MotM: Eldin Hadzic

Our second win on the trot. We dominated the game after the red card but I'm slightly annoyed that with their only 2 shots on target they scored. The first one we were asleep for the chipped ball over and then Alcolea really should have stopped the diving header. Their keeper then had an own goal from a shot by Ángel, who had a great game narrowly missing out on MOTM. Guilló has now gotten 2 goals in 2 appearances both from CDM. I'm thinking that he is a bit offensive for there so I may move him up to RCM/LCM. It was a great curling effort in off the post into the top corner as well. For Hadzic's first Ángel's ball through was inch perfect and he didn't have an awful lot to aim for. The penalty was routine and Hadzic completed his brace to cap off a MOTM performance. For the final goal Bigas failed to win the ball off Victor and Laguardia wasn't covering in behind so Victor essentially was allowed to walk through.

MotM: Óscar Whalley

With a game against Elche coming up the B Team was to play this game against fellow promoted side CD Tenerife. All be it they haven't had the start we have had not picking up any points at all. And they did the job getting a convincing victory. Tenerife's defence was a shambles for the first goal when a Romero chipped ball caused them all sorts of problems. Tierno put captain Carlos Ruiz under pressure as he went to head the ball. This was enough to force a bad header and the ball bounced towards his centre back partner, Cámara, who took it on his chest and turned to clear it. Tierno hadn't given up however and blocked the clearance. He shot right away and got his bit of luck when Ruiz tried to make up for his mistake and block Tierno's effort. He only half connected however and the deflection wrong footed Roberto leaving him no chance and giving us the lead. Tenerife responded in the 37th minute when a through ball from the edge of our box found Martin on the penalty spot where he finished it first time. Youth product Jose Baquero was kicking himself as he so nearly cut out the through ball just missing it by inches. Hadzic had our last chance of the half forcing Roberto into a fine diving save. That would be it until an own goal from Ruiz restored our lead. Baquero played a wonderful through ball with the outside of his right foot through the legs of Suso and curled around Cámara into Hadzic's path. He struck a venomous shot that Roberto parried only for his to bounce off Ruiz and go into the net. On nearly 70 minutes a rather poor shot could have trickled in if not for Whalley getting down well. Roberto performed another good save this time from Suárez as he powered towards the far corner. Ultimately though we would extend our lead and make sure of the game with 5 minutes to go through two substitutes combining. Gil played it into on loan Juventus striker Buenacasa who accelerated past Álvarez and shot low to the near post past Roberto.

MotM: Victor Laguardia

The first half was fairly even with chances for both teams but the difference was that we tool our chances. The first goal came when Ángel took the ball near the edge of the box, turned and spotted Porcar running in behind an out of line Elche defence. The ball was perfect allowing a first time finish past Manu Herrera. The second goal came from a corner swung in by Pedro from the right. Laguardia rose above his marker, David Lomban, to head the ball in off the post and score his first Zaragoza goal in his second spell with the club. Porcar forced another two saves from Manu Herrera before Cristian Herrera struck the bar with a curling effort. A minute later he had pulled one back for Elche latching onto the pass from Alcolea's goal kick and curling it around him. (So frustrating! I had the game paused and when I pressed resume Alcolea passed it straight out to Herrera. We would have gotten a clean sheet otherwise. )

MotM: Pedro Sánchez

This is a very interesting game. Both sides were only promoted this season but both are high up the table, Betis are second while Zaragoza third. Both on 14 points and the winner has the chance to close the gap on Barca to just 2 points while the loser potentially could drop down a place if Villarreal win their game. It was us who came out on top thanks to a converted Hadzic penalty and a close range finish from Ángel. We still didn't keep a clean sheet though and that worries me. Alcolea made a great reaction save early on to deny a close range header from Shin Wook. Then the tables turned as Pedro got past Juanfran inside the area and he dived in completely missing the ball giving away a stonewall penalty. Hadzic stepped up and even though Adán went the right way and his leg touched the ball the power made sure it went in. Full of confidence Hadzic had another good chance right before Ángel headed over from a corner that would have put us two up at the interval. In the second half Shin Wook came close again with another header going just wide. It had Alcolea concerned enough to dive for it. 7 minutes later the second goal did come through some great work from Pedro on the left. He picked up the loose ball from a bad cross out by the touch line. Juanfran was with him but he nutmegged him and then drilled it low across the six yard box when he reached the edge of the area. Ángel was alert and got ahead of his man to poke it in. 10 minutes later substitute Charles had scored. He got away from Bigas and Laguardia, who then collided meaning Charles had enough time to get a shot away and then tap in the rebound after Alcolea saved his first attempt. Rodríguez and Agra had late chances to equalize but they weren't taken.

Real Zaragoza Player of the Month

Eldin Hadzic - LM, 68 (+1) Ovr, 22, Bosnia Herzegovina

The Bosnian winger was in great form this month leading to him dislodging Javi Álamo from the start XI. The 22 year old scored 3 times, took the shot that led to the own goal against Tenerife and picked up 1 MOTM award this month. He was also a constant threat down the left or right side throughout most games with his direct running, great dribbling and ball control. His runs from in behind the fullback were often found by teammates.

*Andrés Ferreras - (Mexico) LM/CM/RM/ST, 41-51 Ovr, 68-84 Pot, 15 (Unknown) - Andrés is an extremely tall young lad. He is 6'2" and not even fully grown yet. The Mexican would be great to have up front with his height. He has good potential and most likely will be a striker or a central midfielder.

*Fabian Lopez - (Spain) CB/LM/CM/RM, 46-60 Ovr, 74-94 Pot, 15 (Unknown) - One of the brightest prospects in the academy is new 15 year old addition Fabian. The Spanish player's stats lean towards him being a playmaker from the centre of the park. Can he one day be as good as Xavi or Iniesta of Barcelona? Only time will tell.

Gabriel Rodriguez - (Spain) RB, 57-61 Ovr, 74-80 Pot, 16 (Defensive Minded) - The 5'8" 16 year old is the second addition to the Zaragoza Academy. He looks like he will be either a defender or a defensive midfielder seeing as his best stats are his defensive one. Particularly his standing tackle and strength. He has decided to be a right back even though he is left footed. With a lack of pace he is most likely to be a CB. I hope he will grow though.

Laurenco Pauleta - (Portugal) LW, 56-60 Ovr, 73-79 Pot, 15 (Attacker) - Laurenco is the first non Spanish player to join our Academy. The Portuguese has decided to play on the left wing where he won't be able to speed past people due to not having incredible pace. The 15 year old is described as an attacker so he may actually be played through the middle or behind the striker because of his 5'11" height.

*Pablo Acosta - (Mexico) MID/CB/RB, 42-52 Ovr, 72-92 Pot, 15 (Unknown) - The second Mexican added was also a 15 year old. The 5'9" right footer looks like he could be a good fit for the centre of midfield as a creative mind.

Rafael Lopez - (Spain) GK, 60-64 Ovr, 75-81 Pot, 15 (Goalkeeper) - The third addition to the Academy is 6'3" 15 year old goalkeeper Rafael Lopez. The left footed shot stopper's best attribute at the minute looks to be his kicking. We hope that he can be our future No.1 as well as his country's No.1.

Tough month ahead with a massive test against Atletico Madrid away. This will be our first real game against one of the big boys in the league. I know we played Valencia already but this is a step up. Then we host Villarreal who have had a good start similar to ours though the no doubt have the superior quality players. Next is away to relegation candidates Vallecano which we will be aiming to win. We then have a home match after a days rest against Bilbao which will be a hard game. Then our third game in a week will be against Sevilla who aren't pushovers as shown when they won their 3rd Europa League last year. 5 tough and 4 extremely tough matches. Let's see where we'll be at the end of the month.

You snuck this one in while I was doing the other comments! You are having a really good season so far. 2nd place in your first season in La Liga. Hopefully you handle the early success better than I did with Deportivo when I really slumped off the last few months. Your attack is playing at a really high level right now, and with you starting to only concede 1 goal in games your defense is coming around as well. If they take that next step and start putting up some clean sheets you could really make a push for a great finish this season. This next month should be a really good test to see where you really stand in the league.

Yep the attack is functioning really well together. The defence as you said is starting to slowly come together now that Bigas and Laguardia are getting used to each other. 1 of the back 4 demands a transfer next month though, . I was so close to getting my first clean sheet of the season too against Elche if not for the stupid button. Agreed we'll see how we do next month!

Keano your Attacking force is definitely coming together. 2nd in La Liga in your first season is mighty impressive(I finished 6th with Betis in my first La Liga season lol) When My life gets back in order I'm doing another Liga Adelante CM I had a lot of fun with Betis and I look forward to doing great things with whatever team I choose

This game was much more important for Liege than for Hertha. The Berliners had already secured their place in the knockout stages while Liege were fighting for the second place. The game didn't start well at all for the Belgians because Josip Drmic was played through in the 5th minute. The young attacker calmly curled the ball into the top right corner. Three minutes later he scored an almost identical goal. Four minutes after that Änis Ben-Hatira got the ball in the middle. He ran through the whole attacking half before shooting the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal. In the second half Andre Hahn added one more to the scoreline from a counter attack.





1899 Hoffenheim 0 - 3 Hertha BSC
Lustenberger 10', Kalou 28', Ben-Hatira 90'

In the second game of the month Hertha beat Hoffenheim away from home convinsingly. The captain who has rumours about leaving surrounding him got the lead from a corner kick only ten minutes into the game. Before the half time mark Salomon Kalou doubled the lead after Ben-Hatira played a great pass to him. In the last minutes of the game the Tunisian winger went ahead and got a goal himself by dribbling past the keeper and putting the ball into the net.





Hertha BSC 4 - 0 Hannover 96

This home match against Hannover 96 lead to Hertha's third clean sheet this month. Once again the scoreline was opened early. This time the keeper Zieler played a bad pass which was intercepted and put into the net by Valentin Stocker in the 12th minute. Right before half time Andre Hahn got the second of the day from a counter attack. After the hour mark Salomon Kalou cut in from the right to curl the ball into the bottom right. A few minutes later he got a brace after Änis Ben-Hatira played him through one-on-one.





Real Sociedad 1 - 3 Hertha BSC

The last group game saw Hertha BSC beat Real Sociedad and make sure that the Spaniards don't progress in the competition. The Berliners managed to score again in the first 10 minutes. The man in form Änis Ben-Hatira cut in from the left wing, got past two defenders and shot a powerful shot to the top left corner. Fifteen minutes after that Josip Drmic scored from a counter attack. A couple of minutes before half time Chory Castro pulled one back with an amazing shot from outside the box. Both teams had some chances in the second half but only Tolga Cigerci managed to score his. He stole the ball from Sociedad's defender and placed a low shot into the bottom left corner. Hertha's next opponent will be Napoli from Italy.





Borussia Dortmund 1 - 2 Hertha BSC

Two good teams faced each other in this exciting game. Hertha didn't reach their top level but Dortmund were playing well. The Berliners scored first when Timo Werner curled the ball into the net from a counter attack in the beginning of the second half. The lead didn't last long as Marek Hamsik's nicely placed equaliser found it's way to the net. Hertha then started pushing forwards and in the 79th minute Roman Weidenfeller parried Maximilian Arnold's shot. Valentin Stocker was the first man to reach and he managed to put the ball into the net to secure the three points!

The cup game wasn't Hertha's best performance but they did everything they needed to do. A few minutes before the half an hour mark the ball was played to Andre Hahn in the box who then shot it into the bottom right corner with a half-volley. Twenty minutes later Stuttgart's Ginczek scored from a corner kick which was parried by Sascha Burchert in goal. At the hour mark Josip Drmic scored the winning goal with an outside of the boot shot to secure his team's place in the quarter finals.


Player of the Month



Änis Ben-Hatira

While Salomon Kalou is enjoying a rollercoaster of form other players have gotten into the spotlight. This month it was Änis Ben-Hatira's turn. The quick and skillful winger was a joy to watch in December as he assisted, scored, created chances and defended well.

The attacking midfielder had another very good month in the number 10 role of Hertha's formation. He assisted like always and he scored an important goal against Borussia Dortmund. The Swiss man is the league leader in assists.




Josip Drmic

The young striker continued to bang in goals in the cup games of December. He netted four goals in three games and some fans want Drmic to be the starter instead of Kalou. Drmic is already starting to reach his potential.

All wins! The first 3 games were very convincing 4-0's and 3-0's. Then you gave up some goals but only 1 each game which is still good considering it was Sociedad, Dortmud and Stuttgart who are all very good. Drmic is your man in Europe while Kalou is still notching a few in the league. You definitely have a ready made replacement in Drmic though. Ben-Hatira has been influencing your games a lot recently and rightfully got POTM. A question, do you use an A and a B team? Or are they mostly the same guys?

Sturridge gave us the lead early on in the game, his toe poked volley being saved but he was able to knock in on the rebound. Ameobi equalised with a powerful effort beyond Mignolet from just inside the box, but Mignolet should have saved it. Bolasie struck the post from the edge of the area on the stroke of half time. Balo hit the post just after half time, the ball unfortunately curling away from the goal and striking the inside of the far post from a tight angle. Minutes later, Chamakh smashed in when found in open space by Bolasie inside the box. Balo equalised from the spot soon after, after he was rugby tackled by Scott Dann. Mignolet forced into a good save just after the hour mark to deny Ledley's curling effort from distance. Speroni was forced into 2 great saves just before full time, denying both Clyne and Moreno stunners from outside the box from set piece routines. In extra time, Speroni made yet another amazing save, this time denying Ibe what would have been the best goal he would ever score. The ball dropping over his shoulder he smashed it with his left on the volley without looking and Speroni made the best save of his career, keeping it out with one hand at the very top corner. However, the keeper could do nothing to deny Markovic a screamer that found what Alan Smith likes to call the postage stamp, smashing in from the corner of the box. Mignolet made a wonderful save to deny Williams a brilliant volley, amazing reflexes to dive across the goal and get a fingertip to the powerful effort.

We were absolutely dominated in this match, having just 39% of the possession. Defoe had a shot saved excellently by Mignolet and Cattermole hit the post from point blank range. Mignolet was also able to turn a Giaccherini shot onto the post and our defence was incredible.

Lille dominated the possession and had more shots but we made our count. Mignolet tipped an Origi shot over the bar early on and denied Roux with an excellent save soon after. Gray gave us the lead with our first shot of the game, Ibe skipping past 2 defenders with ease before whipping it in for Gray to volley into the back of the net. Our second goal came when Allen clipped a ball over the top and Gray brought it down wonderfully before curling into tbe bottom corner. Lambert tackled Basa and calmly curled into the top corner to make it 3 before Origi hit the post with a header. Lille finally beat MOTM Mignolet when Basa headed in from a corner.

We both playing well in this match but the first chance of the game came to United, Rooney heading wide at the far post from a good ball in. Lindegaard made an excellent save to deny Sturridge and he made yet another one to deny Balotelli. We took the lead with the best goal I have ever scored, Sturridge getting the ball 35 yards out, hitting it with his right into the top corner with intense power. It was a knuckle ball, there was no spin, it just wnt straight in like a bullet. Unfortunately, United equalised from the spot after Sakho was penalised for lunging in. We got lucky as Rooney hit the bar with a header, then Falcao hit the bar on the rebound and on the third rebound Van Persie's header was tipped over the bar by our defender. Lindegaard made an incredible save in the last minute to deny Balo.

The first chance of the game came to Arsenal when Dzeko fired wide from close range. He then missed another one from a similar position before Balotelli coolly stroked into the bottom corner with his left foot from a Lallana through ball. Wilshere equalised with a powerful header from Walcott's cross but Sturridge fired it at the near post, the ball swerving away from the keeper at the last second to give us the lead. Mignolet made a great save to deny Koscielny minutes before Sturridge cut inside and fired into the top corner from the edge of the box. Sterling made sure of the win, Sturridge back-heeling the ball to him and throwing all the defenders to allow Sterling to smash in to make it 4.

Ibe gave us the lead with a wonderful solo effort, dribbling past multiple players before prodding in at the near post beyond Schwarzer. Gray made it 2 when he beat his man down the left and thundered the ball into the roof of the net near post. On the stroke of half time, Schwarzer made an incredible save to deny Lambert's header from point blank range. Mignolet was tested just once, making a wonderful reactions save. Lambert made it 3 with a wonderful first time effort with his left foot.

Not much happened in this game, Ings heading the first chance of the match over the bar. Balotelli hit the bar with our first chance but he made amends, spinning round his defender before slotting in past Heaton. Shackell equalised, smashing in off the post from just outside the box after a failed clearance. Heaton thought he'd kept his side at a draw after making saves to deny Moreno and Sturridge but Coutinho smashed in after some close-quarters dribbling to win the game.

Gray gave us the lead in this match, running through and curling in off the post. Swansea came close to an equaliser, Sigurdson hitting the bar from a penalty after Enrique was penalised. However, the Iceland international got the equaliser, smashing in after some brilliant passing by the Welsh side. Ibe forced the keeper into a good save, as did Lambert and later Allen. Gerrard got us the winner from the spot after Gray was brought down in the box.

Palace pushed you all the way but it's good that you are into the Semi-Final. Looks like you struggled against Sunderland but you bounced back with resounding wins against Lille, Arsenal and Leicester while getting a good point against United all be it their goal was a penalty. You snatched the points against Burnley and looks like Swansea gave you a hard time of it. The gap is now only 2 points, next month you better have overtaken them! A clean sweep of your group too which is a great achievement considering Real were in your group. Do I see a treble in your future?

Back in October, Osasuna traveled to Portugal and defeated Sporting 3-0; a scoreline that many considered misleading since Sporting had been on top up until Osasuna scored the 2nd goal. Sporting traveled to El Sadar looking for redemption, and they nearly acquired it. Chavez's 4-3-3 Holding did little to no harm as the Portuguese side defended solidly. A victory seemed distant, so Osasuna's best choice was to play for the draw since losing two in a row this late in the group stage would significantly reduce their chances to go through to the next round. Slimani put Sporting in the lead in the 67th minute, and El Sadar fell silent. Osasuna were down and with no sign of scoring an equalizer. As we passed the 90 minute mark it looked like it was all over. Osasuna had every attack minded player on the field but they just couldn't create any danger. Then, a miracle happened. Guillermo received a foul right on the edge of the box and El Sadar exploded. Finally, a scoring chance for Osasuna! The fans began to cheer even louder when they saw Guillermo get up and hand the ball to Roberto Torres who back in October scored a wonderful free kick goal against none other than the same Sporting CP. What a situation to be in with an entire stadium on your shoulders. Roberto Torres took the shot... And it went in!

Torres had equalized, Osasuna had equalized! The fans went wild in jubilation with Torres' free kick going over the wall and curving past the keeper. The referee blew the final whistle soon after the goal. A draw with a taste of victory for Osasuna.

CA Osasuna 1 - 0 Atletico Madrid
OSA: Guillermo 54'
Atletico haven't stepped into the Top 6 since Osasuna's promotion to La Liga, but Diego Simeone's team is always a competitive one. Chavez sent out his squad with the same 4-3-3 Holding used against Sporting, and the results were similar. Atletico defended extremely well but Osasuna were also quite poor in attack. We frequently saw a huge gap between Osasuna's midfield and attack. At halftime Chavez chose to drop the 4-3-3 formation and changed to a 4-4-2 Holding with Guillermo and Palacios playing side by side as strikers. Osasuna began to play a lot better as a whole, and in the 54th minute the scoreline was finally opened as Guillermo dribbled past two defenders and then powered the ball into the net.

Osasuna were playing much better overall, but the goal was entirely Guillermo's as he received a side pass from Palacios and then used his individual skill to get into the box.

CA Osasuna 3 - 0 Sevilla FC
OSA: Guillermo 27' 85' Palacios 69'
A huge surprise as Osasuna humiliated the league leaders. This time Osasuna started the match with the 4-4-2 Holding used against Atletico and with this formation Osasuna showed a wonderful understanding on the field. Chavez made one change to the starting lineup, dropping Ivan to the reserves and instead starting the RW youth graduate Paré Bulhões Romeu at RB. Even though it is not his natural position that is the position he has played the most with the B-Team. Guillermo opened the score after teaming up with Palacios for a wall pass that allowed him to get into the box. Guillermo waited for Akinfeev to start coming out and then took a powerful low shot that Akinfeev wasn't able to react in time for.

Osasuna had complete control of midfield and that only improved when youth graduate Paré Bulhões Vinuesa Ramos came on for Sergi Darder. Although Vinuesa Ramos is more defensive minded than the playmaking Darder, he still managed to send an incredible pass from midfield to Federico Palacios who only had to use his speed to outrun the defenders and engage in a one on one with the keeper. Palacios has become known for getting in clear scoring positions but missing the target in the end, however this time he remained calm and put the ball past the keeper!

Seeing a 2-0 scoreline in favor of Osasuna against Sevilla was already a surprise, but in the 85th minute Guillermo completed his brace. Roberto Torres dribbled the ball on the right wing and anticipated Guillermo's run with a perfect through pass. Guillermo outran his marker and dribbled into the box where he then finessed the ball past the Russian captain Akinfeev.

An already dominant scoreline that could have become even more embarrassing for Sevilla as a penalty was called in favor of Osasuna in injury time. Roberto Torres stepped up to take the penalty but surprisingly he missed it! Akinfeev was able to read Torres and he blocked the penalty.

A shocking save as we are accustomed to seeing Torres convert penalties into goals with ease, but it did little to influence the match as the referee would blow the end of the match soon afterwards with Osasuna's dominant 3-0 scoreline still intact.

Copa Del Rey - Round of 32 (2nd Leg)
Sporting Gijon 1 (1) - (5) 1 CA Osasuna (B-Team)
SPO: Perez 44'
OSA: Lopez 82'
After winning the first leg 4-0, there wasn't much to play for anymore in this second leg which allowed reserve players Maikel Mesa and Miguel Olavide to see more game time. Gijon took the lead right before halftime and held it well, seemingly caring more about the 1-0 scoreline than the aggregate. Nobody likes to lose though, and Chavez went all out for the equalizer. Isma Lopez from the First Team was brought on from the bench to play against his old team, and it was actually him who scored the equalizing goal. Maikel Mesa played a through ball down the left side of the box for Lopez to dribble in and power it past the keeper.

Even though the result was quite meaningless following the demolishing 4-0 in the first leg the goal still meant a lot as it was not only a goal against Lopez's former team, but it was also Lopez's first goal as an Osasuna player.

Europa League - Group Stage
sc Heerenveen 1 - 2 CA Osasuna (B-Team)
SCH: Buijs 48'
OSA: Mesa 87' Ferreiro 90'
The last match of the group stage and still with everything to play for with Osasuna, Heerenveen, and Sporting all still having a chance to advance. The B-Team came out to try and a secure a spot in the next round while the First Team was given a rest due to match scheduling. This move nearly backfired on Chavez as Heerenveen took the lead early in the second half with a perfect free kick from Buijs that Rodriguez wasn't able to get to. The B-Team's attack wasn't able to finish the plays up front, and they began to get desperate. Sporting CP were tied with SK Rapid Wien, which put Sporting at 9 points. If this match finished 1-0, Heerenveen and Sporting would advance, and Osasuna would be eliminated with 7 points. Chavez was noticeably frustrated and tense as he shouted directions nonstop at his players. Then, just three minutes before the final whistle, Osasuna came back to life. David Ferreiro dribbled down the left wing and crossed the ball into the box looking for Kodro, but his cross was inaccurate and came up short to Kodro's position. However, the cross went towards Maikel Mesa, who was able to head the ball. The ball went high but with a threatening drop. The goalkeeper tried to get his glove on it but couldn't reach it, the ball hit the top bar and went in!

Osasuna were still alive in the Europa, and to secure advancing to the next round, David Ferreiro would find the net as well after being played into the box by Kenan Kodro. Ferreiro would cut inside and then take a powerful shot that beat the keeper and put Osasuna in the lead.

Osasuna had turned it around in the final three minutes, and they secured a spot in the Round of 32!

Real Madrid 0 - 3 CA Osasuna
OSA: Guillermo 11' Lopez 21' Torres 84'
REA: Jordi Amat RED CARD 27'
Resting the First Team almost backfired on Chavez in the last match, but now we can see why he made that decision as the First Team shocked the capital with a dominant win at the Santiago Bernabeu. Osasuna kicked off to a great start as Guillermo scored the first goal in barely the 11th minute as Federico Palacios sent him a through pass into the box. Madrid's Sergio Ramos had the advantage, however Guillermo was able to use a combination of speed and strength to get past him and then smoothly tap the ball in past Iker Casillas.

Soon afterwards, Guillermo received a foul at the left corner of the box from Jordi Amat who was given a yellow card. Roberto Torres stepped up to take the free kick, but with no angle to shoot decided to send a cross into the box. The cross curved away from Casillas and towards Isma Lopez, and the Spanish winger managed to head the ball into the net!

Barely 21 minutes in and Real Madrid were already 2-0 down. Their situation only worsened in the 27th minute as Jordi Amat, who was playing for the injured Pepe, made a risky slide tackle on Guillermo as he was receiving a pass, and the referee called the foul. Amat had already been given a yellow card for a previous foul on Guillermo and the referee did not forgive him.

Amat was given a direct red card and was sent off. Had he not taken down Guillermo, the Basque striker would have found himself in scoring opportunity. Luckily, Osasuna was not able to score from the resulting free kick and the match went on 2-0. Ancelotti did not make any modifications after the sending off and instead left Sergio Ramos as the sole centre back with Marcelo and Carvajal as full backs. This allowed Osasuna to really create damage with counter attacks, which was the case in the 84th minute when Palacios passed the ball to Roberto Torres as he sprinted into the box. Torres would use his body to fight off Ramos and Marcelo, and then beat Casillas with a powerful shot to make it 3-0.

Osasuna humiliated Real Madrid in their own stadium, with the youth graduate Paré Bulhões Romeu standing out the most. Romeu, who is naturally a RW, did an outstanding job as RB and shut down Cristiano Ronaldo who finished the match with a 5.1 rating. Romeu was given the opportunity to take Ivan's starting spot at RB in the match against Sevilla, and he hasn't shown any sign of letting go anytime soon.

Raul Albentosa had to leave the match against Real Madrid early and will be out for 4 weeks with a Sprained Ankle.

Guillermo has finally reignited his romance with the net, scoring 4 goals since Chavez changed the formation to 4-4-2 Holding. Guillermo has also climbed on the club top scorer and the league top scorer tables this month, becoming a dangerous goal scorer once again. This could be a turnaround for the young striker who has struggled to recover from the long term injury he suffered last season.

Alex Silva Gavan - RM (Spain) (59-63, 74-80): The 17 year old has decided to settle in at RM and is considered an attacker. With a 6'0" height he's a good fit pretty much anywhere on the field especially down the center, but he has decided he's most comfortable on the wing.

Chris Cropper - GK (United States) (49-53, 79-85): The third American goalkeeper to join the Youth Academy. At 16 years old he stands at 6'3" and his game is well balanced so far.

Chris Jamieson IV - GK (United States) (61-65, 78-84): Julian Rubin was the first American to join the academy, but now this 6'7" giant also from the United States has stolen the show as people are excited to see him between the sticks. At 16 years old he's looking like a solid candidate for a call up soon depending on how he shapes up with the U17s.

Eriq Lisch - GK (United States) (57-61, 88-94): The fourth and final American goalkeeper to join the academy. 16 years old, 6'1", and so far he looks like the most promising. From what we've seen of him with the U-17 he still needs to improve his positioning. Competition to be the first American to play for Osasuna is hot.

Eñaut Gabbiadini - CDM (Spain) (54-58, 72-78): The Spanish midfielder becomes the 2nd CDM in the academy, although at 15 years old he still has much to develop, including his height which is quite low for a CDM as he stands at 5'3".
*Turned 16, grew to 5'10*

Frost S. Napoles - CM (Spain) (55-59, 70-74): Technically Gifted has been the term used to describe the 17 year old midfielder from Spain, but we haven't seen enough of him with the U17 to say what his future holds.

*Ivan Miranda - ? (Spain) (52-64, 73-91): The 15 year old is still being evaluated by the youth staff, but so far he's been most inclined to play as a LW, ST, and RW. If he decides to play down the middle, he'll need to stretch a little as he is currently only 5'2".

Joyce Barber - RM (Spain) (58-62, 71-75): *Player has been released by the Osasuna Youth Academy.

Julian Rubin - GK (United States) (58-62, 73-77): Julian becomes the first player from the United States to join the Osasuna youth academy, and if he develops well enough he could even become the first ever American player to wear Osasuna's colors. The 16 year old goalkeeper could make history, but first he must show his class in the youth levels.

Luis Martinez - CM (Spain) (53-57, 87-93): I'm really glad he decided to settle in as a CM and not CB. Really looking forward to see how he grows in May. At only 15 years of age he still has much to grow as far as height though as he stands at 5'1".

Mario Santana - ST (Mexico) (49-53, 83-89): Really excited to see future reports on this kid from Mexico. He's described as "Physically Strong" and you know how much I like to play with a target man. The downside is that he's only 5'3", but he's still 15 years old so I'm hoping he'll grow closer to the 6 foot range.

Roussillon Murnane - ST (Spain) (57-61, 71-75): The 5'9" 17-year old from Spain has shown the characteristics of a winger as he tends to drift wide from the center.

December Headlines


Clock Is Ticking At Osasuna
Osasuna is having one of the best seasons in the entire club's history, currently sitting in 3rd place after defeating Real Madrid 3-0. However, it is not all perfect for some of the players who rumor has it have their days counted at the club. The first player on this list is the centre back Pedro Bigas who joined the Basque club this summer for $3m plus Echaide. Bigas has struggled with the B-Team and is often somehow involved in the goals received. It is said that he had already been moved down to the reserves and the youth graduate Vinuesa Ramos would be taking the LCB spot for the B-Team but with Albentosa's injury that all changed. Bigas may no longer be an Osasuna player next season if things don't change. Another player who is slowly joining this list is the RB Ivan, who recently lost his starting spot to the youth graduate Romeu and is currently playing with the B-Team. Chavez went through a lot trying to get Ivan to join the club first from Levante and then from Real Valladolid. In the end Chavez was able to sign him for $2m, but Ivan has only been decent on the field, making people wonder if he was really worth all the trouble Osasuna went through to bring him in.
It is rumored Osasuna is looking at strikers to bring in next month, with Kike Sola being the big name thrown around. Chavez had attempted to sign Sola in his first season but was unable to. Now in his third season he feels ready to make another attempt to bring the striker back to Osasuna, as he has yet to make an appearance for Bilbao this year.

Europa League
Osasuna have progressed to the knockout stage of the Europa League, where they will face off against Ajax when the competition resumes in February. Ajax is in the Europa League knockout stage after being eliminated from the Champions League, however there is no doubt of the quality and history their squad has.


Mexico Announces Chavez As Manager
In October of 2013, the Mexican FMF announced Miguel Herrera as emergency interim as the team was dangerously close to missing out of the 2014 World Cup. Herrera was able to guide Mexico through the playoff stage eliminating New Zealand earning a long term contract, and then defeated Croatia 3-1 in the World Cup group stage to advance to the knockout stage where an extremely controversial penalty saw them go out against Holland. Before Herrera, the only manager who's long term contract with the national team had been respected with no ultimatums was the now Guadalajara manager Jose Manuel 'Chepo' De La Torre. It seems Mexico's FMF has went back to quick-firing managers, as is the case with most teams in the domestic league, and this time it was Herrera who has been given the boot with no apparent reasoning behind it other than they wanted Chavez. Chavez has been putting Mexico football more out there in his time at Osasuna, and is now expected to guide Mexico to the 2018 World Cup Semifinals while still being responsible for meeting his club's objectives. The objective Mexico set for Chavez is quite surprising, as Mexico usually strives for El Quinto Partido (the 5th match) in the World Cup, but this time they want a more optimistic mindset and want the semis. Because of Osasuna's participation in the Europa League, Mexico will not have any friendlies in February. Instead, Chavez will debut with the national team in March where he will face South Africa, and then his first ever derby against Texasbum's United States in just his 2nd match as Mexico manager.


Conclusion
So, I decided to accept the Mexico job! I'll be honest though I was very disappointed the first time I opened up the squad selection menu. It truly does not reflect the team's current reality with a lot of names missing due to low potential at the time I started the Osasuna career. However I think I can put up with it. As far as tactics, I will remain true to Mexico's current 5-3-2, but change it just a little to the 3-5-2 I used at Wimbledon. The reason is that I recently had an online friendly session with Jamie where I used Mexico for one match, and the 5-3-2 caused my players to crowd the defensive end too much inviting pressure and we had very little going forward. I am a lot more comfortable with a 3-5-2 which is still very similar to Mexico's 5-3-2. In order to see everything I have to work with in the squad, since like I said there are a lot of names I was expecting to see but are not there, I will take a B-Team approach to the upcoming friendlies, so I'll have a B-Team play against South Africa, and then a completely different eleven as First Team play against the United States. There shouldn't be any international competitions for Mexico at the end of this season but I still want to see as much as I can since I only have 2 friendlies this year.

Sporting almost beat you at home! :O Good old Torres though came up with the goods. As did Guillermo when you changed to the 4-4-2 Holding. 2 clean sheets and 3 goals for Guillermo with 1 for Palacios in your first 2 games using it against good sides in Atleti and Sevilla. Good to see Maikel Mesa get some game time and he got 1 goal and 1 assist in 2 games for you! Good to also see Lopez getting his first goal for the club and against his old club nonetheless. What a dramatic way to end the group stages too! You got through though which the main thing. What a result against Real too! Surprised to see Jordi Amat from Swansea playing for them though. You are sitting nicely in 3rd well within reach of Barca at the top. Guillermo is starting to creep his way up the scoring leaderboards too which is good to see. Your academy is looking promising too with the best prospects looking like Lisch, Martinez, Santana and also Miranda if he can get that right side of 80. Hopefully Lisch makes it to May and the other 3 should make it.

Headline in my career saying Athletic Bilbao to be bought by Middle Eastern businessmen. I guess these are those moments you know it's truly a video game. Basque + Middle Eastern policy all the way!

One, I've been really busy. Finishing high school in a few months, so the last few months are filled with exams and stuff. Also, I'm working hard as ever to bounce back from the injury. Add to that, I am going to classes to get my license.

Second, and I even think it is the bigger idea: FIFA doesn't appeal to me any more. There isn't anything to CM that pulls me. If anybody has any good CM ideas, then shout them out! (I like Keanos!)

You had an extremely successful season getting into the CL. You definitely need to get your squad ready for that new competition though. I think that with some key additions you could do well in CL and even push to compete to win the league. Your squad has a lot of good players right now, so you should be able to use your budget and sell a few players if needed to get some big time funds. Getting a new GK would be good, and you can hold on to Adrian for domestic cup competitions to still give him some time on the pitch since he still has some use in him. As for CB, Tah is a great option. He was good for me at St. Pauli. But my American side will also support Brooks! RB, you want Matthews so you should be able to make that happen, but Byram is a great second option as well. I had him in FIFA 14 and he was great coming down the wings. Song coming back to West Ham would be a great grab for you as a holding midfielder since you are already familiar with him and he is a great player on top of that. Your forward options are pretty ambitious, but I think you can certainly make something happen and any of them would be a good buy so I don't think you can go wrong there.

I would definitely like another CB so Kouyate can stay in midfield, and Tah is one of my top options because he will provide depth but is a bit younger and not as far developed, so he is a bit of a cheaper option. I would love a right back as well just for cover so we can stay away from 3 at the back for the most part, so either Matthews or Byram would be a great buy, because I like keeping British players in the side. Sounds like you have the right prospects to use as backup GK then. I had only said that about Adrian since keeper's usually don't command a high value. Although, he is on the right side of 30 so you might be able to get something for him.

As for CB, like I said Tah is a great option. But if you are looking for depth and don't want to be paying high dollar amounts you could also look at Liam Moore from Leicester and Jamaal Laschelles from Newcastle. Both young English players with room to grow. I can understand staying away from Song for now, he will cost a good chunk of money, and Delph is a stud in the midfield. Winger is where you should prioritize your big spending. Like I said, you have great options, but they will cost you.

Your player career was entertaining and I wouldn't be opposed to that.

You could also choose a return to glory type club, like a Leeds United or something similar. A club that was once at the top of the game, but has fallen over the years. Set aside some goals that help you adhere to certain strategies. I'm having fun with my Deportivo 5 year plan and checking my progress at the end of the season on it. Of course each person finds different things entertaining so that may not be for you either. What's important is finding something that keeps your interest. I don't want to force anything on you only for you to not enjoy it.

I hope you are able to find something that really keeps you focused, and that it doesn't get deleted/corrupted/glitched!

Well let me start by saying I have about 11 pages of reading to catch up on. I have playing a little fifa about some basketball. But let's get to the good stuff.

First Cruzerr I did catch your post about trying to get a CM that's keeps your attention. That has been bothering me the last few weeks as well. Many of you know I have been battling with Dagenham. This post will conclude that CM for now.

Dagenham went on and won the BPL league. We had an epic battle with Chelsea at their home. Winning this battle helped us clinch the BPL. Then it was off to 2018 World Cup.

With Wales we match in a group that included England, Australia, and Columbia. Right away I knew Columbia would be adversary. We were matched up against them the first match. I told the lads that this is the key match out of the group. Who wins this match will have the best chance of winning the group. It was battle royale, that saw us down 2-0 before we knew what hit us. Bale gathered the lads and put the team on his back. We evened it at 2-2 by half. The second half saw more fight between the two sides. With it tied at 3, it was on until the end. We finally broke out in the last ten to win 4-3. We had no other problems in group stage. Our first match was against Germany, we prevailed with a nice victory. Our next match was against Brazil, which we won as well. I started noticing something Columbia was winning too. We faced Spain in the semifinal and won, this set up the ultimate rematch with Columbia. This time we met and knew we had to start out differently. Bale said coach don't worry I got you. We jumped out on top, but Coumbia wouldn't back down they tied it quickly. We ended winning this heated rematch 3-2. This World Cup lived up to the hype.


I told my Wales guys after the cup I needed a break. So on Dagenham I went. I told the board and vested members, and the lads that I will be stepping down. I told them that my predecessor will come from within and appointed my assistant who was with us the whole way. They left and open door shoul I ever want come back, so we left on friendly terms.

So I decided to head to Italy for a much needed vacation with football being the last thing on my mind. While there I was taking in some great sights. I said this would be a great place to manage a club, but nah it won't happen. The next day this limo pulls up to me and says are you that guy from Dagenham and Wales, I said yeah what's it too you. They said get in quickly, I'm thinking what in the blank is going on. Is someone making a play on my life. I said look guys I don't know what you want, but I'm here trying to relax. I don't want any trouble I'm not tied to any clubs and am not looking at poaching players. Next I see we are pulling up to Stadio Olympic, I said wait one moment I told I'm here on vacation. They turned to me and had a contract, a personalized key, with team insignia and my name. The key was a master key to all auxiliaries of the club in question. Next I looked up I was being escorted to copter that took my overhead, the pitch was decorated with my name and I looked the placards were packed in the stadium. I saw the board from a distance, I was like no the blank way, it can't be. Next they flew over the nearby airport, I saw a jet with my name on it and lights all around flashing and welcoming me with my name flashing in bright lights. They do you accept all of this. I said is it for who I think it is. They said yes we have watched me work all the way up to BPL and now I am unattached it was time to join........................coming in the next post.

Thoughts

So another transfer window went by and there were not many dealing. Lucas wanted out, we got above his value and he's gone to get a place at Inter, a side in dire need of stability and I'm sure he can help provide that. Anyway, let's talk about our signing. We bought in Argentine Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio. He is young and one of the hottest defensive prospects in Europe. Currently he is in the team for depth as Sakho, Skrtel and Lovren are all ahead of him in the pecking order, but with our alternative tactic being 3 centre backs, we need more depth in the position. He is a man for the future, the long term goal having him alongside Sakho in defence.

jamiec- great pick up in Musacchio. I did a Villarreal career last year and he was one of my best players. Very good defender with lots of potential. I'll be following for sure.

Just scored my nicest free kick yet. Keeper gave up at the end, but I don't think he would have gotten there.
