        Thanks! I couldn't believe I kept dropping points like that in the end, and that Watford seemed to somehow keep dropping points at the same time as well. Truly involved a little bit of luck on my end, but I made it!

        Thanks! The F.A. Cup game was incredibly hard as it felt like they were always threatening and any time they started a counter I was scrambling to get my back line set to hold it off. The finish was just amazing with Gyau scoring in the 120th minute off a rebound just as I thought it was heading to penalties.

        A little preview to the next update, there was an early season rematch of the F.A. Cup final in one of my first few Premier League matches.

            January 2018 - Season 5

            AFC Wimbledon 3 - 2 Norwich City
            NOR: Reeves 32' Redmond 52'
            WIM: Vincent 45' Gornell 70' Clayton 74'
            Chavez fielded a fatigued starting eleven for this match since a win was required in order to continue pushing for a top finish. The plan almost backfired, since surprisingly the Wombles were chasing the match the entire time. Norwich took advantage of their 2 goal opportunities and sat back to defend their lead twice, while Wimbledon struggled to break through Norwich's defense. It looked like this would be another draw for the Dons, but Max Clayton came on to the pitch in the 60th minute and managed to get the winning goal after being played through on goal by Terry Gornell and defeating the goalkeeper in a one on one. The fans will be disappointed that their team struggled so much against a team in relegation zone, but Wimbledon got the win and that's what's important.

            FA CUP - Round 3
            AFC Wimbledon 1 - 1 West Ham United
            WIM: Clayton 45'
            WHM: Hughes 68'
            The defending champions faced the Hammers in their first FA Cup match, and were actually very close to being eliminated. The Wimbledon B team held possession well, but struggled to finish the plays and made many defensive mistakes. Wimbledon's top signing Sam Vokes was recently demoted to the B team, but today he didn't even start. Vokes entered the match as a second half sub and helped to keep possession. The Welshman was expected to fill the space James Hanson had left behind but has really struggled to adapt to Wimbledon. West Ham were extremely close to getting the win in the final minutes but surprisingly Jacob Murphy blocked the shot right on the goal line! The team's morale really took a drop after this match as pressure begins to build on the B team, and it is rumored that Ross Worner has been transfer listed as well as one of the players from the back 3. Both London squads will now have to face each other again in a replay.

            AFC Wimbledon 1 - 2 Arsenal
            ARS: Pogba 32' Wilshere 57'
            WIM: Clayton 73'
            The Dons were unable to get a league double over Arsenal and failed to get any points this week. This allows Arsenal to continue to compete with Manchester United for the league title, while Wimbledon's UCL ambition begins to fade away. Max Clayton has become somewhat of an impact sub scoring in the last 3 games two of which were from second half substitutions. Despite having the most possession, Wimbledon were unable to take advantage of their chances.

            Transfer Activity
            After the Arsenal match, AFC Wimbledon officially announced and presented two new signings!

            CB - Danny Wilson (26 yrs 69 OVR) - $700,000
            Player Value: $725,000
            The Scottish defender has joined the Wombles from Scotland Premier League side Hearts. The 26 year old defender has not been called up to the international team since Chavez took the reins and will no doubt see this as an opportunity to impress the international manager on a daily basis and possibly get himself a call up in the future.

            CB - Jack Stephens (24 yrs 67 OVR) - $1,000,000
            Player Value: $650,000
            The Englishman joins Wimbledon from English League 1 side Swindon Town. Negotiations were a bit bumpy as Swindon Town did not want to let go of the player, initially stating that he was not for sale and they wouldn't be convinced. Regardless, Chavez sent his men and a deal was reached.

            We don't expect to see the new additions to the club in the starting eleven, but these two players will be vital in making the B team more solid in defense and also to put pressure on the starting back 3.

            ~~~~~~~~~~
            FA Cup - Round 3 Replay
            West Ham 1 - 4 AFC Wimbledon
            WIM: Harvey 8' 78' Ortiz 28' May 41'
            WHM: Hooper 31'
            The Hammers had came into this match petty confident that they could get the win over the Wimbledon B team since in the first match they were extremely close in doing so. Wimbledon surprised all of us though and showed a different face, dominating possession and out shooting their opponent who barely had any chance to push forward. A few changes in the lineup today, Sam Hird (62) and Barry Fuller (63) were replaced in the back 3 by the new signings Danny Wilson at CB and Jack Stephens at LCB. Youth academy graduate Craig May (67) kept his spot as RCB. Both new signings played rather well and impressed on their debut, giving the back line a bigger sense of security and confident with the ball at their feet. Another change in the lineup was the return of Wimbledon's biggest signing of the season Sam Vokes. However, Vokes did not play as the target man due to his poor performance this season in that position, and instead played as the playmaking striker, expected to receive the ball from the midfielders and hold it until a space opens up. Vokes used his strength to his advantage brilliantly and, although he did not get a shot on goal, he contributed with 2 assists! If he continues this form, he very well may challenge Luke James, a weaker but faster striker, to get his place in the starting eleven back since he showed that he can be a very effective playmaking striker.
            Middlesbrough 0 - 2 AFC Wimbledon
            WIM: Gornell 61' Clayton 79'
            Wimbledon came out today desperate for 3 points to get back on track for a top of the table finish. The desperation was only getting worse as the game reached the hour mark and Wimbledon couldn't score despite being completely in control of the match. It almost looked like if some superior forces didn't want Wimbledon to win as their star striker Terry Gornell hit the post 4 times before finally getting a goal. Max Clayton made another substitute appearance and scored another goal!
            Ross Worner Leaves Kingsmeadow after 5 Years
            Fan favorite and idol, Ross Worner (70 OVR), has officially left the Wombles and joined relegation-zone club Norwich City for a $1,100,000 USD fee. The English goalkeeper achieved great things with Wimbledon, like 3 back to back Golden Glove awards and finishing in the Top 3 league goalkeepers last season. This season he was dropped to the B team in order to make way for youth academy graduate Christophe Brown who had an impressive preseason. Worner is a player who in the past was constantly receiving offers from other clubs, but due to his recent drop of form and minutes only one club made an offer this window.
            Adam Cowie (66 OVR) has been recalled early from his loan at Charlton Athletic to replace Worner. The youth academy graduate has developed significantly at Charlton and had a very productive loan spell.
            ~~~~~~~~~~

            FA Cup - Round 4
            AFC Wimbledon 0 - 0 West Bromwich Albion
            The Wimbledon B team hosted West Bromwich (16th place in the FL Championship) but neither team was able to get an advantage. Wimbledon were the superior team, with new signings Danny Wilson and Jack Stephens impressing once again, but this match was a duel between two goalkeepers: English international John Ruddy and Scotland youth international Adam Cowie. Ruddy is the standout player at West Brom and he proved that today stopping every thing the Dons could shoot at him. Adam Cowie made his season debut in goal for Wimbledon and played an incredible match as well. Both clubs will now have to face each other again in a replay.

            AFC Wimbledon 2 - 1 Stoke City
            WIM: Pell 16' Gornell 26'
            STO: Ireland 32'
            Wimbledon were able to take the 3 points which are vital to stay alive on the league table.

            FA Cup - Round 4 Replay
            West Bromwich Albion 1 - 2 AFC Wimbledon
            WBA: Elmohamady 45'
            WIM: Vokes 73' 102'
            Once again Ruddy was impossible to get through and he almost held Wimbledon off just enough for his team to go through to the next round. Sam Vokes was able to get the equalizing goal, once again putting in a great performance as the creating striker, and then scored the winning goal in extra time. Danny Wilson also put in a great match, so the pressure is on for the starting back 3. We caught up with the Wombles manager Chavez for a few words: "We knew that West Brom's biggest strength is Ruddy and it would be very difficult getting the ball past him. To be one of England's top goalkeepers while playing in a lower division speaks for itself. With all due respect I think Ruddy made a terrible choice when he left Norwich for West Brom. Norwich haven't been the same since he left and they have a much more balanced squad compared to West Brom."

            Notable Youth Academy Players
            * = New Addition

            Conor Marsden - ST (50-54, 73-77): This 17 year old from England may not have much potential, but he is a an exciting player due to his height: 6'4". Chavez is anxious to bring him up as he can fill in the target man position Hanson left behind, but he wants to wait at least one more season before calling him up.

            Dean Rhodes - LB (60-64, 86-92): We thought Chavez would call this 16 year old from Scotland to the senior team but it looks like Chavez wants him to spend one more season with the U-17.

            Jamie Mannus - CDM (49-51, 82-88): This 15 year old from Northern Ireland has a bright future ahead of him. He stands at 6'5" and prefers playing as a defensive midfielder. Competition between him and Sean Archer in the U-17 is very close, with Mannus being more defensive minded. We expect great things from these two players.

            Mark Watt - GK (56-60, 79-85): The 17 year old from Scotland looked set to be promoted last season, but Chavez decided to give him one more season with the U-17. He may be promoted next May.

            Matt Cameron - CAM (46-54, 71-85): The 15 year old from England is one of the most recent signings to the youth academy and we're still learning from the attacking midfielder.

            Michael Thompson - CAM/CF (48-50, 82-88): The 16 year old from Northern Ireland has been impressing with the U-17 this year, particularly with his strength. He is hard to push off the ball, but he may not be promoted until next season.

            Scott Stewart - LB (59-63, 80-86): The 15 year old from Scotland shows a lot of promise but may be used as a CB by Chavez due to his defensive mentality. There's a high chance he'll be promoted next season.

            Sean Archer - CDM (50-54, 85-91): The 15 year old from Scotland is an incredible playmaker who prefers to stay in the defensive half and analyze the game from there. He's one of the most exciting players in the U-17 but he will not be eligible to be registered with the senior squad until next season.

            *Chris McGinn - DEF/MID (38-50, 76-94):
            The 16 year old from Northern Ireland has recently joined the Wimbledon academy so we are still learning from his playing style.

            Transfer Summary

            ST - Scott Wilson (16 yrs 63 OVR): Loaned to Yeovil Town

            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
            There weren't many big signings in England this transfer window. The biggest would be Newcastle star striker Jackson Martinez leaving to Bayern Munich. Since his departure, Newcastle United has dropped out of a Europe position on the league table. Newcastle used the funds to bring in centre back Mangala. Marcos Rojo has joined Fulham from Sporting CP and Mario Balotelli has joined Real Madrid from AC Milan.
            AFC Wimbledon are scheduled to face Mönchengladbach in the Europa League this upcoming month and Brentford in the FA Cup.
            Wimbledon goalkeeper Christophe Brown (1 intl. cap - did not debut) has been left out of the Scotland roster for the upcoming friendlies against Belgium and Brazil. When we asked Chavez about this, he merely stated that Brown (68 OVR) lost focus after his first call up, and he would like him to first be able to balance club and international focus. The goalkeeper is still very young and is a potential candidate to be the starting goalkeeper for Scotland in this year's World Cup. Jason Cummings (19 yrs 71 OVR) from Reading has received his first international call up and could also make his debut in one of the two friendlies. He's another potential candidate for the starting spot at the World Cup.
            That's all we have for you this time.
                  Dagenham - Wigan Athletic (0-1)
                  Bode '50
                  FL Championship Standings
                  1. Wigan Athletic - 36pts
                  2. Bolton - 34pts
                  3. Dagenham - 32pts
                  4. Leicester City - 31pts
                  5. Wolverhampton - 30pts
                  6. Stoke City - 28pts
                  You wouldn't know unless I told you but the Daggers were actually at the top of the standings before dropping their last two games this month. Paez had made up his mind that the B team would play against Bristol City and it backfired on his face, although to be fair both their goals were incredibly difficult and not what he'd expect from them. Nonetheless, that marked the team's first defeat of the season. After the game Paez went to see whether Bolton had jumped right back up ahead in the standings only to notice that it was actually Wigan that had taken the top spot. Coincidentally that was the team's next opponent and in a very disputed matchup Wigan came away victorious by the minimal difference. Of course the negative ending to the month shouldn't overshadow plenty of positives, including Luis Valencia breaking out of his dryspell and the four straight wins to start the month.
                  Yet it's difficult to not say it was a very eventful month. Starting LB, Oluwafemi Ilesanmi, requested a raise in wages during the first week of the month. The team met his requirements with an offer for a contract extension; however, Ilesanmi responded by saying he wasn't sure about staying long-term with the team and the negotiations promptly stalled, soon hitting the headlines. With this tension in place Ilesanmi actually scored in the very next game but there was still no resolution to the issue. The team re-initiated conversations with Ilesanmi a couple of weeks later offering the same contract as before and he actually accepted it. Most recently Abu Ogogo has also requested a raise in wages and the sides are currently negotiating a deal. As far as the ongoing drama at the striker positions, Valencia's performance this month will make team's decisions more difficult while Chuba Akpom also scored again and owns the team lead in assists with 4. Josh Scott continues to lead all strikers in goals with 4 but it seems all but certain that this will be his last season with the team as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season. Reports indicate that the team reached out to him about a 1-year extension but Scott is asking for double his salary which the team isn't willing to give as they'd prefer to put that money towards younger talent. Meanwhile the team has scouts out in England and Scotland to get evaluations on Tom Eaves and James Collins respectively, though the scout in England is also keeping an eye on a couple of other prospects that got his attention.
                  Our youth scout in Italy send a second report but the team is still not impressed with anyone on there to add to the academy. The scout's job may be on the line if his final report does not provide any significant prospects for the team.
                  2. Argentina - 4pts
                  3. Venezuela - 4pts
                  4. Ecuador - 3pts
                  5. Brasil - 3pts
                  6. Uruguay - 3pts
                  7. Colombia - 3pts
                  8. Bolivia - 3pts
                  9. Paraguay - 0pts
                  10. Peru - 0pts
                  Paez got his native Venezuela to an amazing start in the qualifiers by beating Brazil for the first time ever behind a gutty performance from each and every player. Said performance was followed up in a tough battle against Argentina where the team held tough and was able to at least get a point surviving what was undoubtedly the toughest beginning for any of the 10 teams. With such great start Venezuela is in great position going forward although there are still a lot of games to be played (have to play each team twice - 18 games).
                  That's all for now
                        Thanks man! I had enough funds to make bigger signings but these players fit what I'm looking for. Plus, even though the team's overall is low I really like how they all play together. It's so tight at the top of the table that 3 points will take me back to Europe, but everybody keeps winning too! Premier League is no joke lol I added the 9th place Stoke City on the table so you guys could see how close the Top 8 are while 9th is farther away.
                        Thanks for the feedback really appreciate! Let me know if there's anything I should work on or change! Yep Shaun Vincent is the very same one you had picked from the academy. The only thing I don't like is that the only stats he's growing in are his mental stats. Even though it's just the mental stats that are improving he's up to 72 OVR already, same as Richard Odhlambo who's growing all around but for some reason the team plays better with Vincent on the field. Guess you have the magic touch lol
                            Press Conference
                            Q: Your first season in the Premier League has now started. Most experts believe it would be an accomplishment in itself if you were able to keep this club from being relegated. What are your expectations for this season?
                            A: I think a mid-table finish is something that we could be proud of to end this season. I don't believe in aiming to be just better than the bottom, and I have no expectations for this club to be anywhere near the relegation zone. I want us to show we belong this season and stay competitive in every game regardless of the opponent.
                            Q: You have brought in several youth players this season, with many making their debut in the Capital One Cup win against Oxford United. What kind of role will these young players have in this new campaign?
                            A: There are only a few that have begun to threaten for playing time so far, but we will be using competitions such as the Capital One Cup, and later the F.A. Cup to give these players a chance to prove themselves. It was a good start with the convincing win against Oxford, but I am not ready to react to the results of just one game.
                            Q: A lot of changes made to the team in the transfer market, but this time more in the subtractions than the additions. You have brought in only two players, but you have sold several players who made contributions to the squad last season. What is the reason for the departures of these players?
                            A: Abel Molinero had a good season last year, but Joe Gyau has proven himself to be the future in that position in the midfield and I feel that he really provides a more dangerous option that Abel. Jeremy Brockie had been solid for this club since coming over from Australia, but his time on the pitch had been slowly diminishing over the past couple seasons. We felt it was best for him to move on to a new opportunity elsewhere. Gabriel Graciani is a player with apparent quality, but he was brought in with a different formation in mind at the time of his signing. After the success with the current formation, he didn't have a natural fit in our XI anymore. On the other side, we are excited to be bringing in Sam Byram to improve our defense, and his ability to get forward down the right side of the pitch should prove to be useful as well. Szabolcs Varga is another player that we brought in, and he will be able to play both on the left side of the midfield diamond, as well as in a forward position. He is a great depth option, and has the potential to develop into a very good player for us.
                              That win against Wigan at the end really helped keep you close not just to the top 2, but at the top spot as well. I think you have a really good chance to win the league in all honesty. I wouldn't be surprised if you wind up on top! But get one of those top 2 spots for sure! Going through the playoffs is just annoying haha. Still a lot of games left to play, but I don't see any reason as to why your good form won't continue.
