That said, I found this thread - http://forums.evo-web.co.uk/showthre...t=60966&page=3 - that gives some good tactical advice on how to set up various teams, including all of the Premier League.
sounds great but i dont think i have time to go editing every team...

if you make those edits will you have to restart your ML for them to be applied?

I just boughyt a 3DS and picked this up. I must admit, I don't anything about soccer. I watch World Cup matches from time to time, but I can't say I've learned much.I have no clue what I'm doing. I've played about half a dozen games and don't think I've gotten but 2 shots off. I'm just lost. .

          Re: Tactics discussion

I'd recommend going through that thread - there's a lot of good stuff and many things in the team styles area are either wrong or got lost in translation: For instance, "long ball" doesn't really mean long ball, it means counter attack. "Counter attack" means high pressure, and "All out attack" means long ball (at least according to the guy that set all the teams' styles). It's enjoyable even if you do just go through one at a time, because it makes the AI much more realistic. I coupled that with longer games (20/25/30) with -2 speed, and it makes me want to trade in FIFA.

              Re: Tactics discussion

The key to this game is definitely the -2 speed. This game plays so much more like the beautiful game than the arcadey, counter-attacking FIFA. And I've owned the last 6 FIFAs.

I started on -2 and eventually graduated to -1 once I learned enough about the game. I converted from FIFA about mid-season and haven't looked back since. I find -1 to play near perfect along with manual tactic controls.

                  Re: Tactics discussion

So much of this game is, if you play FIFA, breaking yourself free from overly pressing and running into guys to get the ball - a tactic that works well in FIFA and is far too necessary if you want to win. I played FIFA with far too much (personal) aggression that it stopped being fun. Simply relaxing and playing soccer, not FIFA, is the hardest thing for me to get re-used to (I was a die-hard WE player on the PS2).

funny...that whole "overly pressing and running into guys to get the ball" thing sounds a lot like how the COM plays lol

Great! you won't regret it, now even more with the upcoming PES 2012. Trust me.

I do not think team captain could affect performance. I have changed it twice and I don't think I have encountered any changes.
