How is the AI on the 2013 Demo?

I used to player PES on the PS2 and really enjoyed it. However, last year I picked up FIFA for the 360 on a whim and enjoyed it. But, the AI was terrible. Playing them just felt cheap. They could dribble and pinpoint all their passes against even the best teams. I am wondering how is the PES AI? Do they play a midfield game and are they as cheap as the AI in FIFA? On the PS2 I never remember them being overly cheap but that was years ago.

The general consensus from non-biased fans are that the AI of PES 13 is certainly more challenging to play against. I also recommend watching some PES 13 gameplay videos to see for yourself.

The AI in this demo is good. It is more about strategy and build up play. You have to work the ball around to get a scoring opportunity. The only issues I have is the aerial game favors the CPU, and the crossing is still to accurate for the CPU. Other than that it looks good.

The arial and crossing have plagued both FIFA and PES for years. I might have to give it a go then.

Well, FIFA has to overpower the CPU passing accuracy because their off-the-ball offensive skills are so bad. All they do is dribble around aimlessly, often literally from the top of the pitch to the bottom. Repeating the same moves over and over. Which is why you end up with your CPU opponent making 90+% of their passes. They don't really take chances. They wait until you (or an idiot CPU teammate) make a mistake and they screw you over.

In PES, on higher difficulty settings, they tend to beat you by getting into perfect position for through passes. It can be annoying, but it does feel less cheaty than FIFA. If you play smart pressure defense, it can be an even matchup. Scoring on crosses and corners felt overpowered on both sides in PES 12, but I can't say definitively if it's quite the same in PES 13.
