How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going? - Operation Sports Forums

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you all know OS now has an official Discord that you can join right now. We’ve kicked around Discords for individual games in the past, but it felt like the right time to make it more of an official thing.

Steve and I have wanted to get this going for a bit because we obviously still hear from y’all who are unhappy with some stuff on the forums, plus when there are forum outages we still want to have a place for everyone to hang. My overarching goal for the longer term is to have both Discord and the forums ultimately work together. There are some logistical issues with the vBulletin forums that don’t allow things to sync right with Discord so there will be a little maneuvering as we try to get mods and forum members any proper roles/tags they need on the Discord, but we can work through that stuff easily enough as people join.

Our general goal is to give people more options to interact with OS community members, whether that’s Discord, the forums, this newsletter, or improved apps. If people want to stick more to the forums, that’s cool. If people want to stick more to the Discord, that’s also cool. In my perfect world, we do a lot of BSing and day-to-day chatting on the Discord about games and sports, and then more of the “in-depth” discussions or hefty things like long slider breakdowns or analysis of gameplay end up on the forums so that can act as a sort of “best of” area for anything OS community related. That said, you all will ultimately shape how the ecosystem shakes out, I just want to give you spaces you like so you can have a good time with other folks in the community.

The same general rules will apply on the Discord as they do on the forums, and we’ve brought most of the forum categories to the Discord as well so there should not be too much confusion as you navigate around.

With the Operation Sports and Discord announcement now out there, it’s also worth mentioning our OS premium newsletter, which quietly launched a couple of weeks ago. Built off the Not Just Another Roster Update newsletter, it offers a mix of retrospectives, guides, interviews and deeper dives into the sports gaming world—covering both current and classic titles.

What can you do? No number of regressive trade laws will keep me from my beloved career mode. Thankfully, the money isn't an issue for me, but there are tons of potential gamers being priced out of entertainment.

Ok, so after Dunne got injured in preseason is out for 7 months, I'm in need of a LB. Laing is a CB but can play LB and Wood is a LM and can also play there. Ideally though I'd prefer to get a natural LB in. Preferably on loan as I don't have much funds. (The funds I do have, around 120k, I want to use on the Youth Academy, probably on another better scout as the one I had is only 1* 1* )
I also want a another RB as cover for McCoy, last season I had Nick Arnold on loan from Reading. I tried to get him again this year but because I'm a rival they won't loan him to me.

Anyone got any good suggestions? I think I'm ok in other areas at the minute.

Look for players in League 1 and League 2. Their wages should be only $750, while I'm sure the player you had loaned from Reading had wages in the $3000 area. I have a LB named Tom Richards, short and speedy, who I'm sure you can pick up on loan. Shoot AFC Wimbledon an offer!

Interesting... Very interesting... You're on '14 right? Try Fenlon. AFC Wimbledon LB full name is Jim Fenlon.

EDIT: Are you using the default '14 squads or updated squads?

Ah okay that's why. Richards is a Wimbledon youth player that was promoted so he didn't get added to the game until one of the later updates. Fenlon was pretty good too you can try getting him on loan. If not then keep checking the rest of League 1 and 2 all the wages are low there

The mystery is solved! I'll have a crack at it. Will hunt for RBs in League 1 and 2 while I'm at it too.

Another question do you get decent funds in the Championship?

I knew we could get to the bottom of it! Haha I don't remember the exact amount, but I don't think it was a good budget. Better than the previous budgets, but the budget they give you is just enough to survive in the league, not really to shoot for promotion. I relied heavily on prize monies like the FA Cup that pays the most. When I made it to the championship I had also qualified for Europa League, so when I got through the group stage I was given about 4 million in prize money so that's what I used. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the initial budget will never be enough so do your best in the cup tournaments. The board won't give you a good budget until they have higher expectations of you.

PS: I've made a decent start to League 1!

Also signed Seth Nana Ofori-Twumasi (What a name!) a RB 57 OVR (92 ACC, 83 SPEE, 83 STA, 82 AG, 83 BAL, 82 JUMP !!!) on Loan from Yeovil Town. Got Jim Fenlon from Wimbledon on loan too. (A LB 58 OVR) Both are on £750 a week. So that has assured me a bit.

I was really scared facing Manchester City and I was prepared for a whooping. It started just like that, a quick one-two and David Silva was in. Goal, 1-0.

I kept pressuring and pressuring, yet I couldn't get over the half-way line. City was bombarding me with shots, our goalkeeper was keeping us in it. Him and the goalposts aswell.

Five minutes left to play, I play the ball to Susaeta who sprints along the line and crosses it in. Paco finds himself to it, and the ball goes over Joe Harts hand, under Yaya Toure and into the net. We had tied the game up.

After that I went "Park the bus" and got the point. Obviously I wanted more, but there was no way of getting more at Etihad.

If the last game was hard, the game at Bernabeu was going to be even more difficult. It already started badly; a cross to Bale sent him 1-on-1 with the keeper, and he put it away. 2 minutes in.

It took me a while, but I pulled into it. Muniain played a great ball through to Susaeta and we tied it up. A few minutes later, and a cross to Alcacer gave us the lead. I was extatic. I went defensive, Real kept pushing it.

In my head, I thought "It's 90 minutes, I can hold it." Then, a cross came in and Sergio Ramos headed the ball, it hit the crossbar and went in.

I was like:"No, f-this. I ain't losing this." I gave the ball to Muniain, he went through the defense and scored. I threw my controller on the floor and screamed. It was fabulous.
