    FIFA 16 - Season 1

    Les Grenats

    September 2015

    Nimes Olympique 0 - 3 FC Metz
    FCM - Santos 32', Krivets 59', Ngbakoto 87' (PEN)
    MOTM: Didillon

Match Summary: Santos got the ball and wove his way into the box to get his chance to shoot back across to the far post and settled it perfectly in the top right corner. Mayi blocked a clearance by the keeper and was able to come down with the ball and play it outside for Krivets who shot it into the open net. Mayi got into the box on the right side and tried to send a cross to the far post when Zarabi slid through his legs to concede a penalty and earn himself a sending off. Ngbakoto stepped to the spot and converted easily into the top left corner.

    FC Metz 3 - 1 AJ Ajaccio
    FCM - Mayi 27', Ngbakoto 67' (PEN), Sao 87'
    AJA - Cavalli 30'
    MOTM: Metanire

Match Summary: Santos' shot was deflected wide and Candeias was running in on the right side to get to it and cross it on the ground to the far post where Mayi got away from his defender and tapped it in for his first goal in a Metz shirt. Just minutes later Didillon made a diving punch to get the ball away but unfortunately he pushed it right to Cavalli who fired it right back into the net. Mayi pushed the ball around Cisse but Cisse still slid in for the challenge taking out Mayi and missing the ball to concede a penalty. Ngbakoto easily finished the penalty into the top left corner. Metanire got free down the right wing and he crossed the ball into the box where Sao was able to get up and head the ball into the top right corner back on the near post.

    AS Nancy 0 - 1 FC Metz
    FCM - Reis 57'
    MOTM: Reis 57'

Match Summary: Metz controlled the entire game despite being the away side. Didillon had to make only a couple saves and nothing troubled him too much throughout the entire match. On the other side Metz kept a persistent pressure on the goal and the breakthrough came in the 57th minute when Metanire won the ball in the attacking third and kept his run going forward down the right wing to send a low cross in where Reis had made a good run in on the near post and he slotted it through the keeper's legs and into the back of the net.

    FC Metz 1 - 0 Valenciennes FC
    FCM - Mayi 36'
    MOTM: Didillon

Match Summary: Another strong performance as FC Metz still remains perfect on the season so far. They got on the board in the first half When Mayi intercepted a bad touch by Yamissi and took full advantage to get around the last defender on the right side of the goal and power a shot into the upper corner on the near post. The rest of the match was fairly uneventful with a few more chances coming from Metz, but their defense continued to assert the dominance it has shown all season and they were rarely tested inside their own third.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

time to catch up on some of your CM's (up to post 14350):

Tex, I've been trying to keep tabs on your Sheffield CM. You know I'm keeping an eye on Townsend and it looks to me like he's been a key piece for you but your big time scorer seems to be Abraham. He's with you on loan, right? When does that end and what's your plan at that point? You're doing better than I expected in your first season in the BPL after an impressive October. On the other hand Metz is an interesting choice, as you've already noted there's a Venezuelan on your roster who might be useful for you once he's back from loan though I assume Mayi will be your horse up front going forward. It seemed to easy for you in August lol.

10, talk about too easy, you'd think you have been at Newcastle for several seasons given the dominance in September. Looks like your signings have really paid off. I think I speak for everyone when I say I look forward to the match-up against Exeter.

Indi, dominant pre-season with Nott'm, Veldwijk and Antonio looked dominant based on that report.

Chico, welcome officially back. Did I miss the part where you talked about summer transfers or did we skip that? Rough start in the league but at least you've had a good start in cup play, both of those games looked insane. Loving the CM and waiting for more of it.

Lukester, even though Dortmund is a big club we don't usually see CM's with them so sort of dig the choice. Dembele/Bartra are solid acquisitions but I was a bit shocked to see you sell Hummels. You had a nice start to the season and hopefully you can keep that up.

Moose, I caught up on your vids. From the previous one somehow I had assumed you were no longer interested in Rondon so I was surprised to see he was your final acquisition, I look forward to watching him on your CM of course. Your crush on Sergi cracks me up. It's interesting how Dybala has gone back to being a goal scorer now that he's back at striker lol. Finally what a tough group you were drawn into in the CL. Barca/Milan/PSV? YIKES! Definitely something to look forward to!

SMH, so now we're at Avellino, I barely know anything about them. But hey you're undefeated and in 2nd place so that's awesome. I guess I need to get some more updates on this CM to get more hyped about it. Maybe I'll do some research on the team.

Cruzerr, I'm down to follow a player CM so long as it's something you want to stick with. I was shocked you lost interest in Everton.

I do apologize I'm to those CM's I'm not able to comment on at the moment. I'll try to keep up with them more going forward. We're posting at a rapid pace and work has kept me so busy. Plus I'm still behind (playing ahead) on updating my CM's.

        My Thought's

Overall the performances have been very good, we have made ourselves very hard to beat and look on track to meet the boards objectives but I know that we can do a lot better than this. We are solid in midfield and at the back but just lack a killer instinct in front of goal. We have only managed 6 goals in the league all season which makes us the lowest scorers in the division which is slightly worrying, we are just lucky we are not conceding many otherwise we could be in some serious trouble. Once we can start taking our chances I know we can be a real threat to anyone in the division. There hasn't really been any real stand out performers at the moment but more a collective team performance which is good to see.

Thanks For Reading, Any Comments Are Appreciated

I realize I didn't clarify it well but I brought him in on a loan to buy in January of last season and I exercised the option once the season was over so he's officially part of Sheffield United! Townsend has been an unbelievable form and it only gets better believe me!

As for Metz, Ligue 2 has certainly been a bit easy so far so I'm hoping that some point it will start to be a little more challenging.

              Newport County A.F.C.

              Position Battles

              Right Midfielder

              ____________________________________________

Giles has been the starter at RM for the Exiles over the last season and a half but his fellow academy-graduate Potter came on strong last season and is closing the gap. While Potter offers "great" potential, Giles has produced well for Newport County since joining the senior roster and has improved every season so he may be a tough out for Potter to get.

Unfortunately for Potter, Giles is usually able to turn in a full shift therefore Potter's playing time is usually limited to appearances with the B-squad. However, in an effort to get him more playing time Marccelino is starting to mix Potter in as the backup CAM, rotating him with Hwang In Beom off the bench to spell Clark Gordon.
              ____________________________________________

              (Backup) Central Defensive Midfielder

              ____________________________________________

As good as Rohan Ince has been for The Exiles since his arrival a season ago he's usually subbed out for the last 25 or so minutes of the game because of the strenuous tasks he's asked to do as the lone CDM in the diamond midfield, running box to box and sideline to sideline. Therefore, having a backup CDM is key for this roster and Newport County has done of good job of developing such players through its academy, with both players listed "showing great potential". Dall'Oglio has been on the roster almost a season longer than Ichigawa but as you can see their skill set is very similar so this competition is neck to neck. Due to his slight seniority Dall'Oglio has been getting the nod as the starter with the B-squad (Ichigawa always subs in for him in the last 25-30 minutes) but when it comes to subbing in for Ince they have been rotating.
              ____________________________________________

              (Backup) Striker

              ____________________________________________

While Ringdal Støvland is "an exciting prospect", one of the club's top-rated prospects overall, Miller has done a great of job of holding him off in the depth chart with his performances. Youth coaches were unable to get a full evaluation on Miller before he was promoted to the senior roster but some of them still believe he has "great" potential. While he isn't the physical specimen his competitor is, Miller makes up for it with his excellent ball control and dribbling and his slightly better performances have earned him a spot on the bench for the The Exiles while Ringdal Støvland gets nearly all of his playing time as a starter with the B-squad (alongside Miller). All that being said, everyone fully expects the Norwegian prospect to eventually overtake Miller in the depth chart as he rises to become a top striker for the club, but until he actually takes that step Miller will continue to give him all he can handle in this competition.

                Luton Town FC
                September 2016 - Season 1

Capital One Cup - Round 3
                Luton Town 2 - 0 Rochdale
                LUT: Mackail-Smith 59' 90'
Luton Town continue to fight in the cup against all odds, this time defeating League 1 side Rochdale with a firm 2-0 score line. The Scotsman Mackail-Smith opened the score line with a strong and well placed header in the 59th minute which marked the 4th match in a row where he has found the net.

It appears Mackail-Smith has finally found his form and became the striker Chavez has demanded him to become in his 4-1-4-1 system. To top it off, he scored again in the final minute of the match to secure the win against a determined Rochdale that had Luton against the ropes in the closing minutes.

                Luton Town 1 - 2 Yeovil Town
YEO: Zoko PEN 32' Lita 45'
                LUT: Mackail-Smith 83'
Once again, Luton get a big win in the cup and are then received by a heart breaking defeat in the league. It has already become customary to see Luton lose after they win in the cup. The only good thing that came from this match was that Mackail-Smith scored AGAIN - marking his 5th consecutive match in which he has found the net thanks to a quick counter attack from a corner.

                Dagenham & Redbridge 0 - 3 Luton Town (B-Team)
                LUT: Pigott 19' Lawless 43' Mpanzu 78'
Luton are struggling in the lower half of the table but the B-Team travelled to Dagenham and got the job done. The young target striker Joe Pigott opened the score line followed by the experienced Lawless with a goal into the top right corner. It was shocking to see a completely alternative lineup for Luton dominate Dagenham, but the real surprise came in the 78th minute as the young central midfielder Mpanzu made his debut under Chavez as a substitute and the first time he touched the ball he managed to put it into the back of the net. Mpanzu came into the match as a left midfielder but he did not look uncomfortable there. He dribbled past his marker, cut inside, and then took a powerful shot to the far post to make it 3-0 for Luton.

                Luton Town 2 - 1 Barnet
                LUT: O'Donnell 35' Cuthbert 75'
                BAR: Johnson 50'
For the first time this season, Luton Town won their 2nd match in a row. Chavez fielded his strongest lineup, but they were just barely able to secure the win. O'Donnell scored the first goal after netting a rebound during a corner, but five minutes into the second half Barnet equalized during a corner as well. Fifteen minutes later, Luton retook the lead with the captain Cuthbert scoring during another corner except, this was a perfectly struck header not a rebound like O'Donnell's. The fact that all three goals scored came from corners reflects how tight this match was.

                Northampton Town 1 - 5 Luton Town (B-Team)
                NHT: Byrom 10'
                LUT: Marriott 22' 31' 70' Pigott 50' Bakinson 81'

Northampton received Luton planning to redeem themselves from that humiliating 6-2 defeat in the Capital One Cup, but their revenge was postponed and they fell to yet another big defeat from Luton. Chavez was already confident going into the match by starting another alternative line up, beginning to be called the B-Team since it's always the same alternate 11, and it looked like it could have been a wrong decision from the manager since Northampton opened the scoreline in just 10 minutes. In the 22nd minute, the young striker Marriott equalized the match in a 1 on 1 with the keeper after a beautifully executed wall pass with Pigott, and he then completed a brace in the 31st minute with a long shot that was deflected by a Northampton defender. Joe Pigott would get a goal himself in the 50th minute by netting a dead ball inside the box, and Marriott would then complete his hat trick in the 70th minute making Northampton's 2nd humiliating defeat a reality. Bakinson made his debut under Chavez tonight as a substitute, and his determination to impress his manager paid off in the 80th minute when he scored the 5th goal off a header from a corner. The stadium was silent, and the local fans weren't heard until the 90th minute when they booed the players off the pitch.

Capital One Cup - Round 4
                Luton Town 0 - 0 Reading

Luton Town managed to hold the superior Reading using the same strategy they've been using in all cup matches: do not let them shoot. That is the message from Chavez, most likely recognizing the fact that the squad does not have a keeper they can rely on. Luton's instructions are to force the opposition into taking long shots by not letting them step into the box and then blocking those long shots before they reach the keeper. The strategy worked yet again, with Reading looking real good on the ball but never able to finish their attacks against a strong, organized Luton defense. The only downside to Luton's game today, is that Mackail-Smith was not able to create much danger up front and the two sides finished 0-0 after 120 minutes of football. The winner would have to be declared after a penalty shootout.
                Spoiler

                Luton Town 3 - 0 Oxford United
                LUT: Mackail-Smith 9' McQuoid 76' 82'
For the first time this season, Luton won in a cup match and won the following league match. We were already accustomed to seeing Luton lose every time they came from a cup fixture. Chavez made a change to his regular starting lineup, benching the Northern Ireland international McQuoid, who has been playing out of position at RM and not been playing well there. To replace him at RM, Chavez selected the previous hat trick hero Marriott who is also naturally a striker. Mackail-Smith scored the first goal in the 9th minute and after that the match was more of a tactical battle than a box to box game. Close to the end of the second half Chavez took Mackail-Smith out and subbed in McQuoid to play in his natural position. Marriott, who had replaced him in the starting lineup, hadn't done much until Oxford went all out attack and he found spaces on the wing to dribble forward. McQuoid would score his first and second goal of the season in the 76th and 82nd minute, both assisted by the same man who replaced him in the starting lineup.

                Player Injured
Central midfielder Olly Lee (England, 62 OVR) had to leave the Oxford match in the second half with a painful shoulder injury. After the match the club released an official statement that the player had very unfortunately dislocated his shoulder and will be out of action for approximately 8 weeks. There is still no word on who will replace Lee in the lineup, but during the match the player that came on from the bench was the Welshman Lawless. Lee may not be the most talented midfielder for Luton, but he is still a key player in Chavez's 4-1-4-1 intended to play as a box to box midfielder. Luton have found themselves in fantastic form but this may yet affect their performance on the field.

Luton Town Player of The Month

                ST - Mackail-Smith (67 OVR 31yrs)
Without a doubt, my best player this month has been the Scotsman Mackail-Smith. I voiced my doubts about him in my last update, but this month he has left me no choice but to confide in him completely. Joe Pigott has really been pushing for a starting spot but Mackail-Smith finally stepped up this month. He may not be the target man I want him to be, but he is very talented nonetheless and has been scoring regularly for us. He's become a very important part of our game so I hardly ever sub him out. I wanted to look for a striker in the next transfer window, but it appears we already have one.

                Conclusion
Now that's better! With Mackail-Smith finally making his break we're in a playoff spot for the first time. Believe it or not, we're actually the top scoring team in the league at the moment too! The 5 goals the B-Team scored against Northampton made us the best attack in the league although it doesn't really reflect our gameplay IMO. We had a couple high scoring games but I wouldn't say our attack is the most dangerous one in the league. We have a busy month coming up, with a match against League One side Chesterfield in the J.Paint, an important league match against 6th place Bristol Rovers, and most importantly a Capital One Cup fixture against Aston Villa. Villa may not be the strongest top tier team, but they will be the first Premier League side we face. It'll be a good test to see where we stand competitively.

I know I said the goalkeeper position is our weakest, but I've actually been very surprised with both of our keeper's performances. I am rotating them with the player training designating one slot for one of them each week and they have been growing steadily. Justham, who has been playing the best, has grown +4 for an OVR of 54 while the 18 year old King has grown +6 for an OVR of 54 as well. I've been leaning more towards the more experienced Justham and he's been playing extremely well. As I mentioned in my last update, our objective is to not let the opposition shoot and the few times they've been able to get a shot on target Justham has made amazing saves. Granted he's saving the shots with his forearm or his shoulder etc but they are saves nonetheless! Mackail-Smith has led me to believe that we may not need another striker in the transfer window. Will Justham do the same for the goalkeeper position?

                Until next time,
                Thanks For Reading!

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Aquaman: Man, there was a lot of hitting the woodwork both in your favor and against it haha. I love watching your game play. Your ball movement is really impressive and some of your goals just have beautiful build ups. Some bad luck in that Shrewsbury game where they just seemed to get past you at will. Overall though sitting at 5th is a pretty good spot to be in right now.

Showy: Glad to see you switch it up if you weren't enjoying your Dortmund career. Hope Hamburg is the one you end up feeling is right! Lots of draws, but also some really nice wins sprinkled in to start off. Sitting at 8th is good though and you have a lot of season left to climb up and challenge for a European spot.

vrabbit: Goals galore! What a start to the year, you are just banging in goals at will. The exception being that Wolves game of course. It looks to me like you will do just fine in the Championship. Heck, if you keep performing like that you could see yourself promoted as champions.

10cabee: Well that was a perfect month. Is it weird playing in the Europa League after getting so used to the Champions League while at Exeter? Also their new manager clearly can't fill your shoes Obviously still really early, but you already have Newcastle off on the right foot to take up where you left off with Exeter. I am interested to see if you end up going with a 2 striker set up or keep trying to find time for both Sanogo and Seager with only the 1 spot.

Indi: So I almost started a career with Forest at on point, and even played through a month to see if I wanted to roll it out. I absolutely LOVED Veldwijk. I used him off the bench mostly and brought him in late in games when I needed goals and just started throwing crosses into the box to let him do what he does best. I'm not surprised at all by the success he's had with you so far! Very impressive performance all around for you in the European Shield. Can't wait to see what you do in league play.

Chico: You struggle putting the ball into the back of the net to start the season, and then your B-team comes out and drops 6 on Northampton. Sounds like some of your starters might start getting a little nervous about their spot in the XI. Unbelievable that 4 of those 6 were all in extra time. It's great to see you getting updates out once again!

Moose: Can't believe you got 3 penalties in your favor in just 1 game lol. Wow 6M for Dier is unbelievable. I feel like he should have been a lot more than that! Still crazy to see Reid leaving your team. I probably would have gone with Batshuayl due to his age and how much better he would still get, but I get your reasoning for going with Rondon, but those prices are crazy! I'm used to lower league money so I can't imagine having all of that to throw around haha. Needless to say, your transfer window videos never disappoint. That Champions League group though.

SMH: Unbeaten on the month which is good and only dropped some points in 2 of the matches. I always love following your careers since you tend to use these lesser used leagues and it brings a really good variety to what we have here. Side note: I can't stand when someone I just bought gets hurt right away! Feels like such a waste and especially since they are usually brought in to fill a big need lol.

JHedges: That was a huge goal from Benteke, and it's always beautiful to score a stoppage time winner. The through ball for the assist was beautiful and you really pushed the line on him being offside but your timing was perfect. That win could be huge though since those are the teams you expect to take 3 points from, and it can be haunting when you don't.

Josh4: Up and down on the month. Started out with Moose's Hammers getting the better of you, and an unfortunate draw to Watford after that. You got a solid win in the Capital One Cup so you live to see another day there which is always nice. But let's talk about this Chelsea game... You came out with an unbelievable first half and really asserted yourself for what looked like was a turnaround in your season. And then the last 2 minutes happened. I can only imagine how painful that was, and I can assure you a controller might have been thrown if it was me!

Simppu: What would your comrades say about you continuing to bring in Americans for your team Shocked that you sold Werner, but you had been hinting at it after all so I really shouldn't be surprised. Kempe looks like an amazing signing on a free and of course I have no objections to the Bobby Wood signing. Just 1 match so not much to comment on there, but your still pretty secure at the top of the table.

Sportsfreak: Top of the table doesn't lie, you are having an impressive season so far without a doubt. I just have to look at your squad in awe. You have so much talent and potential on there. Sucks that you lost your original version, but I'm glad you were able to throw this one out there for us still.

Chico: Damn Chico, you managed to sneak an update in on me while I was going through doing my comments! I think it's safe to say Mackail-Smith found his form. Your B team put up another massive performance. That gives them games with 6 and 5 goals respectively. I mentioned it last time, but now it seems even more so that some of your starters should be feeling some pressure about losing their spot.

Haha, we're just in really good form at the moment i reckon... I'm really looking forward to the Exeter matchup also and I've decided I'll do a one-match post for the occasion too!

It really was the best possible start for my first couple of months at Newcastle! It's not too weird playing in the Europa league but there's relative pressure knowing that the board will be p*ssed if i don't win it.

Haha yeah, Oakley hasn't been doing very well with Exeter. I think EA have ruined them after witnessing them losing to Crystal Palace 1-0... At least I made them a solid mid-table team compared to what they were in league 2.

Interesting...to be honest, I haven't really thought of going for a 2 striker setup. Although, I won't really have any decent backup strikers if I choose to do that though. I might be testing out the 3-1-4-2 if i decide I want to test it out.

                        The Roster

                        Spoiler

                        Starting XI (4-1-2-1-2)

                        Maisonnial

                        Cools/Mabiala/Alonso/Tigiev

                        Sow

                        Çağlayan --------------- Biseswar

                        Türüç

                        Peñaranda ------- Stojiljković

                        ______________________________

                        League Match 3
                        Eskişehirspor - Kayserispor (3-0)
                        Čaušić 6'
                        Lawal 29'
                        Bekdemir 81'

I guess we were due for this. After managing nothing but draws to start the season we finally broke down in this game. It wasn't for lack of trying but Ali Şaşal Vural went beast mode on us, collecting 10 saves for a 9.5 game rating. Rough.

                        League Match 4
                        Kayserispor - Konyaspor (3-0)
                        Biseswar 55'
                        Peñaranda 58' (Türüç)
                        Çağlayan 90' (Türüç)

                        Özbek 79'

Very proud of our guys for this one. We bounced back not just from the trouncing we got in the previous game but also from a very poor first half in which we only attempted one shot (off target) to put 6 of our 7 shots on target in the second half, of course scoring three goals in the process. Excellent response and our first win of the season which hopefully will lead to more good results going forward.

Euro League - Group Match 1
                        Tottenham - Kayserispor (1-2)
                        Dembélé 37'
                        Peñaranda 61'
                        Biseswar 80' (Stojiljković)

                        Türüç 63'

We shocked Europe at White Hart Lane as we kept our composure after Dembélé's header off a corner kick in the first half to keep the Spurs within reach. Peñaranda took advantage of a Samba Sow shot saved by Hugo Lloris who poorly redirected to the middle where the Venezuelan striker was waiting. Almost 20 minutes later Stojiljković put a through pass to Biseswar down the left wing and the Dutch midfielder turned inside and dribbled all the way into the box to score the game-winner. It was actually very difficult for both teams to get many shots off and all three shots on target resulted in scores.

                        Diego Biseswar scoring the game-winner.

                        League Match 5
                        Bursaspor - Kayserispor (1-1)
                        Aziz 42'
                        Peñaranda 61' (pen)

Serda Aziz scored off a corner kick just before the half to put us in a deficit at the midway point but we battled all game long, putting all 9 of our shots on target. In the 61st minute Peñaranda was fouled inside the box and he took the kick to give us the equalizer. We should had gotten more than a point in this game.

                        League Match 6
                        Kayserispor - Galatasaray (3-0)
                        Peñaranda 18' (Biseswar)
                        Biseswar 60'
                        Türüç 70' (Cools)

We hadn't forgotten the 5-1 throbbing Galatasary put on us towards the end of last season and we were motivated by that and it showed. Not only did we beat them 3-0 but we also held them without a shot on goal on 4 shots. It was a masterful performance by us and our fans loved every second of it. The highlight of the game went to Biseswar on this free kick in the 60th minute:

Review: Outside of that humbling defeat to start the month I thought we were in pretty good form. We've actually moved up on the table and even though we're only in 9th place we're just 4 points off the league leaders and the season is still very young. I feel like we've managed the start of the season very well. The highlight of the month has to be between the revenge win against Galatasaray and our huge victory on the road against Tottenham. I think I have to give the edge to the win in the Euro League for what it may mean at the end of the group stage, it's still very early in this competition as well but we put ourselves in a really good spot to try and get past this round.

Did anyone else notice Peñaranda is on a four-game scoring streak? He's picking up right where he left off towards the end of last season so I'm really exciting about his form and how he and Stojiljković play together up front.

In academy news we've received the first reports from our scouts in Algeria, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia but we've only made one addition to our youth squad, listed below:

CB - Emre Karaer (64 OVR, 81-87): 15-year old from Turkey who is Physically Strong and displays excellent aggression (84) to the ball. We're excited about his development and in no rush to promote him until we feel he's ready.
CAM - Hamzah Al Dalharni (44 OVR, 70-94)*: 17-year old from Algeria who's very raw but offers enticing potential. We'll have more details on him as we evaluate him further.
LW - Dragen Rennich (61 OVR, 77-83): 16-year old from Croatia with good acceleration (79) and balance (75). We expect a little growth from his current frame of 5'1" and 139lbs.
LW - Javier Fernandez (56 OVR, 77-83): 17-year old from Venezuela with good pace (79 acceleration, 70 speed) that will hopefully continue to grow. Good competition for Niarkhos and Rennich in the academy.
RW - Pavel Župan (56 OVR, 76-82): 17-year old from Serbia with good acceleration (73) and agility (73). He projects as more of a role players in the future.
LW - Dragutin Puhovski (51 OVR, 71-79): 16-year old from Serbia with good pace (74 speed, 71 acceleration) and balance (72). He's a bit behind in the picking order at this position in the academy at the moment but hopefully he can catch up quickly.
RB - Fabian Lopez (58 OVR, 73-79): 17-year old from Venezuela who needs a lot of development. Doesn't possess the desired pace for the position at this point in time but hopefully he'll develop that. We don't expect him to grow taller than his current 5'11" frame so a move inside won't be an option for him.
                        * Recent addition

Athanasios Niarkhos (LM, 61 OVR) requested and was granted promotion to the senior roster where he'll continue to work on developing his game. He may become a loan prospect in the next transfer window.

There was also some activity with Venezuela this month. I'm placing a lot of importance on our friendlies at this point in time following our poor showing in the World Cup. I'm trying to put our team past that as we prepare for Copa America at the end of this season where we undoubtedly need to perform better.

                        International Friendlies

                        Canada - Venezuela (0-3)
                        S. Rondon 31' (Martinez)
                        S. Rondon 50' (Garcia)
                        Martinez 68' (Juanpi)

Although the result is certainly nice I wasn't necessarily pleased with our performance as we really ought to dominate a team like Canada a bit more. But this was definitely a step in the right direction.

                        Venezuela - Ecuardor (0-1)
                        Plata 61'

Ugh, I really didn't need a loss in home soil. Talk about performance vs result, we played much better in this game (14 shots, 9 on goal) but Ecuadorian goalkeeper Máximo Banguera was a savage, finishing with a 9.0 game rating, and Joao Plata was a pest against us on the other end finally breaking through for the only score of the game in the second half. There's still a lot of work to be done here.

                        October's Schedule:

4th: at SC Braga (Euro League)
                        7th: at Beşiktaş

Still crazy to see Reid leaving your team. I probably would have gone with Batshuayl due to his age and how much better he would still get, but I get your reasoning for going with Rondon, but those prices are crazy! I'm used to lower league money so I can't imagine having all of that to throw around haha. Needless to say, your transfer window videos never disappoint. That Champions League group though.
Yeah, seems the AI continues to fall into that trap and tackling you just inside the penalty area when you're dribbling, and as much as I try not exploit it sometimes it just happens. The Reid deal was so tough to make, but the money and age improvement for Dier was just too good to pass up! Hopefully these big buys will get us out of that Champions League group!

I still don't know why you signed Lacazette when you have him, Payet and Tello. But then I can't deal with the two strikers when 4-3-3 works so well for me. All power to you I suppose. By the way, you've just signed Sofiane Feghouli in real life. Thoughts?
Well, you can never have too many good options right? Tello has been class as a 55th minute sub offering that pace against a tired defense! The 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 has been fantastic for me, but the 4-1-2-1-2 isn't so bad either, so with the depth we have now I'm able to free lance depending on what is available to me. I'm excited about the Feghouli signing, there's no denying that he has technical quality, so hopefully we can put him in a system that will best facilitate his talents, with Payet drawing most of the attention he should have some room to operate. Having so many technically able attacking midfielders now should make us look fairly lethal!

Haha, caught you by surprise! I was so tempted to sign Bacca, but the price for someone of that age really scared me away. The Batshuayi signing would have probably made fiscal sense but I like the idea of going off the beaten path with Rondon plus he had some really tasty attributes. Sergi is just a beautiful player, what can I say! I will say that it's nice having a few top tier strikers, having some world class midfielders now, and still retaining a few fantastic wide players (Carrillo, Tello, Antonio) to give me options formation wise, especially if the injury bug hits (SPOILERS).

                                October 2015

                                Paris FC 0 - 2 FC Metz
                                FCM - Candeias 4', 66'
                                MOTM: Candeias

Match Summary: Metz didn't wait long to get started this time out. Ikaunieks used his first touch to get around a defender and then threaded the ball up the middle for Candeias running in. He took one touch to his left and then fired from the edge of the box perfectly into the top left corner. Paris then had an equalizer waved off after Fauvergue was ruled offside, and it was clear that he was off by at least 5 yards. Bamba had a bad miss just before half for the home team, and that would be the last of their chances for the rest of the match. In the second half Candeias picked up where he left off and after Ngbakoto played Mayi through up the middle he laid it off for the Portuguese winger running in on the right for the easy tap in to cap off his night.

                                FC Metz 2 - 0 FC Sochaux
                                FCM - Ngbakoto 38' (PEN), Rivierez 82'
                                MOTM: Didillon

Match Summary: Sochaux were the first to test the opposing keeper and they saw two early chances turned away by the league leader in clean sheets. Gibaud made a reckless tackle on Metanire inside the box and conceded a deserved penalty. Ngbakoto sent the penalty into the top right corner and the keeper never even moved from his spot in the middle. Toko-Ekambi saw an equalizing opportunity ruled offside just before half when he was only just a half step ahead of the last defender taking away a golden chance to turn the game back around. Neither team challenged the keeper in the second half until Mayi get free down the left and sent the ball across the box to Ikaunieks who crossed it back first time to the back post for Rivierez to head into the open net.

                                Stade Brestois 1 - 3 FC Metz
                                BRE - Fanchone 64'
                                FCM - Sao 10' (PEN), Bekamenga 45', Diallo 87'
                                MOTM: Didillon

Match Summary: Brestois barely stood a chance from the star when Sane took out Santos in the box as the last defender and was shown a read in just the 9th minute leaving his teammates to take on the league leaders with only 10 men. Sao took advantage of the mistake and converted the penalty into the top left to start off the scoring. Brestois still looked sharp the rest of the half forcing a save and hitting the post on two separate occasions, but just before the whistle Bekamenga was able to head down a cross from Leieune past the keeper as he was hurrying to get back across the goal. Even down a man though Brestois still looked to be dangerous and the aggression paid off when Fanchone was able to dribble through the defense and fire across to the bottom right corner to cut the lead in half. The pressure continued from the home side and they forced Didillon to make two huge saves, the last of which he was able to push away just enough to see it crash off the post and deflect out. With Brestois pushing for the equalizer, Didillon saw a chance to play the ball over the top for Diallo to run onto and have his first shot saved, but follow up the rebound to put the game away.

                                Coupe de Ligue
                                FC Metz 2 - 0 Stade Lavallois
                                FCM - Candeias 6', Ikaunieks 19'
                                MOTM: Ikaunieks

Match Summary: This one seemed almost too easy for the home side with a staggering 16 shots registered compared to 4 from the other side, and 55% possession advantage. The scoring started almost instantly when Ikaunieks stopped the ball on the right side of the box and picked out Candeias running in at the top and he hit it first time between a defender on the post and the keeper coming back from the right and it settled in the back of the net. It didn't take long to add the second when Palomino's header off of a corner was saved by the keeper and pushed straight up into the air for Ikaunieks to take advantage and get under it and tap it home once it came back down. They should have added more with some of their chances, but the keeper held his own the rest of the way, but it was too little too late.

                                FC Metz 2 - 0 RC Lens
                                FCM - Ngbakoto 45' (PEN), 47'
                                MOTM: Ngbakoto

Match Summary: This was another game with a massive shot differential of 14 to 4 in favor of Metz. They started testing the keeper early but none of their efforts were enough in the first half. Then just before half Candeias pushed the ball around Ba in the box and he foolishly dove in for a tackle and took him out to concede a penalty. Ngbakoto used a stutter step in his approach and then fired it into the top right corner to break the deadlock. Just after the second half started Ngbakoto put pressure on the defense and read the keeper's pass perfectly to intercept it and easily finish the gift that was given to him. Lens had a few good chances after that, but they couldn't take any of them well enough to make a difference in the end.
