I've decided a poll would be the best way to choose our club as people aren't too fussed. Anyone can vote for the choice of club. Here are a couple of teams I thought we would all be able to use whilst still being broad enough for everyone to choose a league and strength of the team. Check out the teams in slightly more detail in the spoiler:

This idea includes all of you lot to make it greater!

Everyone who would like to join in agrees upon a single team (or if we all can't agree on one team, although I doubt that'll be a problem, we could agree on a single league.) where we all start at.

Then the next step is for each of us to pick our own manager (they don't necessarily have to be good either) that you want to imitate or emulate and enforce their philosophies, tactics and transfer strategies onto the team and think like the manager you picked and post the updates as you go along. The key is that we all choose managers with wildly differing styles and to try a style of football we've never tried before although if someone only feels comfortable playing a style they know and love then they can commit to that. I for one would find it intriguing to see where we all end up with all of our varying philosophies and styles.

If you want to impose rules or add a plot/story into your individual updates on the 'community series' then do! We can all do a post on our manager and their tactics and how they're going to shape the team chosen so all the others can follow along and then it's kick-off time! Anyone can join in at any time and move clubs after a season or two if they wish.

You can post as regularly or as irregularly as you want, or even change managers if you're finding the original style stale. Managers don't necissarily need to be managers! You have a particular youtuber you want to imitate? Then do it! If you want to be YOU and feel the style of play you have in mind is unlike any other manager then be you!

Just examples. Some are weirder than others that's for sure. Joey Barton for example would get his team to play an agressive, physical style of play in my mind but they are ultimately decided on how you guys think he'd get his team to play if you chose him as the manager you'd imitate.

Now that's interesting! I was just reading about how Paul Robinson made MK Dons a real attacking threat and was having a look at his tactics when he got 101 goals for MK in League One. I wonder what style of play Gerrard would choose and how well he'd do...

alright, with the weekend coming up I am planning getting December finished and posted and hopefully January too since it has only a few games to play. January will be my first transfer window too since I turned the first one off at the start.

On a side note, I suck at FIFA right now. Part of that is I am using an old controller that has the A button stick and the other part is my apparent lack of skill all of the sudden.

For a long time it seemed like we weren't going to sign anyone in January, but in the last five days of the transfer window we completed two signings. The first of them was Hoffenheim's starting keeper Oliver Baumann, who had only six months left of his contract. We saw this as a great opportunity to sign a world-class keeper to replace the decreasing 33-year-old Rune Jarstein in a couple of seasons. The 27-year-old Baumann has been Hoffenheim's undisputed starter since 2014, and the ex-Germany U21 international keeper possesses very good goalkeeping skills. Baumann will join our team in the summer after his current contract with Hoffenheim runs out.

The 27-year-old Sané is both a replacement and an improvement over Kohr due to his defensive capabilities and high work ethics. If we need him to, Sané can also play as a centre back.

Union Berlin - Hertha BSC

On Saturday January 20th of 2018, the first Berlin derby since early 2013 is about to be played. Union Berlin's Stadion An der Alten Försterei, with a capacity of 21,000, is completely sold out, and both sets of fans cheering and singing way before kickoff which is at 3:30 PM.

The derby between Hertha and Union is not your typical derby. It lacks history, and it can't be called a fierce derby where fights break out. Furthermore, there have been only four competitive matches between the two sides from Berlin.

What makes the Berlin derby so unique, then? The answer is hidden in the German capital of Berlin; a city which used to be split in half by the Berlin wall for nearly 30 years. During these 30 years, it was extremely rare for an Eastern Berliner to step into West Berlin. Many people tried, and many people died.

In the spring of 1989 the communist regime across Europe started to fall, and on November 9th 1989, for the first time in 28 years, citizens of East Berlin were able to walk into West Berlin. A year later East and West Germany were reunified.

What does this have to do with football? Hertha BSC is a football club with its roots in western Berlin, while Union Berlin is a team from eastern Berlin. Needless to say, these two teams did not face each other before 1990 due to the Berlin wall and different political regimes separating them. When The Wall finally fell in 1989/90, the two teams organised a friendly match between them. This was a very important symbol of unity both to Berlin, and entire Germany.

0' - Kickoff! The hosts Union Berlin start the first Berlin derby since 2013 off!
20' - It took some time, but we've got our first setpiece of the game. Mitchell Weiser cuts in from the right flank, but Union's defence does well to tackle Weiser and clear the ball over the goalline for a Hertha corner.
21' - Save! The corner is cleared into Peter Pekarik's feet, and the right back takes a shot from around 28 yards. The powerful shot is saved by Union's keeper Busk, and another corner is rewarded.
21' - Save! The corner is whipped in towards Vedad Ibisevic who gets his head onto the ball, but the ball flies right into Busk's hands.
25' - Miss! Union Berlin start a counter attack, which finishes in a shot which is put wide of Hertha's goal.
35' - Penalty! Union Berlin put the ball into the box from a corner, and Hertha's Salomon Kalou handballs the ball.
35' - Miss! Union's Philipp Hosiner puts the penalty over the bar. The result remains 0-0.
44' - Opportunity! Marvin Plattenhardt intercepts a pass high upfield and plays a low cross into the Union box, but there isn't a single Herthaner there.
45' - Foul! Per Skjelbred gets tackled from behind. The distance to Union's goal is 26 yards.
45' - Miss! Marvin Plattenhardt puts the ball wide from the resulting free kick.
45+' - Halftime whistle! The teams return to their changing rooms for 15 minutes. The score is still 0-0.

2nd Half

45' - Substitution. Union take midfielder Erol Zejnallehu off, and he is replaced by a fellow midfielder, Damir Kreilach.
45' - Hertha BSC kick the second half off.
49' - Miss! Union's Felix Kroos turns around a defender and puts the ball wide of the goal.
50' - Substitution. Hertha replace Salomon Kalou with Genki Haraguchi on the left flank.
54' - Goal! Mitchell Weiser crosses the ball towards Vladimir Darida inside the box. Darida beats his man and heads the ball into the net. Union 0 - 1 Hertha.
59' - Block! Damir Kreilach shoots from the edge of the box, but Peter Pekarik blocks the shot well.
64' - Miss! A low pass from the right is played into Hertha's box, and Philipp Hosiner shoots the ball wide of the goal.
72' - Save! Mitchell Weiser passes the ball to Vladimir Darida in the box, and Darida shoots. The shot gets blocked and falls to Weiser, but the first touch of the right winger is poor and Union's keeper Busk gets to the ball first.
85' - Save! Felix Kroos takes a powerful shot from outside the box, but Rune Jarstein parries the ball which was heading towards the bottom left corner of the net.
85' - Substitutions. Hertha replace Fabian Lustenberger with Max Christiansen, while Union take Philipp Hosiner off for Josue da Feira.
90' - Save! Max Christiansen plays a through pass into the box for Genki Haraguchi but puts too much power on it and Busk reaches the ball first.

No way in hell did we deserve to win this game. Wolfsburg dominated the entire game and we were barely able to get out of our own half in the first half. Haris Seferovic's game-winning header strike in the 79th minute was the only shot we registered in the entire game.

We did a great job to pretty much secure our place in the next round of the Europa League. Fenerbahce didn't stand a chance against us as we played some beautiful attacking football. The first goal should've been given to Haris Seferovic, whose on-target shot Volkan Demirel hit into the back of the net. In other words, Seferovic should've gotten his deserved hattrick. This is exactly why we signed him! Oh, and Salif Sané scored his second longshot goal in two games.

Oh my, what a result! This match was mainly fought in midfield, but both sides still had some chances to score, and we took our chances unlike Bayern. Genki Haraguchi got into the box and played a low pass to Vedad Ibisevic who had an easy task in putting the ball into the back of the net from a few yards. This win is a huge confidence boost.

Niklas Stark sprained his ankle and will miss 4 weeks of action.

We rotated nearly every player, and even though we lost the game, I'm not too upset. Fenerbahce never threatened our leading position. Next up: Belgian side KV Oostende.

Peter Pekarik broke his ankle and will be out for 3 months.

I have no clue how we managed to get a draw out of this game. Leverkusen took a whopping 11 shots in the match, while we failed to get a single shot off.

My Thoughts

League Form - Even though we have dropped a few points against worse teams like Hannover, I'm still extremely happy about how we are doing. More importantly, we are not leading the league, which, as you know, is something I don't like happening _this early_. Additionally, we we have a 13-point lead over 5th-placed Bayern, so we have basically secured our place in the Champions League next season.

Europa League - Everything is going well in Europa League, too. Bilbao will be a tough opponent, but I know we can beat them.

Player Performances - Even though Vedad Ibisevic is 33 years of age, he has been in top form this season and he has scored the highest amount of goals in the league. Mitchell Weiser has been doing really well, too, and he is a real menace in attack because of his pace and dribbling. The entire defence has been outstanding, too, which can be seen in the extremely low amount of goals we have conceded in the league (<15).

Injury Crisis - We had a bit of an injury crisis at the end of February with three of our defenders (Brooks, Stark & Pekarik) out injured. Luckily we managed to make it through Stark's injury with a bit of player rotation, while Felix Passlack covers for Peter Pekarik and Mitchell Weiser covers for Passlack on a couple of occasions. Now we are waiting for Brooks and Pekarik to return from their injuries.

Job Offer - Third-bottom VfL Wolfsburg offered me a place as their manager. Needless to say, I rejected that offer. Hertha is my only team.

Nothing feels quite like the FA cup, and we are lucky to survive another day, at least for now. Portsmouth hammered us from start to finish, smashing us in shots 15-5. Hunt opened it for them early when he smashed a long shot into the back of the net. Still, we held on and kept on fighting through the onslaught they brought at us. In the second half we found an answer and Bogle chested down a ball and then fired it off the volley past the keeper. We now have to head to Portsmouth for the replay and hopefully we can get our defense in order and not repeat a performance like this one.

Their opening goal was a scrappy one, but we can't complain since it came from them smashing an open shot off the post to start with. Sinclair cleaned up the rebound and our keeper was just too slow coming across to push it out. Luckily we were able to find an answer with Bolarinwa crossing it to Vernon's head. The second half saw nothing change and then two periods of extra time came and went and this one was going to have to be decided by penalties. It looked like we were in for an ordeal when the first taker from each side failed to convert, but after that we didn't miss again and McKeown was able to keep another out. It was the captain himself, Disley, who converted the final one to send us through.

This time we did a much better job controlling the match and we took our chances well on the way to a convincing win. The first half resulted in neither side being the better one, but once the second half whistle blew, we came alive. McAllister got us rolling with a well placed shot and then we took advantage of their aggressiveness and Chambers finished off a counter to double the lead and let us cruise our way to the final whistle.

This was a huge one and the FA Cup is one that you should never take for granted. We threw out the best XI that were fit enough to take the field and knew we had to give it our all since this time it was at Fratton Park. Right away the we both exchanged yellow cards for defenders and it set the tone for a physical match that was going to have to be grinded out. Bogle broke the dead lock after Vernon headed down a cross and he turned and hit it on the volley for a wonderful goal. Just after half though Roberts found an equalizer after Berret had the ball tackled away and he fired from the top left side of the box across the keeper for a well placed goal. After that it was a struggle for either side to get going and just when it looked like we were heading to extra time we found ourselves on the counter and got the ball to Bogle and he matched Roberts shot almost exactly to score his second of the night and send us through to the next round.

Cambridge United 0 - 0 Grimsby Town
MOTM: Newton

We were abysmal in the front for this one. There is no excuse for taking two shots in an entire game, and we were lucky to even walk away with a point after that performance. This was a great example of the fact that winning the possession battle means little when it comes to making real chances. This has to get better if we want to stay at the top of this table.

We defended well, but our attack was lacking once again and we suffered a loss as a result. Despite us holding strong at the back, the match came down to one miss timed tacked from Boyce as he barged into the attacker inside the box and Simpson left little doubt when he converted the penalty. We charged our way to the top early this season, now I am just hoping that we didn't peak too early.

Carlisle United 0 - 0 Grimsby Town
MOTM: Pearson

This was one of our strongest defensive performances of the season so far, but it was unfortunate that it falls within our current run of terrible attacking form. We managed a measly 3 shots in this one, and although we had a good chance, nothing resulted in any goals for us. It is starting to look like some serious changes will be needed come January if we want to stay toward the top of the table.

Another game, another disappointment. The fans are getting restless and I can hardly blame them. We've gone 4 straight matches without scoring a goal now. Hartlepool broke us down and not even our defense was able to save us this time. Alessandra accounted for both goals even though they officially ruled his first as an own goal by McKeown. One more game is left in this month and then we have the chance to bring in some fresh faces to hopefully turn things around.

Mansfield Town 1 - 1 Grimsby Town

We finally got on the score sheet after a 5 match drought. Vernon slotted home a finish in front of goal to give us the lead in the first half, but Rose equalized for Mansfield not long after the break. Still this is a good point for the sole fact that we were able to end this terrible streak. Hopefully we can take this as a good step in the right direction heading into next month.

When the Czech speaks, his voice is slow, deep and nearly monotone and his demeanour is almost inexpressive but the same cannot be said about his football.

Wait, why is he the coach of lost causes? His footballing philosophy will most likely never win a major title, nor a cup. The 69 year old has only won two titles in 30 years, those being the Serie C2 title with Licata and the Serie B title with Foggi and this is because his teams set out to score goals. In a season with Foggia, they scored 67 goals in 34 games but despite the incredible scoring record, they finished 6th place, not even making the play-offs. The simple fact is that their defensive form left a lot to be desired. Zeman’s career can largely be summed up by this stat, an incredible amount of goals scored, but a boatload of goals conceded at the other end.

After leaving Foggia in the summer of 2011, he signed a one year contract with Serie B side Pescara. With the help of a certain Ciro Immobile (on loan from Juventus at the time), Zeman and Pescara ended up winning the Serie B, scoring an incredible 90 goals. Only Juventus had ever come close to that amount of goals with 83 and that was in the 06/07 season. So even with legends like Alessandro Del Piero and Pavel Nedved, in a division far below the class that Juventus had in their team, they still couldn’t outscore Zeman.

Zeman left Pescara before they could kick a ball in Serie A, returning to Roma, who with players such as Dani Osvaldo, Erik Lamela, Mattia Destro, Danielle De Rossi, Alessandro Florenzi and of course Francesco Totti, had no shortage of talent. The fans initially weren’t happy with the re-appointment of Zeman, but the general director of Roma, Franco Baldini put things into perspective “We did say we wanted to play an attractive style. · Never won a major title or cup (aim to change this)
· Aim to at least score 60 goals a season (Maybe try and average two goals a game)
· Only stamina training
· Likes his second strikers
· Only asks for his players to give it their all and trust in him
· Zeman maintains that his failures are attributable to external factors: politics, conspiracies, weak club presidents, unprofessional players.
· Still potentially has an under-the-cover 'rivalry' with Juventus (he voiced his suspicions in 1998 over Juventus, Gianluca Vialli and Alessandro Del Piero relating to doping which resulted in the launch of an inquiry that lasted over two years then 7 year of trials and court hearings. The results of which opened up a can of worms on the workings behind Juventus football club)
· Rivalry with Daniele De Rossi due to argument that sparked a lack of belief in a Roma side coached by Zeman.
· Zeman once said “I feel good with youngsters. I hope I can keep teaching them things for some more time.” So an emphasis on developing youngsters.
· Favourite player is Francesco Totti
· Has never swayed from his total football 4-3-3 tactics

THOUGHTS

What A Month!: Well, October was quite the month. 13 out of possible 15 points and a 10:0 goal differential. That makes six straight clean sheets now, dating back to September. That said, only one opponent in the month finished it in the top half of the table, so I have to imagine it was an aberration more than anything else.

Top of the Table: I fully expected us to win the league from the beginning (as did the board), and am dually unsurprised that we are already 7 points clear at the top. It's all about keeping pace now and ensuring that we not only get promoted, but win the league in the process. This is an incredibly strong start and I have faith that our roster depth is going to carry us to the end.

International Management?: I've been back and forth on the thought of managing an international team alongside NUFC, but I think that I am going to hold off for now. That's not to say this won't change in the future, but I've already turned down a couple of strong countries.
