If this comes to fruition I would be pretty disappointed.

          ?

How can they let this happen?

I know Konami has money...they made Contra for pete's sake...

Surely they aren't throwing in the towel...but the lack of real development in the game and a lack of aggressiveness in the market suggest that they are slowing down just as they seemed to be about to take the next step.

This will be the final nail in the coffin for them.

All they gotta do is something like a EA locker or the 2KShare thing they have for CHoops. They don't need *any* licenses, just give us the means to edit and share and everything will take care of itself.

I'd hate to see them flounder even further. As good as FIFA has/is becoming, they still need each other to compete and innovate.

Nah. Edited options files. Problem solved.

I always thought the FIFA license as a feature was overrated anyway. I use teams in the main leagues and PES always had the license for the Spanish, Italian, French, and Dutch leagues. If it didn't have a license and you were looking for a specific league there was always an option file out there somewhere.

If not having the EPL license didn't kill them, losing the Spanish one sure won't.

I just hope they bring back the editing features from a couple years ago, this year's editing was terrible.

PES 2008 has no Bundesliga license and still sells well here in Germany.

Offline for sure. But online not so much. Sometimes they will allow player names to show up edited online (ala NCAA Football) but I doubt they will allow different kits to be used online.

That's what I was thinking. I've never played PES online.

                            Re: PES loses Spanish License

Its about time they actually significantly increased the number of teams in the game. And by that i mean including unlicensed versions of FULL lower leagues like Serie B and the Championship - and of course the Bundesliga too in unlicensed forms - not just one or two new clubs/national teams like in the past (especially when in the case of national teams, they simply replaced one nation with another...they never really added more).
