Re: MLS OF for PES 2011 (PS3)

An update to the file has been posted (version 1.5). See here for download links:

    Details:

    - MLS & NASL rosters updated to August 17, largely to correspond with the closing of the transfer window for MLS.
    - Continued alterations to formations, lineups, player stats, boots, & accessories for MLS & NASL clubs. Also updated two MLS GK kits.

Once again, if you're using fcpappin's stadium pack, you'll have to go into 'Edit' mode and re-link the appropriate 'Home Grounds' after you've loaded the update.

I'm probably going to post another update after the September 15 roster freeze date for MLS. That presumably will be the last update for the file.

    Enjoy.

looks like he used fcappin and connol's file as a base and then changed a few teams. He probably isn't sharing that file though

No clue on that file, although I gag a little bit on the NY Cosmos front (pure publicity stunt at the moment). And is there even a planned team in San Diego? Not yet.

So hoping we see one like this for PES2012. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Yeah, I'd like to see that, too. Maybe somebody else can step up to the plate. I just don't think I'll be able to pull it off this year, and I want to give people advanced heads up on that front. Depending on how things go, I could maybe consult on a file if others decide to run with it. We'll see.

^How exactly do you make option files? Do you do the moves in the game and export them, or is there software on a computer you need to use?

I've always been curious as to this, too. I'm guessing it's the first option - which makes me wonder how much time it takes to do one. Obviously a long time, but about how much?

All the editing is done in game. Appearances and stats are done via the 'edit mode'. Kits are arranged via the in-game editing templates and by importing PNGs -- first to the PS3 harddrive, then into the game via the editing function. There are a bunch of guys on the assorted editing sites that help create the PNGs for the kits. Stats are derived from places like pesstatsdatabase.com, old versions of the game (at pesstats.com or pestools.com), personal observation, or, typically, by converting Football Manager stats.

When sharing OFs for others to use/download, you just copy the 'edit data' and PNGs to a USB stick from the PS3 harddrive. Then zip/rar the pack.

                        It's fairly straight forward.

How much time is hard to say. It really depends on a variety of factors: how thorough you want to be, how much time/attention you want to spend on player appearances/accessories, how much research you need to put in to come up with player stats, etc.

On my 2011 file, for instance, over 700 players were created for the MLS and NASL sides. Also throw in the work with the national teams, or any of the in-game clubs, on top of that. So you can easily chew up a lot of time making an OF...again, how much depends largely on what you're trying or wanting to do.

Thanks for the response connoll. I've decide to just go domestic and not import from the UK. We have a nice community here at OS so hopefully someone finds the time to make a good OF. I currently have the time on my hands and have a very strong attention to detail, but I've never done this before and it would be a learning process. I really want to see an MLS OF so sometimes the best thing to do is act and not wait.

been thinking about doing one as well. I'm a details kinda guy as well, but I get lazy when I get home from work and dont wanna do anything. lol. So not sure if I would ever complete one. It took me a few days before just to create one team.

Re: MLS OF for PES 2011 (PS3)

Ok, I played around a little bit with the prequel function on PES 2012 and, as some of you have already discovered, the prequel does a pretty good job bringing forth MLS details to the new game.

So, if there's interest, what I'm proposing to do is clean up the MLS portion of the file *only* and post the 'edit data'. I'd do this primarily so that if anyone wants to take the file further, they'll have a decent MLS base to start from. This also might help with importing/exporting teams, which seems like it will be a useful tool, too.

                              What I'd correct/fix:

                              - Add missing players that didn't come through the prequel, so MLS rosters will be 100% as of today
                              - Fix players and any distortions that came about with the prequel import -- hairstyles, commentary names, etc.
                              - Rough adjustment of boots & accessories.
                              - Rough adjustment of formations, lineups, kick takers, & tactics.
                              - Rough adjustments of kit colors to better match existing PNGs.

Again, I'm only going to be making adjustments to MLS sides & players. The rest of the file is somewhat of a hot mess because of the prequel and I currently have no interest in investing the time to fix it.

Also, I'm only going to post the 'edit data', so ideally the file will be aimed at people who have tried their own prequel. If one of those peeps wants to make the effort to post a complete file by copying the PNGs and posting a full d/l pack, be my guest.

Another thing: I'm only going to post the file here, in the 2011 thread. If someone wants to take a lead and post something in a 2012 thread/s, that's fine with me. But I'm trying to stay in the background for 2012 and don't want to be seen as taking a lead on this project.

                              So...if interested, please speak up.

I am certainly interested and will keep watch for an update. After spending this weekend loading the MLS OF, stadiums, and chants, it has made this game amazing from what it was before. I edited a few players to add some of the missing ones and now I am ready for serious game time with it.

                                Ole!
