It is beautiful looking but pretty basic chip but as mentioned I don't recall seeing the AI attempt it. Normally they would just bring it down, shoot or dribble forward and the keeper would just dive at the ball. Seeing this was awesome!
Altimus you have got to lay off the coffee, man. You are making me dizzy.

      Some real quick impressions

It was taking me awhile to get used to controls for the game, eventually I just custom configured it to how FIFA's are, I felt more comfortable after that. I initially felt like a fish out of water but quickly started seeing some of that touted ai everyone is always talking about. It's a noticeable difference but not miles and miles above.

After playing a good 10 games I played a few games of FIFA 12 for comparison. There were definitely things I missed about the PES 12 demo and something all of a sudden just felt a bit off about FIFA. The flip side is that I really noticed just how ugly PES 12 is especially in the lighting department.

If I had cash to burn I might just buy both as it stands I don't know if there's enough in either demo to convince me to not keep playing FIFA 09 for a while longer to get my football fix.

+ I like how the first touch feels, it's not always glued to your foot from the get go.

Here are some points that stood out

+ My teammates express a desire to go after loose balls.

+ The opposing ai is more patient building up their attack than in FIFA games

      - The lighting looks bad, everything is so dark, it's just not pretty

      - The running animations, especially when you sprint are just awful, they almost remind me of the really old snes games where the legs are just spinning, like how Mario runs.

These are my beef about the game too.

Just played the demo and must say I enjoyed it. It's taking a bit of an adjustment to relearn the controls after playing the FIFA demo. Overall I think I enjoyed it more than FIFA. More play time needed to reach a final verdict.

One question: Is there a speed burst button in PES? I didn't notice any kind of boost using the shoulder buttons (Xbox 360).

Just substitute the 360 controls if that is what you need (diagrams show PS3 controls)

Re: 2nd Demo Available on X360 and PS3 Soon?

I've played two games on the second demo and I've really enjoyed it.

I forgot to change the difficulty to Top Player so I played both on Professional. The first one was a 1-0 win with Bayern Munich against Rangers, and the second one was a 2-2 draw with Internacional against Club America.

The shooting is much improved from the first demo, and I like the way the Pro Evo is still much more unpredictable than FIFA, even after all these years of the latter improving.

What I've always loved about PES is that you can do anything you want with ANY player if you use them well. And you still can in this game

I'll play some more over the next few days and report back.

I was struggling with this too, I think it's the RB button but I just went into the controller options selected custom configuration and switched it to how FIFA's are. At least until I make my decision on which game I don't want to relearn the controls.

Well, I am sold. I will be making the switch. This game has me really thinking like a soccer player.

I will agree the visuals have room for improvement. I think next year they should focus on improving the visuals.
When the game is on the line, winners want the ball.

Ok, had time to play a couple games on Demo 2. Random Thoughts...PS3.

It feels more refined. They definitely tweaked the passing slider, and using one bar, passing is tougher. You can still ping-pong the ball around a little too much for my liking, but you also spray balls off-target as well.

Intro video is LONG! and can't be skipped of course.

You can save personal settings between games, just not saved when you exit the game completely. Nice because no need to setup passing, cursor changing stuff before each game.

Keepers still have "alligator arms", but I just don't see it as much of a problem as people who (on other boards mostly) are screaming about it.

Dribbling isn't as potent as demo 1. With #1 I could use the slow dribble (R2) and cut thru the defense with most players...not true anymore.

Shooting doesn't seem as touchy as before. You can hold down a little more for power and not put it into Row Z.

All in all, pretty good stuff. Being able to play both demo's really shows where each game shines and lacks.

With all the quality titles coming out this year, I just don't have room in my stable for two Soccer games.

After playing both demos, I always come back to playing PES. Bring on 9/27.

It still has better ball physics and contol than FIFA and I love the animated sidelines ( who would think this would be so good?! FIFA, MAdden etc take note)

I sooooooo want this game to be how i remember it. It is definatly getting better but its still not there.
On which system? I actually prefer the 2nd demo on the ps3 compared to the 1st one.

I find the graphics in next-gen PES to be really good, and the head-tracking of people on the sidelines is a nice touch. It's not as pretty as FIFA, but I've always found them to be pleasant and not burn-your-retina like FIFA is. Where the game really lacks in is atmosphere / I'm happy with the gameplay changes so far but that repetitive, canned crowd cheering drives me up a wall

just played the 2nd demo on PC and all I can say is WOW. This is what videogame football should be like. Played on professional, -1 speed, using America vs Internacional. Game ended in a 1-1 tie after I gave up an early goal on a free kick. You can just see your teammates AI sense of urgency to get the equalizer. I love it.

The shots are much improved, the goalkeepers seem to be improved, and I just love how you have to build a play to try to break the defense down. Also love that you can build up from the midfield and around the top of the box as well and not just the flanks like the other game. And just because you can build up and pass it around the top of the box doesn't mean that the defense is weak. You still have to break them down and get a shot off.

I'm about to try demo 2 on the ps3 (uk version).

I agree. I have not felt that way the past few years but this year based on both demos IMO Pes blows Fifa away.
