Ok thanks for the advice, I've signed 3 or 4 players back on loan from last season and got a pre-contract too, I'll put the rest into the Acadamy.

That budget. Welcome to one of the many struggles in lower leagues! Like rabbit said a youth academy is vital. Also transfer list any player that you don't use or try using them in a player swap deal

Know what I hated the most? When I first began the Wimbledon career and over half of the squad had 'recently joined the club' so I couldn't offer them in player swap deals OR transfer list them -_-

                    AD Alcorcon - '19-'20 Season
                    February-March Update

                    Spoiler

                    FEB
                    League Match 22
Real Zaragoza - AD Alcorcon (2-4)
                    Rondon 9'
                    Rondon 45'

                    Cabrero Mora 47'
                    Barrera 75'
                    Rondon 84'

                    Tarsi 90'

Recap: the soon-to-be-retired Rondon led the B team to a victory by showing everyone he's still got it (why is he retiring?). I've probably scored more hat-tricks with him than with anyone else in this game. He was a beast.

Copa Del Rey- Semi Finals, 2nd Leg
Villareal CF - AD Alcorcon (1-3, 1-4 agg)
                    Gabriel 24'
                    Correa 60'
                    Lopez 67'
                    Lopez 90' (P)

Recap: after a challenging first half we finally got on the board 15 minutes into the second half, achieving what Villareal was not able to do (score on the road). Once Nicolas Lopez scored his first goal as an Alfarero the faith of this game was all but sealed yet our continuing attack rewarded us with a PK late in the game which Lopez put away for the dagger. AD Alcorcon is going back to the Copa Del Rey final after winning the trophy last season! Our opponent? The same as last season - Barca.

                    League Match 23
Alcorcon AD - Sevilla FC (2-3)
                    Hernandez 6'
                    Rondon 45'
                    Gnabry 60'

                    Stevanovic 66'
                    Elm 89'

Recap: with a very important game just two days later we had to put our faith back on the B team who played a hell of a match but suffered an unfortunate loss to one of the top teams in the league. It was definitely a seesaw battle that we would rather not experience again, culminating with a heartbreaking goal near the end of the game to keep us from getting any points out of this match.

                    CL - Round of 16, 1st Leg
                    AD Alcorcon - Inter (1-2)
                    Duricic 5'
                    Correa 15'
                    Neymar 49'

Recap: that early goal by Duricic seemed like it'd be tough to overcome but Correa evened it up not soon after. Another early goal in the second half not only cost us the game but also put us in a difficult position heading into the 2nd leg. The positive was that we were definitely the better team in this game and actually had more shots and shots on goal, so that gave us some confidence.

                    League Match 24
AD Alcorcon - Real Sociedad (2-1)
                    Jo 41'
                    Hiljemark 45'
                    Lopez 83'

Recap: Nico Lopez once again the right man at the right time and his signing is paying for itself at this point. BIG win for us.

                    League Match 25
AD Alcorcon - RCD Mallorca (2-2)
                    Farago 36'
                    Ximo 64'
                    Lopez 66'
                    Grosicki 82'

Recap: very frustrating draw against a team with thoroughly outplayed throughout this game. We can't afford to lose out on points against teams like Mallorca!

                    MAR
                    League Match 26
Getafe CF - AD Alcorcon (1-3)
                    Johansen 5'
                    Barrera 29' (P)
                    Morientes 40'
                    Gnabry 57'

Recap: Gnabry led the B team to an important victory with an excellent game, assisting in Morientes' goal and disrupting the wings with his speed. A performance much needed with the next game just 3 days away.

                    League Match 27
AD Alcorcon - FC Barcelona (2-2)
                    Messi 7'
                    Miguel 11'
                    Cristian Tello 42'
                    Lopez 45'

Recap: don't ask me why but we were very confident coming into this game although Messi quickly brought us back down to earth. However, Miguel brought us right back into the game with a bullet from the left side of the box that Courtois had not shot against, then Lopez once again kept us afloat just a few minutes aftet Tello had put Barca ahead. The second half was very even and we definitely matched Barca's game step by step so I was very proud of my guys' effort in this one.

                    CL - Round of 16, 2nd Leg
                    Inter - AD Alcorcon (1-3, 3-4 agg)
                    Neymar 40'
                    Miguel 53'
                    Miguel 69'
                    Lopez 79'

Recap: Going into this game we knew we had to score two goals so Neymar's goal didn't change anything for us. Miguel, who was one of the first kids I promoted right away when I first came to the club and was in desperate need for bodies, had the game of his life scoring the two goals that we desperately needed, then Lopez once again put the dagger on the opponent by scoring not only the goal that was giving us the lead in the aggregate score but also the one that would put the pressure on Inter to score two goals (and not give up any more) with just over 10 minutes left. And our Cinderella story continues as we advance to Champions League quarter finals in the club's first ever trip to this competition!

                    League Match 28
Valencia CF - AD Alcorcon (0-1)
                    Lopez 19'

Recap: Nico Lopez has that clutch gene right now, scoring huge goals for us. This was a BIG win too against one of the top teams in the league, much needed after dropping points in easier contests.

                    League Match 28
AD Alcorcon - Malaga CF (2-3)
                    Rondon 35'
                    Beister 51' (P)
                    Knoll 57'
                    Portillo 59'
                    Juanmi 66'

Recap: see what I mean? Malaga is near the bottom of the league and we had no business losing this game but the B team wasn't able to hold off a visiting team that wouldn't stop putting pressure on us and as such we missed a big opportunity to make towards the elite places in the league.

CL - Quarter Finals, 1st Leg
Manchester City - AD Alcorcon (1-2)
                    De Jong 8'
                    Januzaj 44'
                    Miguel 75'

Recap: you get bonus points if you can figure out why this matchup is personal for me. Yes, MCFC is where Zeshin Yamura was sold to this past transfer window. He's making twice what what he was making with us but is a sub instead of a starter like he was for us. He came in for the last 15 minutes of the games and I must admit it sucked to see him wearing a different jersey. As for the game itself, it was scary at first when De Jong scored so early and then we went into halftime down 2-0 but we clamped down and Miguel put a rebound from a shot by Salawu at the back of the net for a very crucial goal once we head into the 2nd leg. A good result even in a loss.

                    Liga BBVA Standings
                    1. FC Barcelona - 73pts
                    2. Real Madrid - 64pts
                    3. Sevilla FC - 57pts
                    4. Valencia CF - 55pts
                    5. Athletic Bilbao - 54pts
                    6. Atletico Madrid - 51pts

                    7. AD Alcorcon - 47pts
                    ...
                    18. Elche CF - 18pts
                    19. Levante UD - 17pts
                    20. RM Castilla - 14pts

Our situation in La Liga is getting trickier. The board expects us to qualify for Champions League but we're still 12 points out with 30 points left on the board. Qualifying for Europa League may be a more realistic goal at this point but I'm not giving up. Obviously spreading my roster to remain competitive in three different competitions has exposed my depth which needs to be addressed in upcoming transfer windows. Still, I feel like I'm having a hell of a season after booking my return to the Copa Del Rey final and being among the top 8 teams in Europe with a realistic chance to be in the top 4. These final two months are going to be exciting as hell. In April I face RM Castilla, Espanyol, Deportivo, Bilbao, and Rayo Vallecano in league planning to play my top guys in every game but against Castilla since the 2nd leg vs MCFC is 3 days later and the possibility of ovetime/PK's is always something that needs to be accounted for. Then again if I get past Yamura's new squad there's a chance one of the semi final games will be scheduled somewhere within the full week off I get after the Bilbao game so we'll see how that goes. Elsewhere in CL quarter finals Real Madrid has a 3-0 lead on Arsenal, Barca has a 3-0 lead on Lyon, and Chelsea has a 2-1 lead on Marseille.

The academy is all about tracking player development at the moment though one of the youngsters was promoted at his request. Here's our youth squad:
                    • Javier Marquez (CB, 60-64 OVR, 86-92 POT): 17-year old from Venezuela with good size (6'2") for his position. His development in the academy is pretty much complete but we're hoping to get him an extra boost towards the end of the season, then promote him.
                    • Victor Jimenez (CM, 48-50, 86-92): 16-year old from Spain described as an attacker. We're hoping to develop him into a complete midfielder.
                    • Damian Silva (CM, 53-57, 84-90): 16-year old from Spain described as a playmaker. Good potential with the stamina of a starter.
                    • Victor Velazquez (CAM, 53-57, 83-89): 15-year old from Spain who reminds us of a young Leandro Paredes or Angel Correa. We have high hopes for him.
                    • Johnny Wilson (CF, 49-51, 74-80):15-year old from England who surprisingly has settled in as a forward. We're hoping he grows a bit as he's only 5'7" at the moment.
                    • Julio Gutierrez (LW, 51-55, 73-79): 15-year old from Spain who brings speed to the pitch. He's settled at LW which is a great fit for him.
                    • Victor Jimenez (CM, 53-57, 74-80): 16-year old from Venezuela who is a defensive-minded midfielder. He needs to remain in the academy for now.
                    • Juan Nuñez (LM, 51-55, 72-78): 16-year old from Ecuador who was signed to the academy towards the end of last season. He's technically gifted but we don't need to rush him to the senior squad right now.
                    • Jomar Mayat (LW, 53-57, 72-76): 17-year old from Cameroon who will be more of a striker than a winger as his speed is very limited. Ideally he'd stay in the academy all season.
                    • Francisco Miguel (CF, 47-51, 71-75): 15-year old from Spain who is now settled at a position. Described as technically gifted.
                    • Damon Elliot (CF, 47-51, 70-74): 16-year old from England who projects as a speedy attacker.

                    * Denotes recent addition to the academy.

Hallam Campbell (LM, 62 OVR, Has Potential To Be Special) was promoted to the senior squad at his request. He has great potential and we hope to send him out on loan starting next season to fast-track his development.

                    Here is my current roster:

                    Spoiler

                    International Friendlies
                    FEB
                    United States - Germany (2-2)

                    Gatt 7'
                    Schurrle 22'
                    Zardes 41'
                    Draxler 82'

Recap: I was looking forward to this game as a challenge and it didn't disappoint. Although I'm sure Germany was missing some of their key guys even some of their B teams are some of the best players in the world. We were up to task and took the lead in two separate occasions but were unable to contain a tenacious German attack.

                    Colombia - United States (2-2)
                    Borja 3'
                    Silva 9'
                    Borja 32'
                    Zardes 58'

Recap: You'd think we'd be able to handle Colombia after a great showing vs Germany but Colombia had other plans. Gyasi Zardes has pretty much solidified himself as my best striker.

                    MAR
                    United States - France (3-1)

                    Gil 40'

                    Zardes 77'

                    Veretout 90'

Recap: An absolute demolition of a French team that may have been missing some of their main stars. We were in charge of this one from beginning to end.

                    Wales - United States (1-0)
                    Dummett 53'

Recap: I must say that Wales truly earned my respect. Even though I was playing the B team against them they definitely seemed talented and determined, with a very stingy defense. A deserved victory for them, and a lesson learned for me to not take them lightly in the future.

                    That's all for now!

I had the something similar in my Arsenal career I just started tonight. I was looking to add a striker and hate Welbeck. So I set one of my instructions to ST with free kick specialty, aerial threat and first team quality. I got back Cavani. So I enquired what PSG wanted for him and they came back at 55MM. So I tried to haggle with them and they wouldn't budge which I understand. So I saw Welbeck had a decent value so I figured I would throw him in and knock down the amount of money I had to pay for Cavani and I couldn't do it. So I ended using a financial takeover (semi by mistake) and spent the 55 for him. Also got killed in the community shield 6-1 against City. Aguero had like 3 or 4 goals. He was later sold to Real Madrid for 87MM. Courtois went to Juventus for 41.5, Pogba to Atletico for 27. And Javi Martinez to City for 41. And Clint Dempsey went to Udinese for 19MM, which shocks me.

Also I need 1 "stop gap" option at CB because I hate Mertesacker and I have a couple of young nasty looking CB's in my academy one via scout a future star and one of my scouts found. So who should I target? As of right now I have around 57MM in funds to spend.

Yamura the heartbreaker. Hurt me just to read about it. Good to know he's only making the bench over there. That should teach him! And what's the deal with Rondon? Shouldn't he barely be in his early 30s? Damn it EA -_-

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

There's lots to catch up and comment on, so I'll do that before posting my next update.

First of all, I got my PS3 back in perfect working condition. I've started with Sampdoria again because I really enjoyed playing with them, though I am now without my 86-96 potential Italian centre back.

@Keano: That is an atrocious budget. Might I recommend using some Scout Future Star options to tide you over? Remember not to redeem several at once if you do.

@Moose: How do you find gameplay since your slider changes? I had to struggle to come up with a set I enjoy. It took me about 100 games, but I've finally come to something that lets me enjoy World Class without wanting to kill things. Legendary is too full of gimmicks this year.

@Rabbit: Nice job beating Inter in the Champions League. I utterly despise them, so it's great to see them go down to a manager I can support! You might just sneak that Champions League spot. I've seen it done before, and it looks like you're set up to end the season well. And you're right, we put the NG thread to shame. Their only good discussion is on Orion's sliders thread.

@Jamie: You're killing it with Liverpool. Lallana is on fire at the moment. It must sorely pain you to be doing so well with them in the game while IRL... you get my point.

Yeah, it kind of does. Lallana is playing really well and to be honest I wasn't expecting it. Possibly the man who appeals to me the least in the team but is on fire, doing what Modric should be doing.

Qualify for Euro League | Coppa Italia: R16
                              July/August

                              Friendly: Sampdoria 2-1 Málaga
                              17' Tissone
                              22' Okaka
                              84' Okaka

Recap: Despite conceding the first goal, we managed to come back with an equaliser within five minutes. We then bossed possession, penetrating their defence but failing to finish any of our chances. It was Okaka's diving header right at the end of the match that guaranteed the win. Fitness is obviously low, but that will improve.

                              Friendly: Crystal Palace 0-0 Sampdoria

Speroni had a fantastic game. He kept us out of the net almost entirely by himself, as we registered 11 of our 19 shots on target. At the other end, Palace had a couple of very good chances themselves, though they were not able to create nearly as many opportunities as we did. Bolasie was the key outfield player for the English side.

                              Friendly: Sampdoria 2-1 Valencia
                              49' De Silvestri
                              65' Đorđevic
                              71' Negredo

After a scoreless first half, we were presented with a potential chance when we won a free kick just outside the Valencia box. De Silvestri was chosen because of his right foot, and he scored with a curling effort that shocked even me. It was a sublime effort that Pirlo would be proud of. Our young Montenegrin loanee Đorđević then grabbed the second, but Negredo muscled his way through and ruined our clean sheet.

                              TIM Cup: Sampdoria 1-0 Latina
                              86' Đorđevic

We began the season very well, dispatching our first cup opposition with a tidy 1-0 win at home. The stadium was buzzing, and second-division side Latina gave us a fight. In the end, it was Đorđević who latched onto a through ball from Obiang to prevent us from having to play extra time in our first competitive match.

                              Serie A: Palermo 0-4 Sampdoria
                              16' Gabbiadini
                              36' Sansone
                              65' Gabbiadini
                              88' Đorđevic

Our first league match of the season was away to the Sicilians, and we came away with feelings of pride and joy. Gabbiadini opened the scoring with a free kick that hit the crossbar on its way in, while Sansone scored from the spot after being fouled in the box, which resulted in a second yellow for their man. We took advantage of that in the second half to win 4-0 away from home and go top of the table after one round.

Inaugural awards go to Sampdoria duo
Manolo Gabbiadini has won the first Player of the Month award for two goals and an assist against Palermo, and his manager Indi Blue has been named Manager of the Month for guiding Sampdoria to the top of Serie A, albeit after one round of fixtures.

                              Deadline day across Europe

PSG's pursuit of Sami Khedira has failed after he refused their advances.
Winston Reid has been signed by Sampdoria from West Ham for €3.5 million.
                              • Asmir Begovic has moved to Roma for €14 million after requesting a transfer.

                              Key Points
                              • I'm employing an attacking 4-4-1-1 formation, with Gabbiadini and Sansone as attacking wide midfielders. Up top, we have
Éder playing just behind Okaka. I think I have three future world-class players on my hands in Gabbiadini, Okaka and Obiang.

                              • The only major addition required was a third centre back, as I don't rate Silvestre very highly. Reid was signed because I know he will develop into a top defender, and he was available on the cheap since his contract was due to expire in 2015.

                              • I find the 4-4-2 and its variants to be the best formations in this year's edition. The game favours two-striker formations, and I prefer a back four. I haven't yet tested the 4-2-2-2, but I will use that at some point this season when the goals dry up.

                              • Long-term, we are looking to help restore Italian football to its former glory. The first goal is to reach a European final within three seasons, but we want to do so while contributing to the Italian national team. Our transfer targets reflect this.

                              • Our primary target is Domenico Berardi, who is on loan at Sassuolo and unavailable until 2015. Even then, we'll have to pay Juventus a huge sum to get him, but it will be worth it. He has incredible attacking stats, making him an ideal winger or forward.

                              • Several talented Italians are due to be free agents in the summer, and I have €5.5 million in the bank ready to be converted into wages. However, I am limiting my Bosman signings to just two players under 80 overall, or one at 80 or above. Among the names on the shortlist are Atalanta midfield general Luca Cigarini, Parma goalkeeper Antonio Mirante, and Lazio defensive midfielder Cristian Ledesma.

And it's bloody crashed again! This time I took the console into the Sony shop where I bought the parts, and it seems the product itself is faulty. Thankfully, the kind folks at the store were willing to refund me for the laser I bought yesterday. They even gave me a nice deal on a PS4, which I have just unboxed and set up. I'll be doing a new career, since I can't be bothered to do Sampdoria a third time.
