres 13' (Vidal)
Vidal 58' (Munir)
Pique 54'
Aleix Vidal solidified my decision to promote him to the main lineup by having another solid outing with the B-squad and lead us to yet another victory in the UEL. Gerard Piqué also made his debut with the B-squad, getting on the stat sheet with a yellow card. Demoting someone like Piqué was very difficult for me but it became obvious to me as time went on that he's declining a bit while Marc Bartra is in great form and looking better, so I had to make the switch.
League Match 10
UD Las Palmas - FC Barcelona (1-2)
Hernán 6'
Vidal 17' (Müller)
Mayke 42' (Vidal)
Vidal wasted no time making his presence felt with the main unit to help us overcome a surprising challenge from Las Palmas to get back on the winning track in La Liga. A big difference between my coaching style and what Barca fans are used to is I'm not obsessed with possession and Las Palmas tried to use heavy possession (58%) to offset the talent difference but in the end we were able to do enough to get the three points.

We took the first Derbi Barceloní of the season with a certain ease, dominating our local rivals from the get-go despite not scoring until late in the first half. We finished the game with over three times as many shots as Espanyol and over twice as many shots on target.
Euro League - Group Match 5
Standard Liège - FC Barcelona (1-2)
Yattara 65'
Cruz Torres 80' (Farías da Silva)
Sandro 90' (Rafinha)
Munir 48' (Dead leg quad, out for 6 days)
Our B-squad hung in tough on the road against a team fighting to qualify to the next round and they came through with a couple of late goals to flip the score in our favor, and in the process help us clinch the top spot in the group. David Cruz Torres, a La Masia graduate, has taken advantage of his playing time stemming from Sergio Roberto's injury and definitely gotten on my radar going forward.
League Match 12
Real Zaragoza - FC Barcelona (1-5)
Vidal 23' (Messi)
Vidal 37' (Messi)
Vidal 48' (Alba)
Messi 70' (Vidal)
Hupperts 74'
Messi 79' (pen)
Oh Vidal, you magnificent breakthrough player. The Spaniard had a hat-trick and an assist and Lionel Messi matched his contribution on the scoring sheet with a brace and two assists as we easily handled the team that gave our B-squad a stronger challenge in the Copa Del Rey last month.

Review: Five games and five wins means we did exactly what we needed to do to bounce back from a far from acceptable October. League play in November started out a bit tricky with a strong challenge from Las Palmas but luckily our superior talent got us through that and we then dominated our two other league games to solidify ourselves as a title contender nearly a third of the way into the season. Unfortunately for us Real Betis also won all three of their games this month to remain just ahead of us in the standings. We're better equipped to maintain form throughout the season so we'll see how long Betis can keep their up for. In the UEL our B-squad finally gave up a score but they accomplished the important goal which was to get us a couple more wins to help us clinch the top of the group. November was a month in which we definitely met expectations and I know every month won't go that way but the timing of our performances was definitely key.
Individually you already know I'm going to brag about Vidal. Outside of Sergi Roberto you could make an argument Vidal has been our best midfielder so far this season - that's how good he had been looking with the B-squad. And since getting promoted to the starting lineup Vidal this month was a difference-maker more often than not. Arda Turan, on the other hand, had been very inconsistent, reportedly unsettled, and at times lacked focus. He was the player that swapped roles with Vidal and he could also be on his way this winter depending on how the transfer window plays out.
In academy news we continue to make additions to the squad!

(listed by ranking)
CM - Fran Martinez (60 OVR, 83-94 POT): This 17-year old from Venezuela is turning out to be a GEM. Standing at 5'7", 150lbs, Fran is described as technically gifted. He displays natural movement (81 agility, 77 balance) to go with very good ball control (76) and curve (76) on the ball.
CAM - Javier Marquez (57 OVR, 80-94)*: 16-year ol from Spain described as a playmaker. Marquez is a smaller prospect (currently at 4'11",130lbs) but his potential is big and that's what made us sign him.
ST - Flavio Mansilla (56 OVR, 77-94): 16-year old from Venezuela described as technically gifted. Mansilla continues to project as an exciting prospect displaying excellent ball control (74) for his age. I'm excited for him as a player for the club and the country.
ST - Darío Verdejo (49 OVR, 75-83): 17-year old from Spain standing at 5'11" and 176lbs. Verdejo is described as physically strong and indeed his strength (77) is his top attribute although he isn't just a log as he also has good speed (74), aggression (74), and jumping (73). He's very raw technically though so he'll need to work hard in that aspect of his game to develop as a scorer.
CAM - Daniel Lugano (56 OVR, 72-80): Also a 17-year old Venezuelan described as technically gifted who is also very agile (79). Since I'm able to make better evaluations of Venezuelan prospects I know Lugano, who is 5'11" and 154lbs, can also play as either a CF or CM so we're excited about his versatility on the pitch.
CB - Javier Gonzalez (56 OVR, 75-89): 18-year old from Spain who is physically strong. At 6'1" and 174lbs the lefty Gonzalez stands out for his aggression (79) and strength (76) although much like Verdejo he also has good pace (77 spd/72 acc) and jumping (71). Gonzalez isn't too raw but does need to develop quickly since he'll surely want to be promoted sooner than later.
RB - Manuel Navarro (41 OVR, 74-90): 15-year old from Spain described by scouts as an attacker. Navarro actually possesses decent pace (72 acc/69 spd) at a very young age and is very agile (70) as well. However, he's so raw as a defender he can't even be called a defender at this time. He's a project but he's young, so he could pay off big.
CB - Sergio Torres (49 OVR, 67-83): 15-year old from Spain described as physically strong. Much like Navarro, Torres oozes some impressive traits for his young age such as his jumping (73), aggression (72), strength (65), and pace (71 acc/68 spd) but he's raw as a defender and will need to work hard on that aspect of his game.

International Friendlies
Denmark - Venezuela (0-2)
Martínez 57' (Otero)
Peñaranda 68' (Juanpi)
Thought our guys were outstanding in Copenhagen on this night, taking the spotlight away from the Danish side to hold them to just one shot on target while we created a good number of scoring chances and converted on a couple to earn a solid win on the road in Europe.
Venezuela - China PR (3-2)
Peñaranda 7' (Ramírez)
Zhang Xizhe 12'
Cai 30'
Signorelli 75' (Soriano)
Cádiz 85' (Martínez)
Carabalí 69'
Coincidentally it was China who crushed any dreams we had of advancing past the group stage in the last World Cup. I trotted out a B-squad for this match and it was scary there for a second but our guys came through with some clutch goals to get us another win. Jhonder Cádiz probably won't make the WC roster unless a lot of the strikers ahead of him suffer injuries so it was nice to see him score a big goal for us even if it was in a friendly.

12/5: vs Sporting Gijón
12/9: at PAOK (Euro League)
12/11: at Athletic Bilbao
12/14: vs Granada CF
12/19: at Villareal CF
Before we get to the winter transfer window we'll have to take care of some things first, starting with the second leg of our matchup against Zaragoza in the Copa Del Rey. The B-squad managed a 2-2 result on the road in the first leg but our main lineup just manhandled Zaragoza at the end of November so you could guess which lineup I'm going to trot out for that one. Four league games will also give us an opportunity to finally unseat Betis if we're able to take care of business, with the visit to San Mamés projecting as the toughest match of those four. The B-squad will get the call to wrap up the group stage of the UEL in a game that will be just a formality.

Lionel Messi was named Player of the Month for November
Copa Del Rey - Round of 32, 2nd Leg
FC Barcelona - Real Zaragoza (3-1, 5-3 agg)
Roberto 4' (Messi)
Seferović 48'
Busquets 70' (Vidal)
Müller 78' (Rafinha)
Zaragoza put up a good fight against our main squad but in the end our superior talent made the difference to take care of this matchup and book our ticket into the Round of 16. It was really nice to get Sergi Roberto back from injury and he made his presence felt early with a goal four minutes in. I wish I had been able to have Andrés Iniesta for at least one season but Roberto does a really good job of making up for Iniesta's absence.
League Match 13
FC Barcelona - Sporting Gijón (3-0)
Müller 14' (Messi)
Messi 36' (pen)
Müller 81' (Messi)
This should had been an even bigger blowout win for us but Gijón's goalkeeper, Gabriel Castellón, had several saves in the highlight reel to keep five of our eight shots on target from increasing our lead.
Euro League - Group Match 6
PAOK - FC Barcelona (2-1)
Athanasiadis 32'
Sandro 51' (pen)
Mak 83'
PAOK's goalkeeper, Robin Olsen, doubled up on his performance against us in October to gobble up 18 saves and a perfect match rating and he was undoubtedly the key contributor for the Greek club's win against our B-squad. PAOK was without a doubt the second best team in our group and Olsen was a big reason for that.
League Match 14
Athletic Bilbao - FC Barcelona (3-2)
Lamela 11'
Rodrigo 38' (pen)
Roberto 55'
Vidal 78'
Salah 88'
Roberto 19'
Alonso 23'
Mohamed Salah's late score offset a great effort from us to come back from an 0-2 deficit as Athletic handed us our second loss of the season in La Liga. Erik Lamela's goal in the 11th minute made a ton of difference as Athletic was able to edge us in possession (54%) and created a similar number of scoring opportunities as our 13 shots (10 on target).
League Match 15
FC Barcelona - Granada CF (4-2)
Vidal 7' (Roberto)
Messi 15' (Busquets)
Müller 19'
Vidal 28' (Müller)
Varas Herrera 64'
Córdoba 90'
Vidal 76'
Excellent bounce-back performance from our guys who secured the win in the first third of the game. Messi and Müller are starting to make the Pichichi race one that involves just the two of them.
League Match 16
Villareal CF - FC Barcelona (1-3)
Vidal 45+2' (Messi)
Vidal 65' (Müller)
Sol 75'
Messi 89' (Busquets)
Alonso 28' (Bruised shoulder, out for 5 days)
And we wrapped up 2016 by doubling down on the win column with this performance at Villareal, who made us sweat in the first half but couldn't break our defense. Vidal's goal in stoppage time of the first half may have broken Villareal's morale and he just continues to be an incredible asset to our lineup.

Review: Finally top of the table! Although we didn't have a perfect showing in league play, Real Betis finally came down to earth and went winless in December. Meanwhile we were able to make up for the loss at San Mamés with three wins to jump to the top of the table and hold of Valencia who had an undefeated run in December with two wins and two draws. We were also able to wrap up a defeat of Real Zaragoza in the Copa Del Rey by playing our main lineup in the second leg after our B-squad was only able to manage a draw in the first leg. It only gets harder now in the Round of 16 where we'll match up against Real Sociedad who are having a great season. The loss to PAOK in the UEL was meaningless as we already had locked up the top spot in the group and we now know our opponent in the Round of 32 will be 1899 Hoffenheim. In the Champions League, FC Twente finished behind Man City and Benfica in their group so my former club will be joining us in the UEL where they'll match up against Giron. Bordeaux. Wouldn't it be something if we eventually face off against Twente?
Individually I'll once again give props to Aleix Vidal and why not? After all he scored five goals and dished out an assist this month and he now joins Messi and Müller among the league's best in scoring and assists. On paper that LCM position would be the one to look to upgrade in the upcoming transfer window but with how he's performing there is no way I can justify splashing big money to acquire someone to replace him in the lineup.
Meanwhile our academy continues to grow!

CDM - Diego Menendez (41 OVR, 76-94)*: 17-year old from Argentina described as technically gifted. Menendez is very raw but shows high potential so we were willing to take a bit of a gamble with him. His agility (80) is impressive for someone who is so raw overall.
LM - Pablo Acosta (55 OVR, 72-94)*: 16-year old from Argentina and yet another technically gifted prospect for the club. Acosta's agility (80) is easily his best attribute and he also possess the kind of pace (71acc/70spd) at his age that makes us comfortable about how he projects at his position.
CF - Eligio Domínguez (52 OVR, 71-91)*: 15-year old from Venezuela described as technically gifted. Domínguez doesn't have a particular attribute that jumps off the page but his promise is undeniable.

We'll start 2017 with a home game vs a club trying to stay out of the relegation zone before we get right back into the Spanish Cup. It'll be interesting facing both Bilbao squads later in the month now that Athletic's reserve squad was able to gain promotion to La Liga. Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Season 6
The Mariners
September 2021
Grimsby Town 1 - 1 Manchester United
GRI - Dembele 2'
MUN - Fosu-Mensah 58'
MOTM: Janssen
An unbelievable debut for our new record signing. Dembele took all of 2 minutes to open his account at the club. Wolf played him through on the right and he took a touch to line up his shot and then fired it low back across the goal into the bottom left corner. Unfortunately United was able to find an equalizer in the second half with Janssen using a cheeky back heel to set up Fosu-Mensah for a strike from the edge of the box into the top left corner.
Europa League Group Stage
FC Midtjylland 1 - 2 Grimsby Town
MID - Onuachu 83' (PEN)
GRI - Kelly 25', Hourihane 48' (PEN)
MOTM: Morris
We are off to a good start in our group with a win, and it should have been a clean sheet but our keeper made a rash dive at the ball and came up with the attacker's leg instead. We opened the scoring though with Morris whipping in a free kick from the right side of the box and Kelly was there to meet it on the near post with a strong header past the keeper. Just after half Konate was able to draw a penalty and Hourihane put it away even though the keeper guessed right, but just couldn't make the save. Then in the closing minutes Johnstone came out to try to dive on the ball but the attacker pushed it past him and was taken out resulting in a penalty. Onuachu sent him the wrong way as he converted the penalty easily.
Stoke City 1 - 3 Grimsby Town
STK - Badji 68'
GRI - Kamada 22', 65', Sacko 82'
MOTM: Wolf
Stoke wasn't far behind us when you look at the stats on paper, we were just a lot more clinical when it came to the our finishing touch. We got the first goal of the match when Sacko used a back heel to set up Kamada running in on the right and he was able to shoot it across inside the far post. Kamada then added a second with Wolf playing him down the left, but his first shot was saved and he followed it up with a second effort that found it's way into the corner. They pulled one back after that when Badji took a shot from distance and it hit our defender square in the back and came right back to him and his second effort was driven low into the bottom corner. We capped it off in the end with Wolf finding Sacko on a back post run and he finessed it past the keeper to double our lead once again.
EFL Cup
Bolton Wanderers 1 - 4 Grimsby Town
BOL - Clayton 57'
GRI - Harris 29', Phillips 97', 103', Banton 109'
MOTM: Banton
It was tougher than we expected, but in extra time we finally got going the way I was hoping we would. We started it off with Osadebe playing Harris through on the right and he was able to fire it across the goal to the far post. Bolton was able to equalize in the second half though with Clayton heading home a cross on the near post that ended up forcing extra time. In extra time Osadebe added another assist, this time finding Phillips on the right and he slotted it home to give us the lead. Phillips grabbed another just minutes later by getting on the end of a perfect cross from Banton and he was able to direct it around the keeper. Banton then got one of his own with Harris playing him through on the left and he finished easily to cap off our extra time scoring burst.
Grimsby Town 4 - 2 Swansea City
GRI - Kamada 11', Dembele 29' (PEN), 40' (PEN), 88'
SWA - Wickham 31', Jones 90'
MOTM: Dembele
Dembele notched his first hat trick of his Grimsby career in an impressive display. We started it early with Sacko playing Kamada down the right and he continued his fine form by placing it across the goal into the corner. Dembele then started off his night after the referee called a penalty in our favor and he powered it into the top right corner. Swansea pulled one back after that when Thomas made a save but it fell right back to them and Wickham ended up sending it into the open net. Demeble then found the net again with another penalty going the same direction, but low this time. He finished it off with Sacko playing him the ball in a 3 on 1 situation and the defense stood no chance as he slotted it past the keeper for his third and final of the night. Swansea added a consolation goal in the final minute, once again with Thomas making the initial save and then Jones finished off the rebound.
Europa League Group Stage
Grimsby Town 2 - 5 Rangers FC
GRI - Crooks 16' (OG), Kelly 48'
RAN - Samuel 11', McKay 20', Holt 33', Windass 59', 85'
MOTM: Rossiter
This was the most embarrassing performance I've seen since taking over as manager. We were absolutely dreadful defensively and they took advantage of us over and over again. Samuel opened the scoring after a ball was deflected straight up and our keeper for some reason decided to try to rush out and punch it away but he arrived too late and Samuel headed it into our now open goal. We managed to grab an equalizer off of a corner with Morris whipping it into the box and it went off of Crooks' head and into his own net. But that didn't last long and McKay got lucky having the ball bounce his way after a tackle and he fired it inside the near post to take the lead once again. Then Holt worked his way in front of goal with some nice passing and he got the ball back and finished it off quickly to the far post. Just after half we pulled one back after Banton cut the ball inside and picked out Kelly for the quick tap in from in front of goal. Rangers put any hope we had to rest right away though with Windass hitting a low shot from the edge of the box inside the near post before adding a second with a great run into the box and firing it into the top right corner.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Season 2
Club in Crisis
September 2017
Exeter City 0 - 1 Blackpool FC
BLP - Yeates 40'
MOTM: Vassell
We had a slight edge when it came to the stats, but it wasn't an overpowering performance from us. Still, I am happy with the result, especially the clean sheet. We had a great chance early on with Foster getting through on the right, but his shot smashed off the post denying him the goal. We did get on the board before the half was up though and it was a great bit of play by Vassell to back heel the ball into the path of Yeates and he got behind the defense before slotting it across to the right side of the goal. We held on to that goal for the win after the second half brought very little action.
Blackpool FC 0 - 0 Swindon Town
MOTM: Bennett
We were atrocious in front of goal, and managed just a single shot in the entire 90 minutes. Every time we started to look dangerous, our cross was cleared out, or the ball was tackled away. Luckily our defense was up for the challenge and we managed to keep them from scoring as well. It certainly wasn't any kind of show for the fans, and we will have to get our attack firing going forward.
Barnsley FC 1 - 0 Blackpool FC
BAR - Bradshaw 87'
MOTM: Vassell
This was our game to win, and we just handed it to them on a silver platter. We had a penalty awarded to us in the closing minutes and Yeates placed his shot left and the keeper got down to push it away. That penalty miss would end up being more costly than we would have realized. Just a few minutes later we made some poor decisions and the keeper played the ball to our defender with an attacker right on him and Bradshaw tackled the ball away and placed his shot past our keeper for the deciding goal.
Blackpool FC 1 - 0 S****horpe United
BLP - Magennis 86'
MOTM: Mellor
We got a goal, but our offensive struggles continue to hurt us. We missed a few good chances early on, which is an improvement over having essentially no chances in the previous couple games. Finally with just a few minutes left, Yeates was able to open up the defense and play Magennis through for the quick finish on the near post to decide the game.
Bradford City 1 - 0 Blackpool FC
BRA - Clarke 45'
MOTM: Clarke
And just like that we are pack to being inept in our attack. We were also lucky that Bradford only scored just the one goal considering they put all 9 of their shots they took on target. The one they did get came with Clarke getting away from his defender and then letting it fly from a couple of yards outside of the box into the top left corner for a stunning goal. Our best chance at equalizing came in the second half with Vassell heading a cross off of the left post and all we can do is shake our heads.
Blackpool FC 0 - 2 MK Dons
MKD - Brittain 20', 31'
MOTM: Brittain
That was an awful ending to an awful month. We scored 2 goals in 6 matches, nothing else really needs to be said about that. MK Dons did all of their damage in the first half, with Brittain accounting for both goals. His first was the ball getting headed down off of a corner at the edge of the box and he side footed his shot into the bottom right corner. He added the second by running right past his marker to get the ball inside the box and he tucked it away to double the lead.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
September update:
Portsmouth vs Dundalk
25’ Gareth Evans
51’ Conor Wilkinson
59’ Tony Cook
73’ Pablo Ignacio Calandria
85’ Conor Wilkinson
88’ Gareth Evans
90’+4 Tony Cook
What a crazy match this was……. Defenses for both teams were god awful in this match. But there were plenty of goals for crying out loud.
Notts County vs Dundalk
10’ Conor Wilkinson
55’ Jonathan Forte
60’ Patrick McEleney
Good game overall, although not very many chances for either side, we were just more clinical with ours.
Dundalk vs Colchester
18’ Macauley Bonne
35’ Ronan Finn
71’ Tony Cook
Once again we have a match where we didn’t get many chances on goal. But out of the 4 we did get, we scored on two of them. Our Goalkeeper made 11 saves in this match after giving up an early goal.
Luton Town vs Dundalk
10’ Tony Cook
21’ Conor Wilkinson
35’ Glen Rea
64’ Josh McQuoid
Not much to say about this one other than the fact that we blew a 2-0 lead to have them take a point from this.
Dundalk vs Yeovil Town
8’ Conor Wilkinson
70’ Daryl Horgan
Pretty straightforward match here against the team at the bottom of the table.Currently Playing:

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
October update:
Barnet vs Dundalk
4’ Daryl Horgan
32’ Tony Cook(miss pen)
58’ Adam McDonnell
Good performance from the backups in this game as they handily dispatched of a team who are 6th at this point. Signs of promise from Kinsella this game as he grabs 2 assists in this match
Dundalk vs Doncaster Rovers
17’ Daryl Horgan
36’ John Marquis
45’ Tony Cook
59’ Daryl Horgan
This match was my favorite this month, for the first time this season we had more chances than our opponents. Horgan gets a brace and Starlet Cook adds another goal to his season tally.
Carlisle United vs Dundalk
13’ Jabo Ibhere
33’ Brandon Miele
59’ Mike Jones
First loss in league play this season comes on a day where we simply couldn’t get anything going for the most part. Miele was our bright spot in this game as he got us level just after half an hour. Our attack just wasn’t good enough today and it cost us.
Leyton Orient vs Dundalk
0-0 draw
Once again a game where our attack couldn’t get going. Both defenses kept each other at bay and there were only 5 chances between both teams.
Blackpool vs Dundalk
61’ Michael Cain
81 Conor Wilkinson
This dip in form near the end of October has me a bit on edge. Hopefully the lads can turn this around soon. Wilkinson gets us a point out of this game which we really should’ve lost.
Plymouth Argyle vs Dundalk
41’ Conor Wilkinson
1-0 Win
Once again we have a game where we were pretty clinical with the chances we had. We only had 2 chances the entire 90 minutes, but we scored one right before halftime that won us the match.Currently Playing:

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
November Update:
Portsmouth vs Dundalk FA Cup 1st rd
19’ Conor Wilkinson
27’ Michael Doyle
69’ Tony Cook(Pen)
This cup tie nearly went to a replay but we got a penalty and converted it which won us the match.
Cheltenham Town vs Dundalk
13’ Brandon Miele
Against a weak team like this I expected us to score a few goals. Looked promising early on when Miele got us a goal but after that it was wasted chance after wasted chance for the remaining 77 minutes. Cheltenham got 2 chances late on but neither were in a good area and were easily stopped.
Dundalk vs Exeter City
11’ Conor Wilkinson
45’ Daniel Cleary Red Card
50’ Tony Cook
67’ Ollie Watkins
85’ Jake Taylor
89’ Tony Cook
Top 2 in the division clashed in this one, and what a game this was. We went down to 10 men right before halftime. We got ourselves a goal early in the second half but then Exeter take advantage of the extra man and get us even with 5 minutes to play. I thought this game was gonna end as a draw but out of either sheer luck or bad defending by Exeter, Tony Cook got left open right down the middle and left an easy pass for Horgan to get us the winning goal.
Dundalk Vs Crawley Town
14’ Enzio Boldewijn
21’ Ronan Finn
66’ Conor Wilkinson
This game started out bad but we got back on track and ended up winning this one.
Dundalk vs Morecambe
83’ Michael Rose
1-0 Loss
Not much I could do about this one. After the Crawley game 2 days prior, I had to rest the squad and we ended up losing this one late on.
Hartlepool vs Dundalk
23’ Tony Cook
83’ Zachary Elbouzedi
Great game from the lads in this one, sure we only scored 2 goals on the day but we had loads of chances and our defense was on point despite the injuries to our back line.Currently Playing:
