You generally want to use a free kick taker who will curl it away from the keeper. So left footed player on the right side of the box, and right footed on the left side of the box. I usually aim between the last two defenders on the wall to the opposite side I'm trying to place the ball. So if I want to put it inside the right post I'll aim between the last two defenders on the left side of the wall. Then you want to start your kick by pressing B, or O depending on your system and use between 1-2 bars of power. The most important part though is that as soon as you start your kick, hold your left analog stick directly up (And hold it all the way until the kick is completed). This is what will give your ball the dip needed to get over the wall and then back down in time to go into the net.

      FIFA 15 | PS3 | Season 3 | 2016-17

      The Swans

      February 2017

      Feb 4th
      Match 24
      Southampton 0-2 Swansea

      Montero 29' (Shelvey)
      Montero 90' (Bertrand)

      MotM: Jefferson Montero

Nathan Dyer returned in the first game since he left for St. Marys. We controlled the first opening half an hour and Montero registered on the score sheet after Shelvey found his run into the space left by Gonzalez. He finished it well for another goal in his recent good run of form. Ward-Prowse then got himself a second yellow card in the 45th minute for a late challenge on Ki. Harrison Reed came on for Stephens meaning that the Saints were going to play 3 at the back with the right full back position exposed. Montero wrapped it up in the last few seconds after squeezing through the tired Southampton defence and finish past Forster for the second time.

      Feb 7th
      Match 25
      Swansea 2-1 Tottenham

      Benteke 21' (Sigurdsson)
      Sigurdsson 25'
      Paulinho 63'

      MotM: Gylfi Sigurdsson

Benteke and Caulker made their debuts in this very important match. Win this game against 4th placed Spurs and we would go up from 5th to 4th. Benteke made an instant impact with an early chance and then got his first goal for the club on 21 minutes. He and Sigurdsson combined well with the latter passing across from the right hand side of the box to the penalty spot where Benteke's first touch took it away from Fazio and lined up a shot which ended up rustling the net. Sigurdsson then scored just 4 minutes later. Redmond dispossessed Walker on the halfway line and sprinted towards the box before turning in and getting the ball into Sigurdsson who was inside a triangle of 3 Spurs defenders. He managed to get enough space to shoot low past Friedel for his 7th goal in all competitions. Paulinho pulled one back just after the hour mark after beating the offside line and firing low to the left of Scuffet. We held onto the 1 goal lead and moved up to 4th.

      Feb 11th
      Match 26
      Swansea 1-1 Stoke

      Arnautovic 39'
      Stambouli 73'

      MotM: Adrian Centurion

If not for Jack Butland we would have won this game very comfortably. The Englishman made 10 saves and the majority of them prevented clear goals. Butland and Scuffet made early saves to Benteke and Ideye before Bojan hit the post with a volley. Benteke forced another save before Arnautovic got the goal. Steven Ireland got to the end line and pulled it back across the goalmouth where the Bosnian was able to poke it in ahead of Bernat. Butland then saved 2 headers from Benteke and Centurion before he was beaten by the Frenchman Stambouli. A corner was headed out to Bernat and his touch rolled to Stambouli around the 6 yard box. Butland wasn't ready and before he knew it his net was rustling. 2 more saves followed as he denied Shelvey and Redmond a late winner.

      Feb 15th
      Match 27
      Norwich 3-4 Swansea

      Jerome 2'
      Jerome 9'
      Shelvey 12' (Pen)
      Ings 38' (Richards)
      Ings 44'
      Cañas 57' (OG)
      Shelvey 81'

      MotM: Danny Ings

2 early over the top balls for Cameron Jerome ended in 2 goals for the out of form striker. After the sluggish start by us we fought back and Ings was brought down by Martin earning a penalty which Shelvey comfortably tucked away. Ings would go on to notch 2 more goals before halftime in a 6 minute spell. The first of which was a beautifully struck shot, from a Richards pullback, into the top corner. The Canaries got an equalizer after Cañas headed into his own net. We upped the pressure after this and took control of the game but John Ruddy was outstanding in between the sticks ending the game with 9 saves. Shelvey tapped in a rebound, off an Ings effort saved by Ruddy, from a tight angle to give us a valuable 3 points as we attempt to stay ahead of 5th placed Spurs and catch the top 3 who have opened up a gap at the top.

      Feb 22nd
      Champions League
      Last 16, 1st Leg

      Swansea 3-2 Bayern

      Götze 16'
      Centurion 24' (Sigurdsson)
      Centurion 45' (Benteke)
      Muller 65' (Pen)
      Centurion 78'

      MotM: Adrian Centurion

Centurion was on fire tonight bagging a perfect hat trick against one of the best teams in Europe and all from the right wing. It looked like it would be a long night when Götze waltzed through the defence and finished low to the right of Scuffet. Centurion got us level, and then ahead, however in the first half. He headed in a Sigurdsson corner before racing clear and finishing under Neuer right on halftime. Bernat pushed Lahm over inside the area and Müller dispatched the penalty bringing it back to 2-2. The man of the night Adrian Centurion made a a storming run after dispossessing Alaba well inside our own half. He left the Bayern defenders for dust and then had the composure to curl around, with his left foot, Manuel Neuer for his hat trick. The only downside it that we allowed Bayern 2 away goals to take back to Munich.

      Feb 26th
      Capital One Cup
      Final

      Swansea 2-1 Liverpool

      Benteke 34' (Pen)
      Delph 53'
      Remy 60'

      MotM: Fabian Delph

Liverpool, after over coming QPR, were our opponents in the first major piece of silverware available this season in England. And we did it! Goals from Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph sealed a memorable victory for the Welsh side. The first of the cups is ours. Sigurdsson won the penalty being clipped by Can as he prepared to shoot. Benteke, cool as ice, converted it without any trouble. Mignolet made a save from Centurion, then Stambouli headed over off a corner. Delph doubled the lead volleying in the rebound from Benteke's shot. Remy then got free and ran onto a ball from Henderson before he slotted past Scuffet to get one back for Liverpool. Remy again missed a glorious chance to tie it up in the 81st minute when he hit the post.

Swansea City Player of the Month

      Gylfi Sigurdsson - CAM, 79 Ovr (+1), 27, Iceland

The Icelandic playmaker became the heartbeat of the attack this month in the No.10 role. He was involved in 2 goals against Bayern Munich picking up 1 assist. He also won the penalty against Liverpool in the League Cup Final and earned MOTM against his former club, Tottenham, scoring one and assisting the other. Swans supporters are hoping that he can keep up his impressive form in the coming months.

I was also wondering how to score free kicks. Thanks!

Yep, they definitely called it against me and I was pissed haha.

Oh, I am trying to upload a free kick tutorial really quick for you. I've never uploaded a video before or even created one so you will have to bear with me. I have no idea what the quality will be on it. It might be a while though, Youtube is only 5% done uploading haha.

Let's say you are stuck in a desert. There are people who would just walk past you. There are people who would give you a bit of water. There are people who would show you the way out of the desert. Then there is Tex who would call a cab for you, take you to a bar and then book a hotel room for you haha Seriously speaking, respect for you, man! You messaged a moderator for a thread name change, you fixed the amount of pages and now you are making a tutorial. Wow.

Very interesting. I've never tried to dip the shot by holding the control stick up. I've only scored two in La Liga, one with Marcos Alonso and one with Cuevas, so bear in mind my numbers don't back me up as a good free kick taker at all. What I usually do though is similar to Tex. Always aim at the keeper's far post. I aim in between the last two on the wall, or in between the #2 and #3 (of a 4 man wall). I usually decide which I'll go for based on the angle I have. If I am 20+ yards out I try to power just barely over 1 bar. If I am trying to take a shot close to 30 yards out I try to power just over 2 bars. While powering the shot, I hold the left stick down and in the direction I want the ball to curve. So for example I am taking a shot from the left side of the box with a right footed player. I want the ball to curve left towards the keeper's far post, so I hold the left stick in between left and down. This usually gives me a very nice curve, however most of these shots either hit the wall or go over/wide of the goal. I still haven't mastered how much power to use and where to aim it using the opponent's wall. With that said, you should probably try Tex's way first lol

Also Tex, that referee deserves a suspension for having a direct impact on the match because of his error. Yes it is realistic to see the referee make mistakes in the game, but that penalty he called is blasphemous.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Tex - Deportivo is fantastic, absolute craziness goes on in every game for you there. Beating Real Madrid? And then getting smashed twice by Espanyol and Sevilla make every update an enjoyable one to see what the heck is gonna happen next haha. It's clearly getting tougher though, with the initial shock value of your first matches wearing off so hopefully you can turn it around because it will definitely be a chore just for you to stave off relegation.

Indi - What a fantastic run of form, you really stuck it to the big boys and have seem to found the shape that will suit you. Do you think that you have a decent shot at Europe now, and would you honestly want that or would you prefer to make it another season to strengthen the squad?

Keano - Great move to bring in Benteke, because he's like a little Bony in all honestly with even more mobility, so he should fit right into your team and push you on where Bony left off. I also love the Muniain signing, he is a beast with plenty of skill and pace. Hopefully you can use the momentum from a solid January to bounce you back up the table and into those Champs League places where you deserve to be. Also, congrats on the Capital One Cup silverware!

Simppu - Fenerbache and then Olympiakos in the UCL? Talk about a great draw for your team so that should be no problem at all in terms of getting into the semifinals, though Chelsea was a tough draw and you handled them with no problem, and you already have Serie A wrapped up. Choupo-Moting continues to be a monster for you, and Nainggolan seems like he was the perfect addition for you to shore up your midfield. Also, you had me laughing with your reasoning for not naming a player of the month.

Vrabbit - Tough break with the Madrid loss, but that's bound to happen on occasion. You absolutely smashed Juventus though and your league form is still leaving you plenty of breathing room, so hopefully the #RoadToTheTreble continues!

Chico, on FK's you should actually be aiming the left stick up to get topspin on the ball, because that is what allows you to get it up and down over the wall. So for example, if you want to get it straight up and down over the wall, you would charge the shot up to moderate power and hold the stick aimed up to give the shot topspin. If you are trying to curl a shot in the top corner, you want to aim the stick up and left (if you were going to the left corner) with a moderate amount of power. Aiming the stick down will cause your player to try to get under the ball, so if you put any real power on it at all it will cause your player to sky the ball over the goal.

So based on your process, you're going about FK's the right way, but instead of pointing down and left you need to be going up and left! Hope I've helped a bit.

Ah, I see! That's probably why I frequently send them over. I always went with down and left because IRL that's how I took free kicks when I wanted to curve the ball into the corner. Hitting the ball in the right place was a great feeling, and I thought in FIFA how you pointed the left stick meant which area of the ball you want your player to hit. Boy was I wrong! Lol thanks I'll definitely try that out next time! Up and left.

Great video from EA about some ways to help you with scoring.

I also love the Muniain signing, he is a beast with plenty of skill and pace. Hopefully you can use the momentum from a solid January to bounce you back up the table and into those Champs League places where you deserve to be. Also, congrats on the Capital One Cup silverware!
I'm really looking forward to using Muniaín next season. I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas! Haha. Benteke has shown flashes so far, I'm hoping that in March, April and May he will start getting a few more goals and assists. The early signs are good though. March is make or break in terms of getting up to 2nd/3rd. Here's to a good run!

Here's a quick tutorial for FK's that I put together. Never made a video before so bear with me!

Thought I'd share a new thing I'm trying here. The last couple of years of FIFA have been the hardest for me to get into since I bought FIFA 09 and began to fall in love with soccer. I haven't been able to get a good career mode going in the FIFA 15 or 14, largely because I've already done the things I've wanted in years past and I want something new. I'm always torn because I can't bring myself to start a career in a top flight league. I feel like I have to earn it. But I've earned it in past games and don't have as much time as I did then. That, and I've become a huge MLS fan and am constantly wishing for a better representation of MLS in Career Mode. I always thought about putting my favorite team in the English Leagues, but that'd be Seattle and they're rated too high to really fit any lower than the Championship. I want them lower (Again, that whole earning it thing). But I recently found what I think will be the answer over on a reddit page.

I've replaced every English team with teams from North and South America. I used a "system" (I use that term very loosely) to distribute teams throughout the leagues based on prestige and how many titles they've won. So the Premier League consists a good chunk of Argentine clubs, along with a few from Mexico, Columbia, and maybe Chile. A few MLS clubs are in the Championship (LA Galaxy, DC United, plus a couple more I can't remember), and the majority of MLS clubs are in League 1. I'll be playing as Seattle and trying to work my way up. I also put a few of the displaced larger EPL teams in Scotland so I'll still see the likes of Man U and Chelsea in the Champions League.
