Poor transfer budget, poor wages, tough qualifier for Europe... that's quite a bad spell of luck, but look at it as experience. Also, if PSG are without their best players and in the Europa League, who knows? You might even beat them if you keep your head down and concentrate.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Brighton & Hove Albion
Taking Flight
Preseason 2015
Toulouse 0-0 Brighton
Man of the match: Ali Ahamada (Toulouse)
An excellent game for both keepers, as Forster is tested 11 times and Ahamada comes out top with 13 saves. Plenty of shots from distance and some wonderful skills and tricks on display.
Brighton 3-0 Sassuolo
Bendtner 4', Buckley 21' 29'
Man of the match: Lewis Dunk
Brighton come out of the blocks with an early counterattack as the Italians give the ball away cheaply to Bridcutt, who finds new signing Depay in the centre of midfield. The Dutchman lays off to Bendtner, who rounds a defender and nets. Some time later, Buckley cuts in from the right wing and hits a lovely left-footed finish beyond the keeper, before repeating the move less than 10 minutes later.
Indiblue's analysis: Not a bad preseason. We're short a game this year, but that suits us just fine as we did plenty of work here in the south of France. The weather suited the lads just fine, and they seem sharp and ready to go for another brilliant season.
********************
August 2015
Brighton 0-0 Newcastle
Man of the match: Mathieu Debuchy (Newcastle)
Brighton's inability to score against Newcastle continues, this time costing them two points as the Tynesiders are able to hold their back line together against an onslaught of attacks.
QPR 1-1 Brighton
Remy 82'
Buckley 67'
Man of the match: Liam Bridcutt
What promises to be a torrid affair once again ends up looking like three points for Brighton when Buckley swaps wings with Depay, cuts in on his favoured right foot, and curls a gorgeous shot into the top corner beyond a helpless John Ruddy. A bit of poor decision making costs them though, as Loic Remy equalises with minutes to go before both sides fail to find a winner.
Brighton 2-0 Stoke
Kongolo 40', Sanogo 43'
Man of the match: Terence Kongolo
King Kong scores his first of the season with a looping header that comes off an Aranguiz corner late in the first half. Minutes later, Depay drives in from the right of midfield and unleashes a fierce shot that Jack Butland parries to his left. Unfortunately for him, Sanogo is on hand to volley in the rebound for a second, and Brighton hold on to secure their first league win.
August 2015
Cup: N/A
League: 5/9 points
Indiblue's analysis: Not the greatest start to what we want to achieve, but not the worst either. We really should have seen a win against QPR, though the draw against Newcastle was a fair result. I always thought Nicky Bendtner would need some time to find his shooting boots, so I'm not too worried.
What I'm glad to see is that our new signings have slotted right in. Memphis has been excellent throughout the three games plus preseason, while Liam did a great job when called upon in the second half against Stoke. But Fraser has been a revelation, stopping shots we never imagined being able to save a season or two ago. I'm also glad to see Yaya enjoying his time on the pitch and opening his account so early in the season.

Deadline day: Seagulls loan one, sell three, land huge deal
Brighton & Hove Albion have signed one player on loan, sold two surplus members of the squad plus one wantaway, and secured one of the most coveted signatures in world football on deadline day of the summer 2015 European transfer window.
The first signing is Manchester City's young Ivorian midfielder Abdul Razak on a one-year loan agreement, during which time the Seagulls will pay his £10,000 per week wages in full. The player is capable of playing centrally or on the wings, and is expected to provide cover for first team players across attack midfield.
Razak will be looking to use this loan spell to earn more games with City
Brighton have also agreed a collective £900,000 deal with Championship outfit Charlton Athletic for the transfer of academy graduate Solomon March and former Dorchester winger Brennan Dickenson. Both Englishmen failed to break into Indiblue's first team and have now been given the chance to resurrect their careers.
Dickenson (top L) and March will be hoping for better days at Charlton
Also leaving the club is winger Kazenga LuaLua, who handed the club a written transfer request mere hours before deadline day, leaving Indiblue concerned about securing a replacement. In the end, the club decided against keeping a player who did not want to be around, and the Congolese secured a dream transfer to French outfit Olympique Marseille for a princely £6.8 million.
LuaLua forced a move to France with days to go
But perhaps the most exciting piece of transfer news for Brighton this window is their marquee signing of Bosnia and Herzegovina international Izet Hajrovic, who is capable of operating on the wings and in the hole. The dead ball specialist made his name with Swiss outfit Grasshopper Club Zurich, with whom he won the 2014-15 league title.
Hajrovic had just one year left on his contract with Grasshopper and had been shortlisted by Brighton for a Bosman transfer in January 2016, but LuaLua's departure necessitated an earlier move. It is believed that Indiblue personally flew out to Zurich to speak with the player after Brighton agreed to meet his £4.5 million release clause.
Hajrovic will want to prove that he is not a small-league wonder
"I feel really excited to join Brighton and play in the Premier League. I achieved so much with Grasshopper and they made me who I am today, but this is the right move for my career at the moment," said the winger, who will wear the iconic number 11 shirt at the Amex.

Q: Three matches left to play, and 1 point out of European play. You set this goal at the start of the season, do you think these next 3 matches will go in your favor?
A: We need to go out there ant take care of business, but unfortunately it is also in the hands of other teams as well. However, I feel confident that we will be playing European football next year.
Q: Injuries, injuries, injuries. They just don't seem to leave you alone. Will missing Dani Iglesias and Gary Medel hurt your chances to accomplish the goal you set for this season.
A: It certainly doesn't make it any easier. both Dani and Gary had been playing very good football as of late and losing them hurts. We got lucky that Graziano Pelle returned from his injury just in time to give us a proven scoring threat at the striker position. Enriquez finally started to pick up his form so he will be slotting into Medel's deep midfield spot.
Q: Bicho has officially put in a transfer request. Will you be letting him leave the club this offseason?
A: It didn't come as too much of a surprise. He had turned down a contract extension just last month. I will be reviewing the situation with the board as well as the player and we will decide the best move for all parties involved.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Okay, so I was playing United at Old Trafford, about 50 minutes gone and I'm looking to create a good chance. Buckley collects on the right and plays a one-two with Jonathan, who runs forward into space. Buckley passes to Bridcutt, Bridcutt passes to Mutch, Mutch passes to Jonathan with wide open space in front of him. He gets forward with the ball and hits in a cross to the middle, when all of a sudden...
Everyone said that Nicklas Bendtner was a joke...
That's why you never ridicule a striker who plays with his back to goal...
Just so you know exactly who the king is...
What a way to go 1-0 up...
They never said whose dreams...
Yeah, that actually happened. Bicycle kick. Nicklas Bendtner. At Old Trafford. Unfortunately, I ended up drawing 2-2, but that's another story. I'm not even upset with the result, mostly because I got too excited and gave away silly goals, but partly because I managed THIS beauty. And to think, I was doubting His Excellence at the start of the season...Comment

Moussa gave us and early lead, rifling in from the edge of the box, but Gordon volley in from close range. And when Fleck missed a penalty, Stevenage countered and Freeman nodded in.
FA Cup Round 4
Coventry 0-0 Crystal Palace
Such a dull game as we take out second Premier League opposition to another replay.
FA Cup Replay
Crystal Palace 2-1 Coventry
Bolasie 11

Chamakh 52
Bolasie gave Palace the lead after a stupid defensive error but Wilson smashed in to equalise. Unfortunately, Chamakh headed in to win it.
Match 32

Willis 77
Moussa smashed in from close range to open the scoring and Willis settled it with a headed from a John Fleck corner. Unfortunately, Delfouneso got injured and will be out for 8 weeks.
Match 33
Coventry 3-0 Swindon

Willis headed us into the lead before Seaborne was sent off for a rash challenge. Martial ran clear, just after half time and smashed in and Fleck curled in to make it 3.
Match 34
Crewe 1-0 Coventry
Inman 3
Not a result we wanted. Inman headed in after Crewe came out of the blocks early and then we couldn't break them down.
Thoughts
Not a bad month but Wolves can still catch us. They are 2 points behind with a game in hand.Comment

Ah, the feeling of being close enough to taste European football and having to hope luck falls in your lap. Good luck, hope you make it as I'm trying to do the same thing. Surprised that Bilbao and Sociedad are nowhere to be seen competing for European spots.
BTW, RM Castilla are in La Liga? Didn't think they could be promoted.
My thoughts as well. Those two are usually strong contenders for at least Europa league.
In real life no, but in the game yes. Both Barcelona B and Castilla are good teams if you want to play as Barcelona or RM, but don't want to have that big budget behind you.Comment

I have 1 left but I won't say anything about where it stands, I'll save that for the last update. Even as it is right now, nothing is certain as there are 3-4 teams fighting for those last spots depending on how everyone's last match goes.Comment

Q: Unbelievable, one month ago you were on the outside looking in for a top 6 spot, and here we are today with Deportivo going to the Champions League. How would you recap this magical season?
A: Wow, just wow. This group of players never gave up fighting all season. We found ourselves looking in on the top 6 throughout much of the season knowing it was just in our grasp. We came into these last three matches 1 point out of a qualifying spot and our goal was to take it. We faltered in our first match only managing a draw, but we took all 6 points from the last two and someone was watching over us because the other teams ahead of us dropped their matches and here we are in the Champions League. Words really can't describe the feeling in that locker room right now. We are going to take our time to celebrate this accomplishment and after that it will be time to start preparing for our biggest challenge yet.
Q: Memphis Depay really seemed to carry this team through the last stages of this campaign. Do you think you could have still finished this high without his late season heroics?
A: Not enough can be said for what he added to our team down the stretch. In the 9 matches in the last 2 months he was able to score 10 goals. His run of form at the end was just simply amazing, and I am hoping that it will carry over into next season.
Q: With a new season and the Champions League on the horizon, what transfer plans are you expecting?
A: I plan on accepting the option to buy Marcos Lopes after his loan. He impressed me in the second half of the season after he came over and I think the supporters here will be happy to see more of him. Beyond that I might look into adding even more to the midfield. With the extra European matches, depth will be a very important factor. With Pelle's injury struggles last season as well, I will be looking into options at striker options to provide quality depth in case someones goes down like last season. I will also be re-evaluating the back line and seeing if anything is needed there. They took a huge step forward as a group this year so nothing is decided yet.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Dagenham - 2014 season
As initially mentioned at the end of page 223, this is a career mode with coach Richard Paez being the center of attention. He takes over one of the lowest rated teams in England's League 2 and will embark on a journey to bring them to the highest level of English football.
Paez takes over a young roster with some promising players. As expected the budget is low. Here's the roster at the moment (after 3 friendly games, just before the first game of the season). Paez will be running a 4-4-2 diamond.
Starters
GK: Jordan Seabright (52 OVR) - The 19 year old kid from England is raw, but he performed better than or equally as well as his competition - Chris Lewington - who may not be on the roster for much longer. Very risky decision here.
RB: Gavin Hoyte (56 OVR) - Probably the player with the most PT to lose. The 23 year old from England hasn't been impressive and is the lowest rated starter after Seabright.
RCB: Luke Wilkinson (62 OVR) - Hoping this 21 year old kid from England will develop well as I plan to get him plenty of PT. Easily my highest rated defender and tied for my highest rated player
LCB: Brian Saah (58 OVR) - It was a tough call to choose between him and Scott Doe, but at the end the 26 year old from England seems to bring more to the table. He will definitely be pushed by Doe for PT.
LB: Oluwafemi Ilesanmi (58 OVR) - Acrobatic speedster could develop into a nice gem on the left side. Paez likes to get his fullbacks involved offensively so the 22 year old from England could be a difference maker.
CDM: Abu Ogogo (62 OVR) - The 23 year old from England has earned captain duties. Possess the stamina desired to hold down this position.
RM: Zavon Hines (62 OVR) - Another acrobatic player on the roster. This 24 year old from England brings speed to the table.
LM: Medy Elito (58 OVR) - The most exciting player on the roster. Scouts label him as someone who "has that special something". The acrobatic 23 year old from Englad also has some flair to his game.
CAM: Luke Howell (60 OVR) - Critics will argue that Howell is playing out of position but Paez will try him here in the early going and see how this works.
RS: Rhys Murphy (60 OVR) - The 22 year old from Ireland is labeled by some as injury prone. We hope that won't be the case.
LS: Brian Woodall (58 OVR) - 25 year old from England will be handling most of the dead ball plays for Dagenham, so he'll have plenty of chances to be a difference maker.
Bench
Scott Doe (CB/RB, 58 OVR) - The 24 year old from England will be pushing both Hoyte and Saah for PT.
Sean Shields (CAM/RM, 57 OVR) - This 21 year old kid from Northern Ireland will be pushing Howell for PT.
Gianluca Gracco (ST, 56 OVR) - The 23 year old from Italy doesn't stand out on paper, we'll see how he does on the field.
Josh Scott (ST/RW, 56 OVR) - The 28 year old vet from England isn't on the team's long-term plans and has been transfer listed.
Jake Reed (ST/RW/LW, 56 OVR) - The 22 year old from England is in a battle with Gracco for PT as a sub striker.
Billy Bingham (CM/LM, 55 OVR) - The 23 year old from England should get ample time as a sub due to the lack of midfielders on the team.
Afolabi Obafemi (ST/CF/LW, 55 OVR) - The 18 year old youngster from England brings something to the table that Paez loves in sub strikers: SPEED. He'll have plenty of opportunities to display his skill and earn PT.
Reserve:
Chris Lewington (GK, 58 OVR) - Was slightly outplayed in preseason and the club agreed on a transfer fee of $130K to send him to Oxford United.
Ian Gayle (CB, 53 OVR) - The 20 year old from England will have to wait for his opportunity.
Ricardo Santos (CB, 49 OVR) - The club is hoping to loan out this raw 18 year old prospect from Portugal.
TRANSFERS IN: None
TRANSFERS OUT: Matthew Saunders (CM, 55 OVR) - sold to Newport County for $150K; Louis Dennis (RM, 57 OVR) - loaned to Colchester United for the season; Jack Connors (LB, 51 OVR) - loaned to Wycombe Wanderers for the season.
The team many not add any players to the roster in this transfer window. Nevertheless scouts are currently out in England and Scotland trying to find any players that may merit addition to the roster at the moment via the GTN. Reports say the team is looking for goalkeeper, right back, and strikers.
Paez also has a vision of improving the team via the youth squad. With this in mind the team has hired three 1-star scouts: Jerome Stones from England, Gabriel Rodriguez from Spain, and Yohan Sterckx from Belgium. All three of them are out on 3-month scouting assignments: Stones in England, Rodriguez in Spain, and Sterckx in Scotland.
Wish. Me. LUCK.vrabbit

Hopefully you can use the money to bring in some fresh talent of a higher class, but don't forget the boys who helped the club get to this stage!Comment

Q: A lot of transfer activity. The main story of the window being the sale of Suso. He meant a lot to this team and his presence will be very hard to replace. What is your strategy in moving on without him?
A: I could talk all day about Suso and I still wouldn't have said all I wanted to. He was a huge part of this club ever since we bought him for only 6.5M. Several clubs were interested and we once again set our value and stuck to it. Last year we set his value at 35M and a deal was almost made with United, but this year we raised it after his great season to 40M and Fiorentina came in and met it. It was hard to see him go, but this is a great opportunity for him and I know they will not be disappointed in the level of player they got. The funds we got from the sale really let us prepare for Champions League play. We brought in a great midfielder in Jonathan Dos Santos who should feature a lot for us. We improved our attack by bringing in Morata and Terrence Boyd. Morata is likely to be our main striker moving forward with Dani Iglesias close on his heels. Boyd is a great depth option and he will see the pitch from time to time. We also brought in Manoel from the Brazilian league. He will need some time to adjust to the different league, but his talent is undeniable and he will get plenty of opportunities early on. All together with the loss of Suso, we were able to use the funds from his sale to improve the team all around.
Q: Congratulations on advancing to the group stages of the Champions League. Your group consists of yourselves, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, and PAOK. Do you think you can advance from this group?
A: It certainly isn't an easy group by any means, but then again there is no such thing as an easy group in the Champions League. These are the best of the best teams in Europe and nothing is going to come easy. We have made several additions to this team to prepare ourselves for this test, and I promise you that we will prepare as hard as possible for each match.
Q: What are your expectations for Deportivo in La Liga this season?
A: As I said last year, I don't believe in setting expectations lower than what you last accomplished. So this year our target will be to get back to the Champions League. I think we have a good shot at it after the additions we brought in. We still need to stay focused though, and the added European fixtures certainly won't make it easier.
