I took of a striker and put CB, and went ultra defensive. with 5 at the back, the cpu became much more fluid with the ball. They were having some great buildups, but couldn't get through (until the 80th when they scored on a set piece). I tested some games with 5 at the back, and the cpu really held possession well. Its good to see they adapt.
That's so awesome to hear, man. Just like a game I watched today (sorry dont' want to spoil anyone's DVR weekend like mine was almost!)

    - Would've loved to see that game, man. I can't wait to play soon again. Are you doing an ML yet?

Love it. Thanks, Tomba. You got the right idea - and thanks for keeping an open mind, brutha. This is an incredible, incredible experience - I wish I was 19 again so I can play all week long without having to go to work!

Re: (PC) Welp - I have done it again. Realistic Game Play.

I think what you said in your video is right. 100 and 100 (Defensive line and pressure) might be a bit too much. It's not so bad if you are playing a possession team, but a team that plays a lot of long balls and specifically counter attack teams seem to be a real bug with these sliders.

I played a couple of test matches in Champions League (the game play in ML, UCL and Copa are different than exhibition, even with the same settings) -- I was Chelsea -- played 3 against Arsenal, they were great. I played 3 against AC Milan, and it was insane. I was 2-0-1 against Arsenal. I was 0-3-0 against Milan. The high back line + the high press (strikers not tracking back as much) + the compactness (huge gaps between the center backs) = counter all day. Milan hit me for 8 goals in 3 games. They'd get the ball back, send it straight to the half way line and Robinho would feet Pato or vice versa.

I'm experimenting with some settings to keep the pressure and midfield battle up, without getting slaughtered on the counter. I'm testing 80 line height, which is helping.

I think I'm going to test games with a universal 80 and see how they play.

The other answer might be -- before you start a game, adjust your opponents tactics.

One quick advice for all players who have problem with the cpu fast through balls. If cpu is on counter-attack or you loose the ball on the midfield and cpu gets the ball, first of all always look at the last cpu player(striker) where he is and then you immediatly switch to your last defender. All you have to do is just to run parallel with the last cpu striker, maybe just for few seconds.Because of that cpu ai recognize that and it wont pass to that last stiker.Even if he pass to it the ball you will definitly intercept that ball. From time to time you have to always look at the last cpu striker where he is and switch to your defender near by him.Intercepting that deadly through balls will become such an enjoment. From now on I have no problem and fear to that deadly through balls.Sorry for my english!

I have been testing these two sliders to. for me they were a bit too much, specially the pessing, I bumped it down to 70 and am still testing. However, like matt said the attack level on 1 is perfect, the AI doesnt run forward like a chickem without a head.

Also, agree 100% with gamepley playng differently in ML vs exhibition... I always thiink I find the pressing to be perfect in exhibition, ony to see something different in ML

Is there a command to switch to the deepest defender? I always end up switching through five players to get to my CB.

There is no command and you dont need it.When cpu cross your middle your defensive line are pulling back and cpu strikers run diagonal or horizontal, then you switch to one of your CBs.Hold teammate press butonn and cover the last passing lane of the last cpu passing striker(Your teammate auto-tackle control must be on HARD!)You dont need this tactic when you are on the cpu side of the pitch or when the battle for ball poissesion is batling on the middle. When cpu gets to your side then switch to CB,use teammate pressing and cover passing lanes.

Thinking of picking this up for 360 after the price drops. Hated fifa 12, no matter the sliders I was able to dribble all over the field with even a defender without threat of the ball being stripped. Havent played PES since version 6 on PC but was one of my fav sports games.

Is it possible to use your tweaks on the 360 version? is there an editor for that or is this only possible on PC?

Or you can try increasing by using the +% feature instead of the = feature in the pes editor.

I'm still messing around anyways because waiting on a championship team update for PESEDIT before I start my ML.

So far the way I have it set up isn't too terrible actually.

I can understand the enjoyment, but at the same time - you shouldn't have to do that. It's not realistic to have the through ball be a threat the entire match. If that were the case in real soccer/football - we'd see 5+ goals a half.

If there was no fix, unlike there is now, then I would definitely be opening to hearing suggestions.

I think in exhibition you have "form" as random (at least I do) and sometimes it feels like there's nothing on the line. Notice how in exhibition the celebrations are rarely involving anyone else? Just the goal scorer? In ML/UCL, etc - it changes right away most of the time.

Who knows though. It's still a joy eitherway. If the tweaks didn't work in ML, what I was thinking, is the through ball game would be blown wide open again - and so far it's not.

Yes - the tweaks would have to occur one by one, since there isn't a global (mass) editor for either console unfortunately. Come back to PC, lol

I'm not familiar enough with the +/- feature to confidently navigate it. How does the +/- feature work?

PS these settings are incredible. I'm trying to perfect the game, the work you've done is amazing youve done us all a great favor.

The +/% feature is nice, it simply increases the percentage of the default value to another given value. So instead of being = (equals) 100, you could put

                        Defensive line +/- % (10%).

So this could increase or decrease the line height for a team, but now all teams will not have a high line - they will have varying degrees. I guess it's a way to keep teams play closer to their intended tactics.

I personally feel teams play different based on their players' ratings and response value. Furthermore there is a defensive/offensive awareness value that seems to make a huge difference if altered.

I'm still running I'm to the same issue. Exhibition, the game is AWESOME. In a game 'mode' (UCL, ML, any Cups) the game plays drastically different. I think the offensive awareness value and responsiveness might have to be touched up.

I've found the reason the for the difference in gameplay from exhibition and other game modes - form. Change form to 1 and the UCL and CSL play just like exhibition, which is good.

I'm playing the UCL as Newcastle, and its a pleasure. I lost 2-0 to Juve, beat Cluj 3-1, beat Ajax 1-0 and drew with Shaktar 1-1. The whole game is amazing.

I'm using Matt's adjustments + form at 1, and the game is awesome. Form at 1 really makes the star players shine.
