I also started out playing on Normal but found it too easy to win on that level.

Top Player is just bull**** with all the insane CPU bonuses. I want to lose because I got outplayed, not because the CPU team is jacked up on steroids while my team are gimped.

I think there needs to be another difficulty somewhere between Normal and Professional. I'm almost too good for Normal now but not good enough for Professional.

10 minutes gives me decent enough stats and scores without the games taking too long. Any more than this and I start to see insane amounts of shot attempts, not to mention the time it takes to play a game.

I turned the speed down mainly so I would have time on the ball to do something before being closed down. My reflexes are not what they used to be and I didn't want to be frustrated with playing a fast speed.

I have only played League thus far and I am enjoying every minute of it playing player lock.

The Refs are much better in 2011 vs 2010.

I disagree with therizing that there is any kind of scripting on top player. I play exhibition matches, league and tourneys (world cup, champs league, etc). Do not play master league where complaints of scripting were prevalent in past PES games.

It's very different playing teams with different skill levels. Something I didn't feel in fifa 11. I don't experience the score one goal and the cpu scores bacsk right away. Won plenty of blowout wins, even some with similar rated teams and once beat barcelona 3-0 using atletico madrid. Rare, but happens.

I do agree that there are still some intances where you slightly misfire a pass and the human teammate just lets it go even though it's right next to him. i'd say I see this once a game on average. Maybe even less than that, but it is pretty annoying when it happens.

My sole big complaint of top player ? cpu have very high rates of success on their free kicks. Made me edit all Short FK takers free kick accuracy down by 30 points. much better now....but still tedious and tiring to edit this stuff.

After it's tied, the CPU goes back into "normal" mode again. Can be very frustrating. Oh..and this is basically with player lock, so it's not me controlling my other teammates.

what game mode is this ? exhibition? be a legend? cup? league? master league?

My experience is that exhibition matches show no comeback sripting by the cpu regardless the level. Many complaints in past years from master league ( have never touched this feature in this series)....which leads me to believe that there MIGHT be something fishy going on in that mode. But on exhibition....HELL NO. I just killed inter 4-1 using manchester city....scored the 4th goal in the 63rd minute, changed my defense to conservative, and didn't really press forward much. Inter got 1 top notch quality chance the rest of the way.

Difficulty - Regular (sort of new to PES/WE, but may bump up to Professional after 7-10 more matches)

My only issue with playing anything more than 10 min games is that the other results scale with the length of your games.

That is, at 10 min games, say the average goals per game is 2. At 20 min games, that average doubles.

I think the reason they did it this way is so the player couldn't longer games and generate much better stats than what the computer would do.

I don't know if I completely agree with that reasoning, but after discovering this, I realized that if I want realistic results across all of the games, I have to play at 10 min. Which is disappointing, because they games have such a great flow to them I wouldn't mind playing longer games.

On the other hand 10 min games allows me to get through a few in one sitting.

Still figuring out the level.

Regular

-CPU defending in the box is a joke. At time there is no reaction.
-More realistic results and performance differences between top teams and less talented teams.
-Less inconsistencies in performance from the USER team.
-No CPU speed cheat and or catch up/recovery speed.
-Easier to make dribble moves.
-I always dominate possession on this level

Professional

-The talent differences between top teams and lower level teams is reduced.
-CPU gets away with more fouls.
-Inexplicable passing at times. I think the passing is atrocious in this game. Sometimes when I hold the button down for a long pass, the pass is chipped. Press the directional stick towards 9 o'clock and the ball goes in the 3 o'clock direction. What's worse is that the passing is even worse and less than reliable in your own penalty area.
-The CPU speed cheat starts to show up. If I have Aaron Lennon in a full sprint down the wing, Michael Carrick should NEVER be able to run him down.
-Through balls are ridiculously easy.

Top Player

-Game just feels scripted to me. Not just for the CPU but for both players. The "I just scored now it's your turn to score within 3 minutes of my goal" is so obvious and I'm sick of it.
-Passing is painfully erratic and unpredictable
-Obvious CPU speed cheat
-CPU gets away with virtually every sliding tackle.
-To add to the scripting thing, there are way too many instances where a pass goes towards one of my players and he won't even attempt to receive the pass. He'll just let it roll right to a CPU player. It happens to the CPU as well. I notice the problem happening even more to the team in the lead.
-The differences between top teams and lower level teams is basically non existent. With that being said, if you play a game on Top Player with two evenly matched teams I think this level plays the best.
-Tactical decisions mean much more than on the lower levels.
-Realistic possession stats.
-Fatigued players are more noticeable.
-Form arrows mean a lot more on this level

Bottom line for me is that while there are some obvious positives and negatives for each level it still seems that Regular is too easy, but when you move to Pro and Top Player the unpredictability of passing, CPU speed cheats, and scripting become painfully obvious at times.

Tough call.

I just moved up to PRO because of the domination on regular. But I definitely see the CPU getting away with murder for fouls. Several times they have taken my players feet out from under him and no call. I slightly bump the guy and I get a yellow. Hope they patch this issue or at least address it for next year.

I have better matches on PRO but there is a reduction in team differences. It also feels like every time the CPU touches the ball, they steal it. Overall, a better difficulty level.

XBox: -2 / Pro / 15

PC: 75% (Kitserver) / Regular / 15

Kinda off topic, but PESEdit 1.6 OF + Gameplay by Spock2005 = a totally different experience from stock PES on both the XBox and PC. The gameplay slows right down, there are more errors in passing (reduces ping pong), goalies don't let easy ones through, and your teammates are more aggressive in playing loose balls.

On top of that, it's the five leagues (EPL, 1.BL, Serie A, BBVA, Ered), all current transfers, new adboards, scoreboards (Fox, Sky, etc), boots, stadiums, etc.

I was a FIFA 10/11 full manual addict and switched to PES 2011 on the XBox but found Regular too easy and Pro too biased. Settled on PES for the PC with these OFs and tweaks and it's the absolutely most fun I've ever had in a football game. I'm hooked!

A big difference...

First off, -2 speed really helps give you a more realistic game, as it slows down the AI's hyperactive tendency to press the ball on higher difficulties. It seemed a little too slow at first, but in truth it's closer to simulating the pace of real soccer, where action will on occasion slow down to almost a stop. So I like it in that regard.

15 minute halves, a good amount of shot totals, and anything more makes games too long for my liking.

Pro difficulty is bringing up some strange issues every now and then, as I've seen my players actually back away from the ball a few times, and play from my keeper seems to have become a bit worse. Haven't tried Top Player, and Regular just got too easy.

Loving it. Much more realistic and tactical game with the slower speed. My offense has been boosted a bit too. Probably because I have a bit more time for my old brain to calculate moves a bit better. LOL
