Dribbling... help
so, dribbling is very nuanced, very skill dependent. but, what is everyone's advice here? when do you use R2, or L2 (the two different slow dribbles). are there any videos out there?Tags: None -
Re: Dribbling... help
I find it best to use a change of pace:
-R2 to slow down and for use in tight space
-R1 to accelerate, for use when you have space in front of you
-Tap R1 repeatedly for top speed, and hold R1 then press R2 + L-stick to push the ball far ahead at an angle (and gives you fastest speed I believe, requires a lot of space)
Then, stopping the ball completely to draw the defense to you and create space:
-R1 and let go of L-stick to stop
-R2 and let go of L-stick to stop and face the goal
I think it also helps to anticipate the cuts you make a split second before hand. Often times when you make a cut it won't respond right away because the ball isn't at the player's feet.
L2?
L2 is used for feints:
-R-stick = scissor moves mostly
-L2 + R-stick = drag moves mostly
-L1 + R-stick = custom feints, linked together or good for mapping just one move by itself
A good way to practice dribbling, feints as well, is to go to training mode and go up against four defenders and a defensive midfielder (go to game plan in the pause menu, then switch sides to activate defensive players). This way you can go up against an adequate defense, and also get the ball back easily. All ties severed... -

How much does anyone use the R stick?
Am I also correct that if you push the L stick it helps to stop/controll the ball.'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'-Bill ShanklyComment

Re: Dribbling... help
Does anyone know what button you push to trap the ball?
In the manual it says to press L. I assumed this meant the L stick. On the PESGaming site I've seen people say R2, R1&R2, and other say L1.
Which is it?'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'-Bill ShanklyComment

Re: Dribbling... help
I tried finding trapping on there to no luck.
Only thing I came across, was info about receiving the ball and using L1 and the L stick to protect and R1 and the R stick to let the pass go through and than run after it.'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. Re: Dribbling... help
trapping is simply done by pressing the appropriate direction you wanna trap to.
if you are running (R1), however, the ball will be poorly trapped with most players.
You can press R1 and the direction of the pass to let he ball roll just past you and take it in stride.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

Re: Dribbling... help
how do i keep from getting pushed off the ball?!?!
big guy, high balance...just gets shoved around ALL THE TIME.
Defenders just run up to me and shove me out of the way...then my dude takes several seconds to start moving again...
I like the game, but really miss the quality that was on the PS2Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment
