From everything I've read, there is still a "thru ball" button. But, with the new free passing, the notion is that you'll eventually just be using the passing button to put in thru balls. And I believe that circle is still a lofted pass/cross. Basically, buttons are same as we've gotten used to with previous PES versions, just X is going to be a manual pass instead of the R-stick.

There is still the triangle (PS3) through ball button, and crosses will still be with circle. The x button is used for normal passes, but as you will have more freedom with it, you can pass the ball into space with x as well, or use triangle if you want to.San Francisco 49ers
