Just picked this game up yesterday and I must say that I am in love with BAL. I have never been into the whole creating myself in a video game thing (mainly a season player) but this is so addicting.

I am not a true soccer nut (slowly becoming 1) so I have a hard time knowing exactly where I should be at all times on the field...oops I mean Pitch. I'm a AMF so just to be safe I just try to not venture too far from the middle of the pitch.

I am still in training matches which I actually enjoy for some reasons, because I feel that it's helping me come to grips with the game.

Will post later once I am called up (Genoa). Ohh, I added chants along with an Option File and boy does that add to the immersion.

Ahhhhh, I see I actually had it set to auto but never used it. Man I am 8 training matches deep without an assist let alone a goal which i actually find realistic.

My manager must be thinking how in the H did we sign this guy, he has now F'n idea what the hell he is doing out there .
I am getting better though I must say.

Where can I get this option file with the chants? Is it for the 360 or PS3?

Hang in there buddy, it took me a while to crack into the bench too, but helpful hint make sure you do your best to stay in the lineup or they will send you back down. This happened to me after I got injured after coming on at half time one match, the next day they had a headline about how I wasn't ready....hurt my feelings a little bit lol, but I didn't stay too long down in training the next time so it wasn't too bad.

So keep at it bro, I find this game very rewarding when your patient.

What camera angle are you guys using? I am on the default BAL camera but everything just seems so small.
I think I am going to have to start my BAL over because I started on
Top Player and for my skill level I just think it's too hard for me.

I would go to PRO level and no lower than that. The Teammate AI on 3 star or Regular is not very good. It's not FIFA bad, but when you're on the bench watching the game and your team is down a goal with less than 10 minutes to play, and all they do is pass the ball backwards, it becomes quite annoying.

I also notice the "I just scored a goal now it's your turn" programmed cheat to be worse at this level. I can deal with it and adjust when I'm on the pitch but when I'm not all I can do is watch in horror. In the second half of my last season with Roma, every game was either a 1 goal win or loss or a tie. Seabass and his team should have their azzes kicked for programming this nonsense in there. It's that obvious.

Anyway, keep practicing, conserve your energy, and approach every game/training match as if you were actually trying out for a team. Think teamwork, positioning, safe passes, and most of all stamina. Layoff the sprint button. Try not to take the sprint everywhere and try to score a goal video game approach because you will be punished....and you should.

It took me about 20-25 training matches to make the bench. I stayed up for the remainder of my first season, but got sent down in the early part of season two. I also committed to myself not to play any other game modes until I made the bench. It becomes that much more rewarding!

Regarding the camera, I was using the Verticle Wide for about two seasons. I'm back to using the Wide camera and my player ratings have gone up to almost 6.5 per game. My passes are more accurate and I have a better feel for my positioning. That's just my preference.

Thanks for the tips. I think I will start a new one on Pro and just go from there. I actually have the Strategy Guide from last years game that I have been reading and one of the major tips is to layoff that Sprint button ( always the 1st thing that I want to do LOL).

I have noticed that I do have more ball control and I get juked less on defense also but I am still getting used to not constantly mashing the sprint button, besides I have no damn speed anyway.

What actually happens when you get to the bench, are the games just simmed up until the point where you are subbed in (or not) or do you watch the entire game until you are subbed?

You actually watch the game and you get subbed in...sometimes. I've been on the bench for Arsenal and in the last 5 games I was only subbed in twice.

You do have the option of speeding up the game though if you don't want to watch but, while you do have the option to sim, if you do, you won't gain the experience points.

I finally started one on Professional the other night and my teammate AI is less than desirable -- hopefully it's because I'm playing with the reserve team. I'm a CM, which I'm not liking as much as I thought I would. I was hoping that position would maximize my involvement in the game, but I'm disappointed in that regard thus far. They rarely pass me the ball even when I'm the best option & calling for it, preferring to dribble until they are dispossessed, pass to a covered man or just boot the ball away. If I'm not going to be involved in the midfield game, I'd rather just go up front and try to poach. Defensively things are OK (I'm learning that skilled slide tackling is a must), aside from corners as I swear I'm the only one that tries to clear the ball.

For the record, I have two assists in 5 or 6 training matches, both on crosses when I drifted out wide to find space to get the ball. I should have had one goal on a rebound shot that I timed perfectly, but the keeper made an impossible save (I had a lot of net & shot it too close to him). My ratings have been in the 6-6.5 range aside from the game I was sent off in, which should have only been a yellow, IMO.

I may restart one as a CF, possibly even on Top Player to see if that helps. I'm willing to struggle at the beginning with my weak ratings so I don't feel like I'm playing with a bunch of dopes...

Genoa plays a 3-4-3. I was either an SS or and LCM. When I transferred to Roma, who plays a 4-5-1, I was an AMF behind Totti or the CF.

Now, on Arsenal, on the rare occasion that I get into a game it's as an LCM or even a DMF even though my defense is awful. I may transfer because of this nonsense. I don't feel like I'm a part of the game.

Really, I was scared of this, it is one of the reasons I have stayed with OGC Nice for 4 seasons. I will eventually transfer but I don't really see any point unless I found a team that is will to play me at multiple positions. Plus I am too use to my teammates and I am a regular starter.

I will say that I am not a fan of playing with Hull City right now - I dunno, I'm shallow when it comes to uniform/kits makeup,lol - the yellow and black (despite being MIZZOU colors) are not appealing.

stick with it for a little bit. I restarted mine and moved the difficulty from amateur to regular and it was difficult at first. Took me 10 training matches to be moved to the 'A' squad but then two training matches I made the bench and was subbed in two consecutive games.

Yes your teammates on the 'B' squad are terrible, that's why they're on the 'B' squad. They are terrible passers, have no vision and routinely lose the ball. One thing I've found helpful is when I'm open or will be open I double tap the right trigger, which on default controls is call for the ball. When you do that the CPU will pass to you about 60-70% of the time as long as you keep your path.

So I recommend being a little patient. Give it 20 or so games and if you still don't like how the game feels or your position then switch.
