At this point I'm just waiting for 18 as I haven't really got into it this year.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Yeah I want FIFA 18 really hoping dynamic weather is in.

But I went back and created to more careers that I think I will try to replicate in 18. First doing a West Ham with a couple of updated transfers and boy has West Ham become a force.

Second did a fantasy league with a couple of twist. First created Premier and Championship leagues with top European teams that have their real stadium. Top teams in premier other championship. The only exception was Celtic brought them in for rivalrys and uniqueness. Doing this method still left some power teams for champions cup though not many. Now for the other twist, I took over Portsmouth and put them in championship to see how we would fare. I tell you this has a been a treat. Using the house rules this should be a challenge.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

I got so frustrated I just quit playing FIFA around the beginning of July. Still checked the boards, though.

Now with the new season, I'm fired up again and will be dropping a new career tomorrow. Don't know if I'm getting 18 immediately. I'm kind of pissed they still won't add the Ukrainian league.

Anyway, good to hear from everyone and looking forward to us all being more active on the forums.

        Cheers.

I'm still playing the globetrotter and Newport CMs on FIFA16 lol, I'm finished with March at Barca and just starting March at Newport on whatever season I'm on since my last updates. Not sure about 18 yet.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

After taking a break from FIFA to play PES and then to play my "Total Control" league, I decided to get back into my FIFA career with my fictional manager Max Wolters. After being fired from QPR I decided to step outside the Premier League/Championship for once and went to the Bundesliga. I am having a blast with it even though I have only played the preseason tournament and a few league matches. I'm not sure why but the gameplay feels different and the matches are more exciting.

Even though I usually do not post in this thread, I keep my posts in the Dynasty section, I do come here often to read updates so I am excited for the next game to come out and to follow the careers again. If this thread picks back up again, maybe I will start posting my own updates here to get involved.

Sorry for taking a month to post this. I've just been busy with school and, frankly, I haven't felt like updating with the state of the thread being what it is, i.e. pretty much dead. It breaks my heart to see this wonderful thread and wonderful group of FIFA enthusiasts fall apart. Then again, everything nice has to come to an end at some point.

I will probably continue posting, although the quality won't be great. It will be something similar to this post where I just wanted to get everything out of the way.

Thank you for reading this post! I hope you have enjoyed it! Any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!

Hey, guys. A friend of mine wants to start a FIFA Career Mode blog, so I'm helping him out with some content. One of the articles I wrote was a mini-guide on enjoying CM without taking it too seriously. I asked him if I could share it here, and he had no problems. So enjoy!

                    ***

How to enjoy Career Mode without losing your sanity

When you start a new save in FIFA Career Mode, the team you pick is the toughest decision you'll have to make. But for some players, this can get so intense that the career never really gets going. So if you find yourself giving 'realism' a bit too much value, make your experience a little more enjoyable with these easy tips.

                    Things to ignore

                    1. City stats and demographics. The population of the city your club is in has no impact on the game; play well enough at a high level, and your stadium will be full on pretty much every matchday. The city's political and demographic background also don't mater. For example, just because a club is in Catalunya doesn't mean you can't sign a Castilian wonderkid.

                    2. Quality of life. In real life, assuming two clubs offer a player identical terms and prospects, he would almost definitely pick the one in the big city. After all, you've got to have places to blow the hard-earned goal bonuses you'll be pulling in. Here, let's just assume that the virtual money you pay your players is no barrier to a good time, wherever they may live.

                    3. Ability to attract players. Bro, even Port Vale can sign Messi if they get to the Premier League and accumulate enough money to satisfy Barcelona's greedy board of directors. In a game where you might one day spot Kylian Mbappe and Gianluigi Donnarumma signing for Leeds, restricting yourself in the market is pretty silly.

                    Things to care about

                    1. Your stadium. It's where you'll play half your games, so make sure it's the kind of ground you'd like to see for at least a few years. If you pick a real-world venue, you're sorted. But if you go with a generic stadium, don't feel shy about giving your second-division club a 50,000-seat ground that they can grow into.

                    2. Your kits. You'll be staring at them for most of the time. They better be pretty.

                    3. Club history, or the lack thereof. These are the characteristics that can shape your Career Mode narrative, if you choose to have one. You could be the first manager to deliver a Serie A title to Benevento, or you could resurrect Aston Villa to their European title-winning glory days. The choice is yours, and that's what makes all this worth it.

                    4. Playing squad. It's the very first set of guys you inherit who determine your sales and purchases. You'll get attached to a few and won't be able to get rid of a few others, but the first roster you work with is likely to shape the way you operate in the transfer market. Development of players and youth prospects also stems from this.

                    5. Budget relative to scope. If you sign with Chelsea, you obviously need just 2-3 signings to have a world-class squad. But if you take the job at Barnsley, you'll probably need 2-3 seasons to bring in all the players you want. Even then, it's a growing cycle. And all this, with vastly differing budgets. Not every club needs the same work.

This. Nowadays everyone wants or tries to do a realistic career mode. Doesn't matter which game. It HAS to be realistic. And i don't like that most of the time. Sure, you can do it if you want, but regarding Youtubers for example, it feels so forced that they do it. It's a video game man. That's why we play. To dissolve our boundaries and make things happen that can possibly never happen in real life.

I'll probably start a career with 18 after never really getting into 17 but it won't be very regular as I am at college now and I'd only get to play on weekends. Hopefully we can kickstart this place again!

Despite the popular vote going to Leeds, I have picked Nottingham Forest for my first FIFA 18 Career Mode save. Long-time posters and lurkers will remember my FIFA 14 save with Forest, back from the first few dozen pages of this thread nearly 4 years ago. Back then the transfer and wage system meant I was able to use a Financial Takeover to bring in the likes of Oscar, Lacina Traore, Jonathan Biabiany, and many more. This time I'm going to do things a little less intensely!

Good to see that people have posted a bit during the last couple of days!

I'm also quite busy with school at the moment, although I won't have to complete any essays for a couple of weeks after Monday. Because of this I'm planning to finish the current season of my FIFA 17 Hertha career (unfortunately that means no treble), and I'll most likely pick the new game up in a week-and-a-half or so.

As I pointed out in my last update, I am not sure if I will be able to post detailed updates regularly, although I will pop up with some posts every now and then. Also, I'm continuing with a new Hertha career in FIFA 18.

I will be leaning on you guys here to see how you all like FIFA 18. Some things were a let down to me, but the demo felt nice.

In the meantime I found some good sliders on world class difficulty with two CMs. I am in the first season with Dortmund and Portsmouth. With Dortmund I am holding my own well into December. With Portsmouth it has been a real struggle, but we are mid table.

I still come here to read just haven’t posted much. Got to help you all keep the thread alive.
