Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Started a career mode with my team Aston Villa disabled first transfer window as the team has a good selection to start with.
I haven't settled on a formation yet as i keep letting balls through atm I'm sticking to a 4411 but might try a 4231 with RAM and LAM switching to RM and LM but with a selection of good strikers I'm struggling to play with only the on up from as this is how I always play with villa
Pre season went well with 2 wins and 1 draw and no injuries but first game against arsenal was terrible was playing well to santi cazorla got injured and ozil come on he rippe my defence apart with his trough balls and ended up losing 3-0 next game is Chelsea so gonna hold on for a draw and try for a win against Liverpool
My targets for the January transfers is to get a new RB CM and a CAM so could do with some help on tho positions I have 11mil
Is there a way to save scouting reports with values as they delete after a month?Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
SEASON 2Team: Portsmouth
League: Football League 1
Difficulty: World Class w/ Gonira/Orion Sliders
Objective: Finish Mid-Table, Round of 32
I finished my first season in 1st place by leaps and bounds. I think it's time to bump the difficulty to Legendary. I'm definitely a lot better now than I was when I started. Now I dominate possession (more so than usual) as well as having way more shots than the CPU, although I lack in the accuracy department so if I take 15 shots, 6 will probably be on target.
God bless Gonira and Orion concerning making their slider sets. It's such a delicate balancing act creating a game that is challenging yet fair.
Anyway, I've now started my 2nd season, now in League 1 after being promoted. In the January transfer period of my first season I brought in Adam Campbell from Newcastle for $650K to fill the hole that would be left when David Connolly retired. That was supposed to be the only move I made because Pompey doesn't have much in the way of a budget, but I got quite a few offers for my starting 26 y/o LM Andy Barcham, who grew +2 to 67 OVR and was in great form. I sold him and brought in Jordan Obita from Reading who's OVR is lower at 65 but is also a lot younger at 19 so he has room to grow. At the end of the season David Connolly decided not to retire, having just had a 14 goal season, but he's now only 61 OVR and is 37 so his time as a starter is up.
To start my 2nd season I went shopping for a 20-22 y/o ST to compliment young Adam Campbell and a better GK. However, since I'm Pompey and I'm broke there's no way I was going to get 2 decent to promising players outside of picking up Free Agents, so I went dumpster diving and came out pretty well:
ST - Trent Federici, 22, 65 OVR
GK - Gael Perdomo, 24, 65 OVR
CM - Pedro Azogue, 18, 63 OVR
Azogue was a bonus as I had some loots left over and decided to pick him up to replace an aging Johannes Ertl. As soon as I saw him I knew I had to get him because as it turns out I had a Pedro Azogue from my Youth Academy in FIFA 13 who turned out to be great. Here's hoping. With any luck even if these guys don't have really high potentials, they'll grow enough for me to flip them in 2 or 3 seasons to finance better players at those positions.
While my goal is to finish mid-table I'm thinking that I may be able to do better than that. My team is now 2* and has the talent for at least a 5th to 10th place finish, maybe even promotion (although I don't really want to get promoted). I'm already a few games in and I'm currently 4th. Thoughts?
GK - Gael Perdomo, 24, 65 OVR
LB - Danny East, 22, 62 OVR
LCB - Bondz N'Gala, 24, 64 OVR
RCB - Marcos Painter, 27, 62 OVR
RB - Sonny Bradley, 22, 62 OVR
LM - Jed Wallace, 20, 68 OVR
LCM - Pedro Azogue, 18, 63 OVR
RCM - Simon Ferry, 26, 67 OVR
RM - Jordan Obita, 20, 68 OVR

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Won the title and promotion in my first season with Nottingham Forest (117 points, 36-9-1 record), and I'm joined in the EPL this season by QPR and Bolton Wanderers. But my real triumph was winning the FA Cup, beating Arsenal 4-3 in an absolute thriller at Wembley to snag the trophy and a spot in the Euro League!
Jamie Mackie top scored in the league with 23 goals (27 in all competitions), with Victor Andrade and Jordon Mutch taking third and fourth spots on that chart with 18 goals each. Mutch was especially fruitful with 22 goals and 21 assists in all competitions, including a brace and two assists in the FA Cup final. Needless to say, plenty of clubs wanted to peel those three away from me. Fraser Forster and his 28 clean sheets also got a ton of transfer offers, including Real Madrid and Juventus.
Abou Diaby, Bafetimbi Gomis, and Jonathan Biabiany came in as expected and immediately strengthened my squad. The board handed me a transfer budget of £23 million (I still had some money left over from last season's takeover, so I pushed it all into wages to carry it over). I signed Lee Cattermole from relegated Sunderland (£2.6 million + Dexter Blackstock), Nathan Ake on a permanent deal from Chelsea (£1.8 million), Sam Byram from Leeds (£2.4 million + Gonzalo Jara), Bruno Martins Indi from Feyenoord (£2.5 million), and Bertrand Traore from Chelsea on a season loan.
Made the sliders less "me-friendly" because the Premiership is a completely different ballgame compared to the Championship. Beat Milan 4-1 in the first friendly, and lost 2-1 to Roma and 2-0 to Levante. For the Community Shield against Manchester United, I used a custom 4-4-1-1 with the CF slightly deeper and more to the right, kind of like what Arsenal used up until the mid-2000s. It worked wonders for me, and I beat them 2-1.
On opening day, I managed a creditable 0-0 draw to Liverpool at home. My second game was away to Everton, and Gomis notched my first PL goal in the 18th minute. We were beasts for the first half, but Everton came out strong after the break to win 2-1.
Third game was Tottenham at home, and they went ahead 2-0 in the first 15 minutes with a Holtby brace (cheap chipped through balls, both). I managed to pull one back right after the break, but Holtby got his hat-trick with a long-range strike at the hour mark. I got another goal at the 80th minute and floundered two good chances with Diaby to snag a point; I would have, too, if my shot error slider wasn't at 55, but hey that's the game -- it happens!
Overall, I'm very happy with the team's ability to score. Need to work on organisation, especially in transitions to defensive phases. I noticed my attacking LB was caught too far up the pitch on all three goals I conceded against Tottenham, so I adjusted his work rate -- that should help plug a gap. My only gripe with the game at this point is that player switching can sometimes be a massive PITA, especially when it leads to a goal.
On deadline day, I considered buying a versatile forward (wing/CF/ST) with the £12 million I have left but decided against it. Always liked Victor Moses, but his wages were too high for the kind of quality he'd offer. Plus, Hatem Ben Arfa will be available for free in January, which will allow me to spend that money on shoring up my defensive line and central midfield (Wilson doesn't have much of a future with me).
Nottingham Forest 2014/15
1 Forster 80
2 Byram 71 -- 5 Dier 77 -- 4 Ake 72 -- 3 Cresswell 74
7 Biabiany 79 -- 6 Cattermole 74 -- 8 Diaby 77 -- 11 Mackay-Steven 75
10 Mutch 75
9 Gomis 80
Substitutes: GK Darlow, CB Wilson, RB Lichaj, CDM Chalobah, CM Lansbury, RM Abdoun, ST Mackie
Reserves: CB Lascelles, LB Indi, CAM Traore, CF Andrade
***
If anyone's interested, here's the setup for my 4-4-1-1:
RB: Medium attack/high defense
RCB: Medium attack/high defense
LCB: Medium attack/high defense
LB: Medium attack/high defense, going forward on attack
RM: Medium attack/low defense
RDM: Low attack/high defense
LDM: Medium attack/medium defense, tracking back on defense
LM: Medium attack/high defense
CF: Medium attack/low defense, tracking back on defense
ST: High attack/medium defense
High-attack full backs tend not to track back for me, irrespective of defensive work rate. These make sure my defenders are always present during all but the most devastating counters, but still able to plug midfield gaps and play the ball out of defence.
One winger (RM) is all-out attack: crossing, cutting in and shooting, dribbling. The other (LM) plays with a bit more balance, cutting in to shoot when he goes forward but tracking back with a slightly higher-than-usual defensive work rate.
The DM on the side of the attacking winger stays deep to cover for any potential gaps, while the DM on the side of the faux wing back has a bit more license to go forward but is expected to drop very deep in defensive phases.
The CF work rate lets him stay in his position to pass, dribble and shoot -- he doesn't get as involved in the build-up play until we're in the final third or so, but he's always a potent goal threat. My striker is the one who drops deep and runs about a bit more, so he's the stronger of the two, a hustling target man so to speak.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Been quite an exciting time for Nottingham Forest in our first season back in the Premiership! After losing to Everton and Tottenham, I made some small tweaks to my formation and am now in a much better position to adapt to defensive transitions. With 17 points from nine games (5-2-2), I find myself in sixth position level on points with Chelsea, though with a poorer goal difference.
Results so far:
Forest 0-0 Liverpool
Everton 2-1 Forest
Forest 2-3 Tottenham
Norwich 0-4 Forest
Forest 1-0 Fulham
Newcastle 0-2 Forest
Forest 0-0 QPR
Bolton 0-3 Forest
Forest 4-1 Stoke
Mutch is my top scorer with six league goals (eight in all competitions, and overall five assists to boot, what a player!), and Gomis has been quite a beast with four in six games. Forster has managed to keep six clean sheets, and the team is really the surprise package of the season! Really chuffed to be getting these points because in my experience, a bad run is inevitable in the EPL. And in November, I've got Arsenal away, Chelsea away, and Manchester United home!
In the league cup, I've managed to beat Derby (1-0) and Sheffield Wednesday (2-1), with a Round of 16 tie against Dagenham my last game in October. Quarterfinals should be on the cards.
In the Euro League, I was drawn with Lille, KV Kortrijk (Belgium) and C. Funchal. Beat Funchal at home 3-1 and drew Kortrijk away 1-1. Lille have won both their games and are my next opponent, away. Should ideally get three points given my current form, but I'll settle for one if I end up with a draw.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Oh, and if anyone is interested, this is what my league table currently looks like:
1. Manchester United, 9 games, 21 points
2. Manchester City, 9 games, 20 points
3. Arsenal, 9 games, 20 points
4. Aston Villa, 9 games, 18 points
5. Chelsea, 9 games, 17 points
6. Nottingham Forest, 9 games, 17 points
7. Liverpool, 9 games, 15 points
---
18. Fulham, 9 games, 6 points
19. Crystal Palace, 9 games, 4 points
20. Queens Park Rangers, 9 games, 1 point (surprise, surprise)
Euro League:
Lille, 2 games, 6 points
Forest, 2 games, 4 points
KV Kortrijk, 2 games, 1 point
C. Funchal, 2 games, 0 points
R16 League Cup:
Forest - Dagenham
Chelsea - Aston Villa
Arsenal - West Ham
Tottenham - Barnsley
Stoke - Sunderland
Manchester City - Newcastle
Manchester United - Bolton
Liverpool - Everton
Considering QPR are practically relegated already, I might raid their ranks come January. I'm not too happy with Jamie Mackie this season, so I'd probably exchange him and some cash for either Remy or Austin (whoever takes a smaller role). I also need another winger, so Hoilett could be a good buy on the cheap considering he's not in great form, especially if he agrees to a smaller-than-crucial role.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Loving career more. Just finished my 3rd full year. Started in the MLS, got sent to Motherwell, now just finished my 2nd season at Arsenal. Playing on world class and its quite challenging. Won Champions cup my first year at Arsenal but havnt won anything else of note in the top divisions.
But I've been trying to figure out how to save replays or screen shots. Playing on the PS4, anyone know how to do this? I see the "share" button on the controller but posting it to facebook isnt what I have in mind.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Perhaps you could decrease the speed slider while increasing the accel slider. A large enough disparity between the two would have your players spending more time at top speed, while keeping that top speed sufficiently low such that it doesn't make the game frantic. Essentially you want to balance it such that you're burning through your energy meter.Last edited by NightmareBooster; 12-05-2013, 09:37 AM.XBL GT: The Kingpin187Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
In my Real Madrid CM, after a rough start due to me still getting used to legendary, we have won 3 straight after 9 matches. We are 8th in Liga BBVA; 5 wins to 4 losses. In what mirrors real life, Luis Suarez (my big signing), has been in fine form. He scored a perfect hat trick two matches ago in a 3-2 win against Levante. He has scored 9 goals in 9 matches with one assist.
I run a 4-3-3 false 9 with Suarez as my Centre Forward; the Bale to Suarez connection is unmatched. Bale hasn't scored in the last two matches but has 3 assists in that period. Marco Reus my RW scored a goal in my last match that turned out to be the game winner. He's had a harder time finding his role on the squad. In Champions league competition, we have lost the first two in group stage. next match is against PSG and after that we play Barcelona in domestic league play. I plan to rest my starters against PSG since I think I have a better shot at taking La Liga than mounting a comeback in Champions league.
The higher scores I have been having I think reflect my improvement using manual controls. I am able to place the ball in the corners of the net rather than straight at the keeper or 10 yards wide. Plus, using a squad with Suarez, Reus and Bale I better score 2-3 goals a match.Comment
