Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

    Season 2
    December 2016

    Season Objectives:

The Domestic Cup objective is to reach the Semifinal.
The League objective qualify for the Champions Cup.
The European Cup objective is to reach the Final.

    BPL Match
    Newcastle 2 - 0 Hull City
    Townsend 55’
    Saivet 72’

    MOTM Townsend

We didn’t look great in the first half, but Townsend scored the first goal when he cut in and finessed far post. We got another one twenty minutes before full time. Saivet smashed home from the top of the box after the ball fell to him from a corner.

    European Cup Match
    Newcastle 1 - 0 Austria Wien
    Wijnaldum 79’ (PEN)

    MOTM Almer

So we got the win, but Olympiakos didn’t win which means that we will not be advancing into the knockout stages.

    BPL Match
    West Ham 0 - 2 Newcastle
    Armstrong 34’ 77’
    Oxford (RED) 38

    MOTM Perez

    BPL Match

    Newcastle 1 - 1 Manchester City
    Iheanacho 31’
    Correa 49’

    MOTM Dier

We faced the league leaders at our house and I think we should have gotten all three points. They opened the scoring from a header after Navas crossed in. Correa would see that we ended their 8 game win streak when he finished a 1v1.

    BPL Match
    Newcastle 0 - 1 Manchester United
    Martial 44’

    MOTM Valdes

In the 30’ I thought for sure we would go ahead when we got a penalty but Valdes guessed the right way and saved Wijnaldum’s shot. Martial scored the sole goal in this game off a header when Shaw crossed the ball from the left side. This is our first league loss this season.

    BPL Match
    Sunderland 1 - 0 Newcastle
    Lens 67’

    MOTM Lens

Two league losses in a row. Even more disappointing that it was against Sunderland. Lens scored the only goal of the game when a poor clearance fell to him and he had no pressure and he had enough time to take a touch then smash it past Krul.

    Table:

    Thoughts:

This was a tough month for us, knock out of the European Cup and recorded our first two losses in the league. We are still in a good position in the league and we have still have a shot at winning the league if we can find some good form.

At this point I like our squad and I’m not sure we will make any additions in the transfer window but you never know and we may look for a signing or two if the price is right.

      The Roster
      Spoiler

      Starting XI (4-4-2 Diamond Wide)

      Martinez

      Odubajo/Komar/Blackett/Binnom-Williams

      Ince

      Giles ------------------ B. Moore

      Gordon

      Thuram ------- McKay

      ___________________________________

      J. Paint Trophy - Round Two
      Dagenham - Newport County (1-3)
      McClure 34'
      Giles 37' (Odubajo)
      Gles 53' (B. Moore)
      Ringdal Støvland 77' (Thuram)

The Daggers played The Exiles pretty evenly in the first half but were unable to keep up in their performance in the second half, eventually losing to Newport by a final of 1-3. Jack Giles was the start of the night, scoring twice including on this gorgeous prepped play from a corner kick

      <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/cFEDzIpd_uU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

      League Match 11
      Newport County - Gillingham (0-1)
      Dack 78'
Gordon 45' (Hyperextended knee, out 3 weeks)

Bradley Dack scored on a wide open header after receiving the ball off a save by Emiliano Martinez and Joe Day, former Exiles goalkeeper, did not encounter much of an attack from a Newport squad that was only able to shoot twice in this game. To make matters worse, Gordon's injury will test the squad at CAM where Giles will move to in order to avoid forcing Konsta Salo into extended starts (since he has low stamina). Ben Potter will fill in at RM in the meantime.

      League Match 12
Notts County - Newport County (0-2)
      B. Moore 28' (Binnom-Williams)
      Thuram 48' (Binnom Williams)

      Thuram 2'
      Giles 52'

It was an excellent job by the Exiles of jumping to a lead in the first third of the game then hanging on to that lead and even adding to it after the red card to Giles (who keeps finding ways to miss games). Binnom-Williams played a great game from the left back position, assisting twice and being heavily involved on both ends.

      League Match 13
Newport County - Southend United (3-2)
      Thuram 14' (McKay)
      Timlin 24'
      Thuram 64' (pen)
      Araba 76'
      Thuram 80' (pen)

Marcus Thuram scored his first career hat trick to lead The Exiles to a hard-earned victory over The Shrimpers who have been lurking behind Newport in the standings for a while now. Southend twice evened up the score (once in each half) but the French strike for Newport was surgical from the penalty strike, scoring in both opportunities.

      League Match 14
Coventry City - Newport County (2-2)
      Odubajo 3' (Binnom-Williams)
      Rose 34'
      Rose 45'
      Giles 68' (Thuram)

Newport County was unable to manage and hold on to a very early lead and ended up scrapping for a draw on their visit to a hungry Coventry City squad. The Exiles got all of their shots on target but were only able to fire off four, while the home squad fired off three times and scored both times they were on target.

      Spoiler

      League Match 15
      Newport County - Peterborough (3-1)
      Gordon 39' (Ince)
      Washington 70'
      Thuram 72' (McKay)
      Salo 81' (Odubajo)

The visiting team looked poised to steal at least a point at Rodney Parade, playing The Exiles evenly for most of the match but Newport County was able to break through for a couple of scores in the last 20 minutes of the game - responding Peterborough's score almost immediately - to keep the three points at home. It was a deserved win for Marccelino's squad which fired off 11 shots (8 on goal).

      Top Scorers
      1 - Winnall (Barnsley) - 10
      T2 - MacDonald (Oxford United) - 8
      T2 - Nahuelpan (Coventry City) - 8

      T3 - Thuram (Newport County) - 7

      Assists
      1 - McKay (Newport County) - 6
      2 - Sawyers (Walsall) - 5
      T3 - Maynard (MK Dons) - 4

      Clean Sheets
      1 - Martin (MK Dons) - 8

      T2 - Piedrahita (Luton Town) - 5

      ...
      T4 - Martinez (Newport County) - 3

Review: Other than the goose egg against Gillingham it was a very good month. We moved on in the JPT which I want to win to confirm we're the best club in the League 1/League 2 and we also continue to breathe down MK Dons' neck going into a month in which we'll finally face off against them. In the meantime we also gained some breathing room between us and Southend who went from undefeated to losing three games this month, one of those defeats coming against us which was huge for us. That particular game also seems to have confirmed that Thuram has successfully replaced Manuel Arteaga which makes me think twice about acquiring a striker in the winter versus letting Thuram/McKay continue to develop while we continue to get results. I'm a bit more concerned about a defense on pace to give up 55 goals in league play when we only gave up 41 last season. Yes, we're playing on a higher tier but it's still a concern especially when you consider we're also on pace to score about 20 goals less than last season. When typing the last sentence I reconsider the importance of bringing in a striker in the transfer window. I'm torn. Never mind that this is all likely hanging on whether we get some kind of offer for someone first because otherwise I don't expect the board to help us a whole lot.

There's not much to report on our academy other than to give you updates on our youth players, although if you actually read these you may note a significant change in one of our prospects:

      - Gregorio Miranda (LB,60 OVR, 81-87): The now 17-year old from Argentina is actually right-footed and may project as an option at RB. Pace-wise he's currently similar to Fernandes in that he's close to average although he has better acceleration (and obviously isn't as advanced in his overall development).
      - Hikaru Ichigawa (CDM, 62 OVR, 79-85): Our top prospect from Japan currently stands at 5'5" and 150lbs and he's one of our top prospects in the academy. He possesses good physical skills and has been using those to improve his game as a defender. The club seems to be in no hurry to promote him as his skill set seems similar to Dall'Oglio's.
      - David Fox (RM, 61 OVR, 78-84): 16-year old from Scotland has very good agility and our scouts are very pleased by his progress in the academy last season which may lead to promotion at some point this season.
      - Yoshi Ishinomori (CM, 45 OVR, 75-89): The 17-year old from Japan is a commanding physical presence standing at 6'5" and 189lbs and the club will try to develop his skill set to quickly match his physical abilities.
      - Hayato Matsuki (GK, 60 OVR,75-81): This Japanese prospect was the first goalkeeper to join the academy and after recently turning 17 he now stands 6'7" and 196lbs, making him a very special prospect for the club. His potential may not be as high as we initially thought but he has been working hard in the academy, impressing coaches and improving his skillset (AND his potential is higher than any other GK in the game with his measurements).
      - Bondz Laslie (CB, 53 OVR, 74-82): 18-year old from England who seems like a carbon copy of Tafari Hunt who was recently promoted, and we hope he'll develop his game as quickly.
      - Daniel Seager (CM, 54 OVR, 76-82): After recently turning 17 this Englishman decided to focus on using his 6-feet, 176-pound frame towards being a defensive midfielder to maximize some of his best attributes such as strength and aggression.
      - Satoshi Kagome (CDM, 46 OVR, 75-83): 17-year old from Japan who is physically strong. Coaches will look to develop him into more than just a defensive stopper.
      - Eiichi Suzuki (GK, 57 OVR, 76-82): The 16-year old from Japan represents the second keeper signed by the club and will battle with his countryman in the academy.
      - Juan Pablo (LW, 57 OVR, 72-78): The final evaluation for this Argentinian prospect is that the 17-year old's potential isn't as high as initially thought. Still, he possesses very good quickness and swiftness and his outstanding skills in short spaces could be a weapon of value for us.
      * Recent addition.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Moose - Lacazette has really been stunning for you so far while Dybala has been unlucky with his chances like against Man United, although he did well to score against Norwich. Good job getting to the FA Cup final and I believe that you can win the cup. Amazing win against Man Utd after a stunning performance, by the way!

I think a 4-4-2 classic or a 4-2-2-2 could work well for you as Rabbit and Cruzerr said. Personally, I enjoy both of those formations a lot on this game.

Rabbit - A few dropped points in October but you are still doing a great job in the league and probably getting that automatic promotion at the end of the season! It looks like the whole squad has been performing well but Thuram especially has been very good. I'm very surprised that you took an international management offer, and even more surprised that it was the Finland offer, but I'm looking forward to see how you do with them in the World Cup! It will be tough for me to root for you due to personal dislike of Finland, though :P

Yanks - What a shame to go out of the Europa League! On the bright side, your schedule won't be that packed in the second half of the season. It sucks to see you lose two consecutive games in league play, too. Luckily you are still in a very good position in the league. Now all you need is some consistency and good form. I believe in you! Also, it seems like Townsend has been doing quite well for you this season while the other attackers have been fading.

You said that you aren't looking to bring anyone but if you become interested in a central midfielder I'd recommend Hertha's (what a surprise) Vladimir Darida. Great player with amazing stamina, good passing and good shooting. Very good work rates, too. As far as strikers go (because that is seeming like a small problem), you could always try to get Doumbia back to the club or you could try to get the experienced Salomon Kalou of Hertha (again, what a surprise) back to England. He is getting older but he shouldn't be decreasing too much. Furthermore, he is very clinical with very good dribbling.

Cruzerr - Good performances in the pre-season tournament to lift the (pretty meaningless) trophy! I'm really looking forward to this career and it's good to have you back! Very nice screenshots, too! Also, how did you deal with the first season? Did you simulate it or play through it or...?

Keano - So far you have done a great job with Accrington! Henry looks like a very good signing with a lot of potential on him! I'm looking forward to your long journey to the top of Europe!

Cabee - Wow, what a magnificent season you had! Huuuge congratulations on winning the treble, it's not an easy thing to do! 101 points in the league, that is amazing! Compton and Ronaldo were great for you this season. You must feel so good thinking about how far you have come with Exeter! I really hope that you keep this career going after the World Cup with England! Good luck there!

SMH - Nothing to comment on in league play apart from those two draws. At this point I'm only looking forward to the Copa del Rey final because that is the only important game that is left this season. You have just been so dominant in the league! A 25-point gap to second-placed Almeria, damn.

Tex - Remember that update you promised us three weeks ago?

Chico - Don't you dare disappear again!

Before I say anaything, I'd like to say thanks for the reactions to my recent updates of my Exeter City CM. I really appreciate all you lot have said and just putting up with my constant updates.

The initial aim of my save was to win the treble with Exeter (the best team in the world! ) and i've done that. I've realised that ever since I won the BPL with Exeter for the first time, my aim changed; it's now to complete the full 15 seasons of CM and now I need you guys to tell me where you want me to go next or stay for that matter. I'll stay with England and I'll prepare to try and win the World Cup no matter what is chosen.

                  Do you want me to:
                  - Continue complete domination with Exeter?
                  - Move to a foreign club?
                  - Go to another club in England and knock Exeter off their perch?

If you have suggestions feel free to make them known! I've been eyeing the Fulham job now that they have wealthy owners but it might be hard to get them to offer me a job.

I'll put up a strawpoll and see what happens; i'm totally fine with whatever you guys choose. If you have a particular club in mind please say.

damn I'm torn. It's been fun to watch you turn Exeter into the force they are now so going for the 15 years there seems good but on the other hand you've made them so dominant that maybe you should go elsewhere for a challenge. With your resume it still needs to be one of the bigger clubs in Europe. Whether it's in England isn't necessarily a deal breaker to me. I think I'm leaning towards you moving on from Exeter

Well, Cabee, I find this simple. You won the treble, congratulations, now go do it again!

Honestly, I feel like the best way would be that you would give it another shot, and try to repeat it. Always more difficult. If you manage it, then swap clubs next season. Just my two cents.

I back this idea! Has a back to back treble been done before?

Sixth goal in the league for Lukaku - top of the leaderboard.

                          My thoughts

Rocky Road - Not going to lie, we haven't played well nor bad. Currently I feel like the team isn't performing badly, yet not up to its level. We get results by having Lukaku bail us out in the end, which I am all for, but we need to get the ball moving and getting other midfielders involved in the scoring end.

Our transfers - As you might have seen from the updated post, there are a few new names in the team. Loris Karius is our new goalkeeper, and currently, he has not impressed me too much. Inconsistant, has games where he just is stellar (debut game against United) and then completely bottles it (against Middlesbrough).

Antonio Rüdiger is also a new name as a back-up now, future starting centerback and I am loving his contribution. Tough, quick and not bad on the ball aswell. His only problem is a bit different, which I will address below.

And the problem child, Ravel Morrison. I intended to bring in Morrison as a backup for Barkley and Mirallas, but the timing for him could have not been better. So far, hasn't played much since he was a late signing, but is agile on the pitch. The problem I have with him and Deulofeu is that they are both fantastic dribblers, it is just that I am not used to playing with those kind of players. Will still try my best.

Injuries - Here is why bringing in Morrison was a good idea. Kevin Mirallas has picked up an injury, as he broke his toe and missed pretty much the whole two months of action (only played the United game) and is still scheduled to come back in two weeks.

On the other hand, Ross Barkley pulled his quad and missed 3 weeks of action, but should return pretty soon.

As for Rüdiger, this pains me the most, but he picked up a injury in training, breaking his tailbone. He will be out for the next 4 months, which is just horrible, as he really did impress me right from the start.

Other Transfers - I listed the biggest transfers from this transfer season here. Take a look!

Suarez to Bayern - 69,5 mil
Özil to PSG - 50,5 mil
Eriksen to Valencia - 33 mil
Laporte to Chelsea - 29,5 mil
Thiago to Liverpool - 28,5 mil
Matic to Atl. Madrid - 26,5 mil
Martinez to Juventus - 23 mil
Musacchio to Crystal Palace - 18,5 mil
Gimenez to Liverpool - 17 mil
Karius to Everton - 17 mil
Bernard to Burnley - 15 mil
Berahino to Middlesbrough - 14 mil
Arnautovic to Napoli - 13,5 mil

I hope you enjoyed it, please, if you have any feedback, leave it! Take care!

I'd like to see you move on and see if you could replicate your dominance with a new club also I think it would be cool to see you try and outperform Exeter so I feel like you should move to an other club in England.

I'm pretty disappointed to get knocked out in the group stage but I guess that is what I get for trying to rest players in most of those games. Townsend has stepped up recently and made the right mid spot all his that is for sure. Correa is leading the scoring charts for the league though so don't count him out. The attack that has been most disappointing is Wijnaldum this season. Last year he scored lots of goals but he has lacked the finishing touch this year. He gets in good positions but doesn't finish them.

Darida looks like a excellent player! I will look at bringing him in for sure. As for forwards I tried to bring Doumbia back in the summer but they sold him to Wolfsburg so I don't think I will be able to bring him in. I don't know much about Kalou and will have to scout him. Thanks for the suggestions!

Agreed. Liga Adelante has gotten very stale. I just sleepwalk through the matches for the most part. Luckily the Copa Final and Liga BBVA are just around the corner. Conceding 7 goals all season is crazy. Thanks for the comments!

I've been thinking about doing a re-boot of an Aston Villa career mode, I really enjoyed the 10 or so episodes I did a few months back, I started an Everton career mode then took some time off FIFA, I find it harder to get into Everton career mode maybe because the team on FIFA is decent and Villa was a battle to avoid relegation and rebuild so the challenge was fun!...

I'm catching up on all of your careers and the few new one's that have started!, tho i am upto date with the Moose's West Ham dynasty...I see problems brewing in the locker room between manager and Dybala Haha, What a controversial signing this has become! haha....Moose - have you thought about moving Lacazette too the RW?...something different? his crossing might be a bit low but he has the pace to burn away from opponents
