STOKE CITY SEASON 2
AUGUST
Match 1
Sunderland 1 - 0 Stoke City
Giaccherini 39
Absolute disaster and a shocking performance by the new look Stoke City.
After Diouf's departure it is clear that a new front man is needed with Unal ineffective to say the least. Ayew injured on his debut.
MOM Jones
Match 2
Stoke City 3 - 0 Liverpool
Maupay 8
Maupay 27
Redmond 90
Much better performance by Stoke after some tinkering by Brown the home team had more cohesion and energy. Maupay and Redmond on the score sheet on debut.
MOM Maupay.
Match 3
Hull City 2 - 2 Stoke City
Jelavic 45
Dawson 55
Hernandez 77
Stones 90
More away misery by Stoke but a good comeback. Very wasteful in front of goal with numerous chances spurned. Javier Hernandez scoring on debut after signing 2 days previous. Stoke Goalkeeper Neto had a shocker.
MOM Hernandez.
Champions League Draw
Today saw the draw for the Champions League group stage.
Debutants Stoke City have been drawn in a tough group with
Athletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Bordeaux.
Press Conference
Q. Wow that is quite a group you have been drawn into surely progressing will be almost impossible.
A. Most people said that Stoke City even getting into the Champions League would be impossible. So while it is a tough group I know what the Lads are capable of on there day. We need to make the Britannia Stadium a European fortress and make teams fear coming to us.
Q. After an indifferent start to the new season is it fair to say the loss of Begovic, Diouf and Arnautovic are going to impact your season?
A. While I agree losing the players was a huge blow that would be a loss to any team, the players we have bought in are the future of this team and shows our commitment to rebuilding the club and looking to the long term future. For us to be able to sign the likes of Hernandez, Ayew and Pirlo is a clear statement of intent. The likes of Maupay, Mbemba and Gaya are future world beaters.
Q. Signing Pirlo is hardly building for the future at the age of 36 is it? Surely its just a marketing ploy to sell shirts?
A. Whilst I admit shirt sales have soared the reason we bought Andrea in was to give us that know how on a big European football night and also what he brings into the dressing room. Who better for the likes of Morrison, Alli, Manu and Cork to learn there craft from. Andrea is a World Class player.
Q. You have made a LOT of new signings and your league form has dipped. Do you think it was too many signings?
A. We really needed to add depth to our squad and so the players we have bought in will make key contributions this season. Will it take time to settle? Maybe, but the players we bought in are exactly the signings we needed and wanted.
Q. will the board feel the same if your league form doesn't improve?
A. Look it is only 3 games into the season so its hard to judge us yet. all I will say is watch this team grow and flourish. Thank you.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Leeds United's marauding wing back Sam Byram is the ideal backup to and replacement for Cristian Gamboa, but he can also play as a forward on the wings when required. The Essex lad could be available for a relatively low price, given his age and the league he plays in, but would have a tough time ahead of him displacing the current right back while adapting to the top flight. Indi is thought to be particularly keen on this transfer, as Byram is known to be one of the hardest-working defenders in English football's four divisions.
I got him for 3.5 million pounds in the first season.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
December 2018 - Season 6
FIFA '14Spoiler
Liverpool 1 - 1 AFC Wimbledon
WIM: Gornell 12'
LIV: M'Vila 81'
Liverpool were barely able to escape with the draw after holding off attack after attack from a confident Wimbledon. The Man of The Match award was given to Liverpool's new goalkeeper signing Ruffier, who recently joined from Swansea City. Wimbledon recorded a total of 13 shots on goal and Ruffier made 10 saves. Wimbledon definitely deserved the win, but Liverpool held their own.
Capital One Cup - Quarter Final
AFC Wimbledon 2 - 2 Blackburn Rovers
WIM: Vincent 13' May 69'
BLB: Marshall 40' Ginczek 45'
PKs: Wimbledon 4 - 3 Blackburn
The Wimbledon B team were very close to being eliminated from the league cup by Blackburn who are currently in relegation zone and relied on the cup to give their fans something to cheer about. Wimbledon were able to equalize the match and take it to penalties, where Adam Cowie became the hero of the evening after saving the deciding penalty shot. Blackburn played courageously despite their league troubles, but unfortunately they just barely fell short. On the bright side, they'll now be able to focus on the league matches, at least until the FA Cup begins.
AFC Wimbledon 3 - 1 Watford
WIM: James 8' 42' Gornell 66'
WAT: Fabbrini 22'
Watford was unable to compete against Wimbledon and received three goals when they could have easily received much more. Wimbledon bombarded the Watford net but the goalkeeper Salazar saved his team from further increasing their negative goal difference.
Champions League - Group E
Real Madrid 1 - 1 AFC Wimbledon
REA: Balotelli 12'
WIM: Clayton 87'
The Wombles have yet to defeat Los Merengues, but a draw is at least a step in the right direction. Wimbledon weren't as dangerous in front of goal as when they ran the 3-5-2 formation, but at least they were much more solid at the back. "I leave the Bernabéu in good spirits knowing that we didn't give up a late goal this time. One thing to point out is the fact that in all three matches their goalkeeper Muslera has been their man of the match. That pretty much goes to show how much they've had to rely on their goalkeeper in order to not lose against us. I would have liked a win, but the important thing is we're through to the next round." - Chavez, Wimbledon manager.
Blackburn Rovers 0 - 4 AFC Wimbledon
WIM: Gornell 23' Ruiz 38' James 45' Murphy 55'
Blackburn had gave the Wimbledon B team trouble in the Capital One Cup, but this time they faced the first team and were completely dominated on the pitch. The stadium fell silent as the home team received four goals. From then on, nothing but jeers were heard each time Blackburn lost the ball.
AFC Wimbledon 3 - 1 Manchester United
MUN: Nani 54'
WIM: Gornell 68' Paterson 73' 90'
Chavez has a good record against Manchester United and has just extended it. Long faces were seen on the Wimbledon bench when Nani scored the first goal and put United ahead, but then the Wombles came back with Gornell and Paterson scoring two quick goals. Paterson had been receiving a lot of criticism for going five games without a goal, but in my opinion you can't blame a striker for not scoring when he's playing as a wide midfielder now. Max Clayton has also been receiving criticism for not being that impact sub he was in the 3-5-2. Chavez subbed him in at RAM to move Paterson to RS, which allowed Paterson to score the first goal and then Clayton to assist his second. Cavani continues to struggle scoring on Wimbledon, having only scored once on the Dons in all the times he's faced them with PSG and United. Giggs noticed this (United manager in game) and subbed him out for Lewandowski who in turn created many more scoring opportunities. United were in the fight with Arsenal for the league title but this loss has left them with a disadvantage.
Stoke City 1 - 3 AFC Wimbledon
WIM: Murphy 10' Gornell 44' Tafazolli 60'
STK: De Vrij 45'
A very important match for Wimbledon, Tottenham had just drawn their match meaning that with the win the Wombles could climb into 4th on the league table. The Potters were able to get one back from a rebound but they were no match against a devoted Wimbledon who stepped onto the field with the win in mind.

Notable Youth Academy Players
Ben Sweeney - CM (61-65, 83-89): At only 16 years old this midfielder from England has already been labeled as being gifted technically. He shows ownership of the midfield with the youth team despite his short height: 5'7"
Charlie Hopper - LB (42-50, 78-92): The English born 16 year old has been developing really well with the U-17, known for being a playmaker.
Chris McGinn - CDM (61-65, 87-93): The 17 year old from Northern Ireland has finally chosen CDM as his position of choice. He's considered to be physically strong, but may not be promoted until next year.
Curtis Burgess - CM (44-46, 80-86): The English midfielder surprised us in his latest showings with the U-17. The staff saw him as an average player, but after a few months of being with the youth team he has shown that he has a bright footballing career ahead of him.
Jamie Mannus - CDM (60-64, 82-88): This 16 year old from Northern Ireland has a bright future ahead of him. He stands at 6'5" and prefers playing as a defensive midfielder. Competition between him and Sean Archer in the U-17 is very close, with Mannus being more defensive minded. We expect great things from these two players.
Scott McGabe - CDM (65-69, 85-91): The 16 year old from Scotland has been compared his compatriot Sean Archer as they both have similar playing styles. Both are defensive, playmaking, midfielders. McGabe's only flaw is his height: 5'7"
Sean Archer - CDM (61-65, 85-91): The 16 year old from Scotland is an incredible playmaker who prefers to stay in the defensive half and analyze the game from there. He's one of the most exciting players in the U-17 but he will not be registered with the senior squad until next season.
Steven Ross - CDM (58-62, 80-86): Defensive minded midfielder from Scotland. Recently turned 16 but won't be considered for promotion until next season.
Todd Zebroski - CDM (57-61, 80-86): 15 year old playmaker from England. Definitely one to keep an eye on but can't be promoted until next season.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The transfer window is right around the corner and Wimbledon are expected to go all out for a LB. If they are able to bring in a LB with attacking characteristics, there may be another formation change. Another thing to consider, what would happen to Jack Baldwin? He's a key player in the squad, but with Tafazolli and Tarkowski taking the two centre back positions we don't see how he will continue to fit in the squad.
Tom Lees has made it public that he is unhappy with management ever since losing his starting spot to James Tarkowski. Lees is one of the highest earners at the club and may be looking for a move away from the club.
Young Ben Sweeney has demanded to be called up to the senior team and seeing no other choice, Chavez has agreed to promote him. Sweeney was one of the top prospects in the academy, but we are unsure what role he will play with the senior team.
Only a few days after Sweeney voiced his demands another academy player demanded to be called up. Young English goalkeeper Richard Stacey (53-57, 75-81) felt his time was up in the academy and threatened to leave if a senior contract wasn't offered to him. His plan backfired and Chavez gave him the green light to pursue a footballing career elsewhere.
Some difficult matches coming up for Wimbledon, they have drawn Arsenal in the Capital One Cup semifinal fixture while Manchester City play Chelsea. (I had originally drawn Swansea, game froze, restarted, and fixtures changed leaving Swansea out. Just my luck.) Wimbledon's first match of the FA Cup has also been announced and they will face Tottenham Hotspur, who they lost to 3-2 in the first match of the season. Chavez was still positive after that match though, claiming that Tottenham only won because they lost Tarkowski to a red card early in the match. An even bigger challenge lies ahead for Wimbledon though. The draw for the Round of 16 in the Champions League has been completed and the match will be played in February. Wimbledon will host none other than German champions Bayern Munich in the first leg and then travel to Germany for the second. The Dons have just made it out of a difficult group and now face an even more difficult challenge.
That's all we have for you this month,
Thanks for reading!
Looks like it was a pretty good month all around. You are sitting really well in the table, and if you follow up with another solid month you could be just a point or two off of first if things go right. Interested to see how the Champions League will go for you outside of the group stages since it makes it harder to balance your player's energy with each of those games meaning so much. Also, you have a great youth academy going there!
SpoilerWith the season edging closer and closer to an end every point counts. Luton ended last month in 3rd position but only just. If they want to hold on to this position they are going to need to strengthen up at the back and the strikers need to pull there thumbs out. Along with the end of the season comes the closing of the FA Cup with only a few match to go until the final and some tough teams to face against.
September 2015Spoiler
LC: Gillingham 0-1 West Brom
52 Ideye
Xabi Alonso makes his debut for West Bromwich Albion at the base of a five-man midfield, with the visitors looking to expend as little energy as possible prior to the match against Newcastle. Brown Ideye nets shortly after halftime for the only goal of the game.
PL: Newcastle 1-3 West Brom
27 Santon
31 Anichebe
40 Fofana
74 Sissoko
82 Anichebe
A second yellow is shown to Davide Santon not 30 minutes into the game. Victor Anichebe scores his sixth and seventh goals of the season, and Gueida Fofana also gets in on the action, but Moussa Sissoko's goal turns out to be nothing but a minor consolation.
PL: West Brom 2-0 Aston Villa
65 Anichebe
90 Sako
The heated rivalry continues as West Bromwich Albion come out ahead of Aston Villa for the third consecutive league fixture, keeping a clean sheet in the process as Victor Anichebe's opener makes it eight goals in five games for the Nigerian.
LC: West Brom 2-3 Everton13 Lukaku
69 Ideye
82 Berahino
85 Barkley
98 Yacob
There was no joy to be had as West Bromwich Albion were knocked out of the Capital One Cup. Romelu Lukaku opened the scoring with a fine chip, while Brown Ideye and Saido Berahino scored late to seemingly give the home side the win. Ross Barkley sent the game into extra time, and late substitute Claudio Yacob scored (and celebrated) the winner to a chorus of boos from his former club.
PL: Arsenal 2-1 West Brom35 Sessegnon
78 Ramsey
84 Welbeck
Arsenal came out the gates looking to disrupt West Bromwich Albion's passing game, and it took all of the first half before the visitors found any semblance of rhythm. Stephane Sessegnon managed to net the opener during that chaos, but Aaron Ramsey and Danny Welbeck score late to snatch three points and end the Baggies' unbeaten league record.
Press Conference
Arsene Wenger has said that you use negative tactics. Do you agree with him?
I don't know why Arsene is complaining. It was obvious from the first minute that he'd sent the team out to be physical beyond acceptable levels. You had three Arsenal players booked in the first half alone, and one of their defenders got away with a professional foul with not even a booking.
You had the game up until Aaron Ramsey scored, and then it felt like you kind of lost your footing.
I'd like to think that we conceded that goal because of fatigue, and that I should have made a substitution a few minutes earlier. That's the rosy version, but I have a hunch there's more to it than that. Even after they equalised, we really should have seen the game out to a 1-1, so it's gutting to have lost.
Do you think Danny Welbeck was offside when he scored?
No, I don't think so, but he surely was offside when he received the ball. One last question, please.
Would you say you still had a good month of football?
It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. You never want to get knocked out of a competition, especially in the way it did against Everton, but that's football. The upside to that is we can focus on our league matches until January, when we'll try to put together a good run in the FA Cup. In the league, I think we did very well to beat Newcastle and Aston Villa, but it's still early in the season.
Transfer Watch
This week on the latest episode of Transfer Watch, we look at some of the players who've been linked with West Bromwich Albion, who play in the Barclays Premier League. The Baggies, as they're known, are enjoying a wonderful resurgence. After escaping relegation by the skin of their teeth in 2013-14, just three points ahead of the first team to make the drop, the West Midlands side employed maverick coach Indi Blue. He led them to a top-half finish and the Capital One Cup final, where they lost to Tottenham 2-1.
This year, West Brom had arguably the best summer transfer window of any non-elite Premier League side. After recouping close to £20 million in player sales, the club brought in a wealth of talent. They capped off their dealings with a marquee signing on deadline day, acquiring Xabi Alonso from Bayern Munich for a token figure. The Baggies are playing some of the best football in the club's recent history, having won 13 points from 6 matches, only dropping any against elite teams Manchester City and Arsenal.
Victor Anichebe has found the form of his life to score 8 goals, five more than his nearest competitor Wayne Rooney. Bolstered by Xabi Alonso's passing in midfield, West Brom have employed a game that focuses on short passing and rapid transitions, playing some of the league's most eye-catching football and winning the support of neutrals. But as with any side, there is still room for improvement. Indi is far from having put together his final team, the one that will challenge for elite silverware – the league title and the Champions League.
Let's take a look at the players who could find themselves at West Brom in the coming years. Interestingly, all of them are either English or British, and reflect Indi's emphasis on turning homegrown talents into world-class players.
Fraser Forster currently plays for Southampton, but depending on where the Hampshire side finish at the end of this season, he could be willing to make a move to West Brom. The hulking Northumbrian is everything Indi values in a goalkeeper – tall, strong, imposing, and excellent at handling the ball. If the Baggies can offer him the prospect of European competition, whether the Champions League or Europa League, it could prove to be an incentive too strong to resist for a goalkeeper who was playing in Europe's top competition as recently as the 2013-14 season. West Brom would also need to stump up a good chunk of change for Forster, with the Englishman's development going faster than expected.
He might already be competing for a starting spot with defenders as talented as Neven Subotic and Steven Caulker, but Gary Cahill remains a vital member of Chelsea's first team.
Set to turn 30 in a few months, the Sheffield lad could find himself seeking a new challenge, especially if it turns out that his current club decides to buy yet another centre half to replace John Terry, who is set to retire at the end of the season. If all goes according to plan, Cahill could be part of yet another title-winning defence, and his presence alone would add strength and morale to a back four that can sometimes be fragile under pressure.
Leeds United's marauding wing back Sam Byram is the ideal backup to and replacement for Cristian Gamboa, but he can also play as a forward on the wings when required. The Essex lad could be available for a relatively low price, given his age and the league he plays in, but would have a tough time ahead of him displacing the current right back while adapting to the top flight. Indi is thought to be particularly keen on this transfer, as Byram is known to be one of the hardest-working defenders in English football's four divisions.
The first of three targets currently at Sunderland, Jack Rodwell is developing into an all-rounded central midfielder. Able to pass the ball well and under pressure, he has come a long way from his days at Everton. Rodwell's defensive ability means that he would be an ideal replacement if Youssouf Mulumbu decides to move on before Xabi Alonso calls time on his playing career, though his price is likely to be quite steep as he's recently become an integral part of the England national team. Nonetheless, it would be money well spent.
One of Indi's favourite players in English football, Will Buckley is far more talented than he's rated to be. Adept at finishing as well as creating, the Oldham native would be a great replacement for Stephane Sessegnon. Signing him would give Indi tremendous depth on the wings, with Nathan Redmond and Bakary Sako already fighting for permanent berths in the possession-based 4-3-3. Buckley joining the ranks would only give Indi an even strong team, with two of the three starting, and the third able to come on as a late impact substitute.
Big, strong, tall, fast, prolific, selfless, and skilled with the ball in the air or at his feet – Connor Wickham has a skill set that any manager would desire. He has all the tools needed to develop into a complete striker, but he's also adept at playing as a wide forward when asked to. The man mountain of a player would be an excellent replacement signing if the club feels the need to sell Brown Ideye, but it's not likely that he will join until the summer of 2016. Even then, West Brom are looking at a considerable outlay, with Gus Poyet unlikely to be ready to part with his prize forward for anything short of a small fortune.
Should it turn out that Sunderland are unwilling to sell multiple key players, and that is a very likely scenario, West Brom could look into signing Scotland and Derby County winger Johnny Russell. The pacey forward can play out wide or through the middle, and could be had for considerably less than either Buckley or Wickham, though Indi is thought to be especially keen on signing the latter. However, the signing of any winger would be dependent on whether Indi offers Saido Berahino the chance to stake a claim to that slot.Love the detail you have on your updates. The transfer watch section was a great read, and you have a lot of great targets in there. Can't wait to see what you end up doing.
FIFA 15Spoiler
Match 1
Coventry 1-0 Leyton Orient
Jackson 73
You're first match ended in a win. How was that?
Amazing, Leyton Orient are an excellent team who reached the play off final last year. Simeon proved he deserves a place in the starting 11 with that amazing curling effort into the bottom corner. I knew he had pace for our training but that was unreal.
But he's Canadian. Doesn't that go against your policy?
Oh, for God's sake. If in every interview this will get brought up, I might as well not do them. I specifically said this won't affect Reda, Simeon and Mohamed.
Capital One Cup Round 1
Preston 1-0 Coventry
Welsh 23
That wasn't the result you were looking for?
No not at all. Welsh slot in and I have to credit the guy, it was a good finish but he should have been closed down. However I will look on the bright side. Less fixtures. With the JP Trophy, FA Cup and the 46 league fixtures, we have enough matches as it is.
Thomas 90
A second league win of the season and a second clean sheet. You must be delighted.
Very. Doncaster were in the Championship last season, so to come away with 3 points away from home is delightful. Reda proved he should be captain with that stunning effort, the corner wasn't the best but nor was the clearance and Reda hit that volley into the roof of the net like a world class striker. And then Conor headed in over the keeper, a lobbed header, it was perfect.
Match 3
Coventry 2-0 Bradford
Tudgay 52
Tudgay 76
You played a reserve team today. Was that a sign of disrespect toward your opponent?
Of course not, it was a sign of fatigue. It is the middle of the week, with a tough game against Peterborough at the weekend. And it paid off didn't it. Tudgay curled in twice and he really is putting in the effort to get a starting spot.
Match 4
Coventry 2-1 Peterborough
Nouble 5
Pugh 40
Mendez-Laing 78
Another brilliant win, that's 4 wins from 4 but you did concede for the first time this season.
Yes an incredible win. Nouble capitalised on the defenders mistake to chip the keeper and Pugh, up in the attack smashed in from the edge of the box. Both show the attacking work we have been putting in on the training ground. Unfortunately, a simple mistake allowed them to get one back.
J. Paint Trophy
Coventry 2-0 Colchester
Tudgay 14
Tudgay 19
Your first JP Trophy match, and another win for your reserves. Tudgay is especially standing out.
Yes I am very pleased. Of course it does mean more fixtures but it would be nice to compete for the silverware. I mean, this hopefully will be the only season we compete in it, so to win it would be great. As for Tudgay, he has been impressive and is under consideration for the first team.
Match 5
Rochdale 1-3 Coventry
Jackson 40
Jackson 45
Jackson 61
Fenlon 82
Another win. 15 points now. And Simeon Jackson grabbed himself the match ball.
Simeon was simply incredible. His first was a diving header at the far post that took bravery and awareness. His second a smashing in to the roof of the net from a low ball that was brilliant and the third another display of his unbelievable pace. Obviously I'm disappointed we couldn't get a clean sheet but Rochdale deserved a couple.
Really pleased with this result my plan to flood the midfield and get about Inter worked perfectly. I dominated the midfield and deserved the lead when Nocerino smashed the ball into the top corner from 12 yards. Another good away performance. Both goals coming once again coming from Rafinha and Quagliarella. After taking an early lead it was a pretty even contest. We secured all 3 points a minute from time when we caught them on the break from a corner.
Q. That was quite a busy month for you with your debuts in the Champions League and for the Austrian National team. what are your thoughts?
A. Its been a great month for Stoke City and Austria. Firstly for Austria as we have secured Qualification for next years European Championships. Secondly for Stoke as we are still in the cup, we picked up maximum points in our league fixtures and we picked up two great away points against world class opposition in the Champions League. The whole club should be proud.
Q. There has been much more chopping and changing your line ups this year, does this mean that you don't know your best 11 yet?
A. Not at all, this year we have a busier schedule so we don't have a best 11 so to say, players will be picked on form and what the game calls for so there will be more changes each game than last year.
Q. Was it awkward meeting up with want away player Marko Arnautovic in the international matches?
A. Not at all, we are both professionals and whilst I didn't agree with the reasons on why marko left us, he is still a quality player and an important one for Austria. If he's in form he will be played.
Q. Andre Ayew has struggled so far this season whereas Redmond has been in great form. Is Redmond now your number 1 left midfielder?
A. Whilst its true Nathan has been in good form, Andre is a quality player as is Nathan and as I said before I will pick the best team that I require for each game. Thank you.
Transfers In
Samed Yesil
64 Ovr, Striker, 20 Years Old, Germany
€400,000
Hertha BSC's cheapest signing of the summer was buying Samed Yesil for under half million euros from Liverpool. The young German striker is a player for the future and he isn't expected to get much playing time this season with Salomon Kalou and Julian Schieber ahead in the playing order.
Leonardo Bittencourt
75 Ovr, Left Midfielder, 21 Years Old, Germany
€2,500,000 + Ben-Hatira
The second-cheapest arrival of the summer for Hertha was bringing in the talented German winger Leonardo Bittencourt from Hannover 96. The young player arrived for a fee of €2,5 million and the deal saw Änis Ben-Hatira going the other way to Hannover. Bittencourt is fast and good at dribbling and he is a talented player. Ganchev will probably use him as a substitute.
Julian Korb
70 Ovr, Right Back, 22 Years Old, Germany
€3,200,000 + Marcel Ndjeng
"Julian Who?" and "Three Million For Nothing" were just few headlines we saw in the newspapers after Hertha BSC announced the signing of Julian Korb. The young German right back isn't the fastest or the greatest player but the manager believes he has talent and he will be able to replace Peter Pekarik after few seasons. Korb played for Borussia Mönchengladbach before moving to Berlin where he made his breakthrough last season. According to Ganchev, there is no pressure on the defender and he has nothing to worry about.
Jean-Christophe Bahebeck
70 Ovr, Striker, 21 Years Old, France
€4,000,000
Hertha continued their youngster-recruiting ways with the arrival of Jean-Christophe Bahebeck from Paris Saint-Germain for an expensive price of four million euros. The fast French youngster played for PSG since 2011 but he was loaned out every season. Bahebeck will probably be a third-choice striker who will get to play in the cup.
Fabian Schär
75 Ovr, Centre Back, 23 Years Old, Switzerland
€5,200,000
The most expensive arrival of Hertha of the transfer window was Fabian Schär from Basel. The young centre back played an important role in the defence of his team and he was part of Switzerland's national team in the World Cup. The Swiss defender had a year left of his contract and Basel were happy to sell him for five million. A lot of clubs tried to buy Schär but he chose to join Hertha.
You got an average start to the league season with a win and a loss. How do you feel about that?
I think it's okay. Leverkusen are a great team and we got unlucky against them which cost us the points. Against Bremen we were dominating them and we showed our quality. We need to work on few things but I'm happy with our results.
You are 12th in the league after two games. Can you climb to the top?
Can we get to the top half of the table?! What kind of question is that?! We are two games into the season and three points behind first place. Of course we can do it!
You bought a couple players in the transfer window. Why did you buy them?
Mainly for squad depth and to improve our team. Bahebeck, Bittencourt and Schär will get playing time but they aren't first choices. Every one of them is a talented player and they bring quality to the side. Samed Yesil was cheap and his a player with a bright future ahead of him. Julian Korb was brought in to replace Ndjeng as our substitute right back and he will play when Peter Pekarik is tired.
Do you feel like you overpayed for the players?
For what they are right now, yes. But in the future they will become really good players and then they will show that they were worth the money. Like I said when I got appointed we are focusing on young talent.
SpoilerLooks like it was a pretty good month all around. You are sitting really well in the table, and if you follow up with another solid month you could be just a point or two off of first if things go right. Interested to see how the Champions League will go for you outside of the group stages since it makes it harder to balance your player's energy with each of those games meaning so much. Also, you have a great youth academy going there!
Some mixed results in league play, but you are still right in it with a good shot at 2nd. Finish the season strong and you shouldn't have to worry about anything.
Oh and great job on making the F.A. Cup Semi-Finals! I'm sure this run has gone a long way in terms of transfer funds for you.
SpoilerLove the detail you have on your updates. The transfer watch section was a great read, and you have a lot of great targets in there. Can't wait to see what you end up doing.
That is certainly one tough Champions League group you've got there. But still, the fact that you have Stoke there just proves that you belong, so I'm sure you will do just fine even with those giant clubs in there with you.
[/center]
Thanks, I've been saving up all the funds and I've bought a 3 star scout and sent him along with two 1 star scouts right back out again. Pretty much used it all up but I think it will be worth it.Comment
You played some good games in the last month which lead to you climbing to fourth. How do you feel about your results?
I think they were amazing in the last month. We played really well, scored a lot of goals and beat Wolfsburg, who are a top team. Sadly we lost to Freiburg away but the month was still nice and I'm happy with what we have been doing.
You are unbeaten at home but you have lost some points away. Can you improve that?
You are correct about us not being great away but you can't expect us to win every game. To reflect on our poor playing in some games we also have had convinsing victories. The season is long and we have time to improve our weaker points.
Salomon Kalou is on fire with seven goals in the league. Can he keep it up?
I don't know but I hope so. Sometimes you score a lot and sometimes you can't score at all. Salomon has done a great job for us and he's playing really well. It's good that he has adapted well.
Last question. There are rumours about you taking international jobs. Is that true?
No, it's not. I'm fully focused on Hertha and I haven't thought for a second about working with a national team. Hertha is everything I care about right now.
Figured I'd comment on both of your updates here rather than quoting both.
Nice transfers, you've made a good combination of signings that will help you now, and pay off what you invested in them for years to come as well.
Good to see you get some good results even with dropping a few points here and there. I'm really excited that you decided to bring back Hertha since that is what I most associate with you since you got so into that career and built up the character of Ganchev so well.
Also glad to see that you enjoyed my player of the month section! Was just something I thought of last second as I was posting my first update for Exeter. It's a simple thing to add, and I'm glad to see someone liked it.Comment
Actually I decided while doing my FIFA 14 career with Hertha that I would do it again on 15 so the decision was planned. I don't really know about 'building up the character'-part, I feel like I need to add depth somehow but good to see you're enjoying it.
I agree about the player of the month, it's a simple thing but it adds a lot to the update.-Simppu12-
