    Master League Help

I'm new to the PES. Played FIFA last year but got tired of all the AI teams playing the same.

    Loving PES so far!

I want to start a Master League with a lower team that I can work on building up to become great. Does anybody have any good teams that this would be good for? I'd like a team that's halfway decent but just needs some good management to turn them into a great team.

    Any ideas???

Also who are some players I should look to bring to my new team through transfers. I'm not really that familiar with up and coming players. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Re: Master League Help

It probably depends on now much of a challenge you want. I like to pick some of the Russian or Ukranian teams in the past, like Dynamo Kiev, or Shaktar Donetsk. In Russia their is a team called Lokomtiv Moskow, I just like the name. Or I pick a good but not great team from Spain or France. Like a team in the top 5 or so from their leagues, gives you a decent base of talent but is not like starting as Real Madrid or Barcelona and thinking you are god.

As far as players go, I kind of like searching for them on my own or picking up someone I watched play recently that I liked. You can use the scout in the Master League to help you out or the Advanced search, I look for youth, speed, response, dribble speed are good, but don't overlook teamwork and technique the ratings really seem to have an effect.

        Related question:

If you start off with a created team, filled with registered players off national teams (thus removing the PLAYER A13 and putting them in FA pool), do the generic players ever get picked up?

You're damn right somethings wrong. IGN are a disgrace and anyone that believes their reviews needs their head examined. Lest we forget they gave Pes 2008 ( the worst of the entire series) a 9.2

            Re: Master League Help

            Anyway...

I'm using Preston North End (PC Version), championship team and hoping to get into the Premier League next year.

If you're not using any patches (console), I would suggest using like Bolton, Burnley, Fulham (English) or Chievo Verona, AS Bari, Siena, Bologna (Serie A) or RD Mallorca, Real Betis...

Basically I would go to one of the football websites and check out which teams are near last (or last) in their standings, wiki them for some history - and select.

I chose Preston North End because they were one of the first teams that David Beckham played for before joining Man United.

I always pick a random team. Usually, I get a pretty poor team. This year I am playing with Stoke City.

Beckham came through the Man U academy system. I think he went on loan to Preston, but he wasn't really owned by them.

I picked up Yazalde from Portugal, and he is progressing nicely. I also got Alvaro Gonzalez from Uruguay he is decent for a low budget team. I got a guy named Gustavo Buo from Argentina and he was rated like a 76 overall at 20 years old, but he just keeps dropping like rock in regards to his progression.

It is hard to land anyone above an 80 and even high 70's with a lower budget team, I am in my 3rd year with Sunderland and the highest rated player I could get so far is Gervinho 79 I think from Ivory Coast, he will be with me next year. He was something like 10-11 million.

How is your Sunderland master league going? One of the big debates about this game is the difficulty level. My opinion is that it comes down to which team you decide to play as. Going with default players in master league, or a smaller club, seems to give the appropriate amount of difficulty, whereas if you use a great team, it should be a bit easier to win. Thoughts??

                        Re: Master League Help

The transfers are definitely harder this year, and there's no 'transfer frequency' or 'ML difficulty' settings to customize it. Even as a top level team, it's tougher to sign players than last year. If the players are happy with their team, there's not much you can do.

If you go to scout recommendations and search by 'openness to negotiation', then you should be able to sign most of those guys. As a crappy team, most of the players that show up will be old and/or crappy, but in my Inter ML Lampard, Robben, Pepe, and some other big name players were on there.

I would agree although I haven't played much as a truly top team, I have played about 20 master league games with Sevilla and having their talent makes it easier but they are not a sure thing. In my 3rd year on the Professional level I am actually in first with Sunderland, I think it is sort of a fluke, my first year I finished 9th and made the Europa league and then the second year I finished 9th but did not qualify for the Europa league so in my 3rd year I have a better team and they are almost always rested so when I play teams that are in Champions league or Europa I seem to have had better luck this year, the 4th year will be the key when I am in the Champions league, unless I blow my lead. I will have to try top player also to see what challenge that presents.

                            Re: Master League Help

I just had a quick question about Master League that I hope someone can answer. After searching around for a good amount of time I think I have gotten the master league format, but just want to make sure? So there are 4 A leagues and 1 B league. You have to manually insert the teams into the leagues you want them to be in, so most people try to make an English League, Spanish League, Italian League, French or Dutch League and then another league with all the rest of the teams. If this is the case how realistic are the champions league rosters? If this is not accurate would anyone mind kind of giving a brief overview as to how the league is structured. Thanks.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

                              Re: Master League Help

The setup you're describing is how it's been for the past few years, but it's different in PES 2010. There are 6 leagues in all. There's the 5 main leagues, and then the 6th is the 2nd division of whichever league you're playing in. The French and Dutch leagues are fully licensed now, and can't be modified. So that leaves 3 leagues to customize (plus the 2nd division), which people typically fill with English, Italian, and Spanish teams.

I like this setup less than last year as I would typically only include a handful of Dutch teams and about half the French teams and fill the rest of the spots with the teams from the other leagues (Greece, Russia, etc.), but this year you're forced to include all the Dutch and French teams.
